3.0.23 ldapsam:trusted=yes problem
Hi all!
I've a running Samba PDC (LDAP backend) with windows clients. All the users
are in the LDAP, including the 'guest' user. All except the 'root' user which
is a regular user. Then change in the smb.conf
ldapsam:trusted = yes

and noticed some speed-up when listing groups, look file ownerships, and so

Problem with Samba PDC, W2k SP4 + rollup clients, user accounts
Hi!
I've one big problem.
In my work we have a mixed network: one Debian Sarge with samba 3.0.14
acting as PDC and some w2k sp4 and windows xp sp2 pro/home with all
updates (including w2k sp4 update rollup) . Samba uses OpenLDAP as backend
using smbldap-tools 0.9.1 to manage users and computers. This setup has

Domain admins and samba
How can I give a user account the ability to join or add computer to the
domain?
Below are the steps I did but none work:
1. Edit smb.conf file and add the following line.
# domain administrators
domain admin group = root user1 user2 @sysadmin
domain admin users = @sysadmin
I have a group called "sysadmin" on my /etc/group profile and added both
user1 and user2.

Smart card logon
Hi all
Is possible to perform a logon from a XP workstation to a Samba3+LDAP managed domain with
a smartcard? I've readed somewhere that this is not possible with Samba3, but /could/ be
possible with the Samba4 package.
Thanks

Random coefficients model with a covariate: coxme function
Dear R users:
I'm new to R and am trying to fit a mixed model
Cox regression model with coxme function.
I have one two-level factor (treat) and one
covariate (covar) and 32 different groups
(centers). I'd like to fit a random coefficients model, with treat and covar
as fixed factors and a random intercept, random
treat effect and random covar slope per center.
I haver a couple of

net rpc rights grant: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
RE: "net rpc rights grant testpc1 SePrintOperatorPrivilege -U testpc1"
Failed to grant privileges for testpc1 (NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED)

but I don't have admin access to active directory (hence the auth using

Does the user granting access need some sort of admin privilege in
Active Directory? How do

Using the “net rpc rights” Utility

I am trying to grant the rights to a group so that I can add computers to my
domain, but I am getting an error of "No Command: rights". Is something
trashed in my install or has this command changed? All the other net rpc
commands appear to work for me. My current setup is samba 3.0.25b on RHEL4

net rpc rights
Hello everybody,
I'm going to update samba on a production server very soon because i'm
interested by the net rpc commands (especially net rpc rights) but i'm
wondering where the user privileges are stored. I'm currently using an openldap
server to authenticate the users and store their profiles. I've updated samba on
a test server, have given specific privileges to some users

net rpc rights stop working at 3.4.3
Hello
Since I upgraded from 3.3.9 to 3.4.3 the net rpc rights command
stops working properly
pdc:/usr/local/samba/etc/samba# net rpc rights list
Enter root's password:xxx
Could not connect to server 127.0.0.1
Connection failed: NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED
the smb.conf file is exactly the same one
Some new features in 3.4.3 to add in smb.conf ?
Thanks

net rpc rights grant on a standalone server
I have a standalone samba server. I want to configure it so that the
"admins" local unix group has the ability to view / close open files
through compmgmt.msc. I assume that what I need to do is run "net rpc
rights grant [username] SeDiskOperatorPrivilege".
Is this the correct privilege? Can these commands be run on a standalone
server? What is the proper syntax for granting
