readLines() for non-blocking pipeline behaves differently in R 3.5
The issue is that readLines() tries to seek (for reasons I don't understand) in the non-blocking case, but silently fails for "stdin" since it's a stream. This confused the buffering logic. The fix is to mark "stdin" as unable to seek, but I do wonder why readLines() is seeking in the first place. Anyway, I'll get this into patched ASAP. Thanks for the report.

gsub and "\"
This is hopefully a simple question. I am trying to escape single quotes like so: abc's >> abc\'s However, I cannot find an easy way to do that with gsub: gsub("'","\\\\'","abc's") # returns "abc\\'s" How can I get a single \ in the output? Thanks, Sean

winbind problems
I had to move an existing member server to new hardware. Using getent on this Debian Jessie system, I cannot get winbind to retrieve the domain users, except for administrator, guest, tsinternetuser, and krbtgt. Although none of my other working systems have it, I added the "dedicated keytab", "kerberos method", and "winbind refresh tickets" parameters to match

Excel Read only file bug back on 3.0.23x?
Hi, I believe that the BUG 2346 which was resolved in samba 3.0.14 has come back in the 3.0.23 series. Here is what I have noticed on two separate configurations. The samba packages were built on each machine using rpmbuild with the SRPMS provided for Fedora in the samba web site. Configuration 1. Two machines running with RHEL4, samba 3.0.23b-1, drbd-0.7.21 protocol C. Kernel:

regular expression for veto files directive?
Hi! I want to enforce on a samba share, that every file needs to contain a version. like: foobar-02.doc or blah-01.xls I thought something like veto files = /^.*\D\D\.(doc|xls|ppt)$/ would to it. But it ignores that. are there any other options?

how to mirror only selected directories?
Hi, I've tried various combinations of --exclude and --include, but I can't quite get it. What I'd like to do is only mirror certain directories in a tree. For example, say a directory tree starting at /x contained under it several directories named "abc". I want to mirror only the "abc" directories and what's under them and nothing else. /x/abcdef/456

Cannot add ACL entry in Windows.
Hello, Just upgraded from Samba 3.0.22 to 3.0.23, running on a SlackWare Linux Box with a 2.4.31 kernel. All Unix users and samba users are stored in ldap. Using setfacl renders correct user/groups in the windows acl editor, and works perfectly. However, when I try to add a user/group in the Security tab for a share/folder I get the following message "The program cannot open the

Cases where Samba modifies a file without changing the timestamp?
Hi, apart from the mmap(2)ed DBM files that Samba uses, are they any cases where Samba will *modify* data files without setting the mtime ? I have issues with rsync not seeing changes to Samba exported files (md5sum don't match). The mtime is however in the very distant past (say 2004), but the content seems to have changed. I don't think it's a data integrity issue. Any idea ?

Lingering IPC$ connections
I'm running the latest samba release (2.2.8a), and everything seems to be running fine. Except for something that does not look quite right. Connections to the IPC$ share are being left behind by samba once the user has logged off. And what's even more troubling is that the pid associated with the lingering IPC$ connection is picked up by the next smbd process, and then you have one pid
