What's wrong with my smb.conf? Access Denied with 3.0.23c
Still having problems with my Samba configuration, even after upgrade to the latest FC5 samba package. Getting "Access Denied" errors when trying to connect with a member of the group "Domain Users" to the MP3s share. The W2K3 server shows that authentication was successful. I can't find any errors in the logs at all, and winbind appears to be working (I can su to the

Pam [default=bad success=ok user_unknown=ignore], Winbind
Winbind has been working great for domain logons (have to restart it every few weeks, but other than that, works great!), but today I noticed I couldn't log in as a local user. For instance, if my local user was test, and I tried to log in, I'd get this in /var/log/messages: Aug 22 12:14:00 mgprisvr pam_winbind[8346]: request failed, but PAM error 0! I'm continuously getting this message - it fills all of my logs... How can I fix this, or stop winbind from logging to syslog? Thanks! Winbind Troubles... string_to_sid: Sid S-0-0 is not in a valid format.
Hello! I posted before, figured I'd try again and provide more information in the original post. I'm running samba-3.0.22-1.fc5, joined to a W2K3 domain. All features appear to work - I've been running it this way for a month. This message appears not to actually affect anything, and it occurs every 30 seconds or so. I'll be happy to post my configs, if necessary. This set

FC5. Samba 3.0.23a Win XP Pro SP2. Cannot logon from XP to samba on Fedora
Hello, I have just performed a yum update on my Fedora 5 machine, which I think included a samba update, and I cannot connect from WinXP to the shares defined on Fedora. When I select the samba server from WIndowsXP, a dialog box prompts for the userid and password. When userid and password are entered the dialog box just redisplays and I am not logged on, no matter how many time I try. I

Help: smbd & nmbd normal states
I have just installed Fedora Core 5 with the Samba server. However only the nmbd daemon is running. I thought both smbd and nmbd should be running. On trying to start smbd with: >/sbin/service smb start the result is "starting smbd [FAILED]" Stopping smbd of course has no effect, and starting or restarting nmbd works just fine. I'm stumped! I turned SELinux and the firewall off.

Configure Printing with Samba part of W2K3 Domain
Hello! I've read various information on the web, including the HOWTO on how to configure Printers, but I am struggling with making my printers publicly printable. My samba server is joined to a W2K3 domain. How do I configure it to be printable by anyone, even a user/system not part of the domain? Here is my current config: [printers] comment = All Printers path =

can ls files, but can't cat files
I have a server roark (fedora core 5 with samba 3.0.23a-1.fc4.1) with a home directory awilliam. I'm trying to mount it on my linux workstation (fedora core 5, samba 3.0.23a-1.fc5.1). Bug in kernel-space samba client (3.0.23a) on FC5 (2.6.17-1.2157_FC5)
On a client running FC5 with all packages updated from yum (running samba 3.0.23a-1.fc5.1 and the 2.6.17-1.2157_FC5 linux kernel), I cannot access multiple samba shares that have share-level security using cifs. 0. To reproduce, use a server that serves two shares with share-level security. Make sure the shares have different passwords. 1. Using the standard mount command and specifying cifs

cifs reading Samba mounted share...permissions error
I have a Samba 3.0.23a-1.fc5.1 configured on a Fedora 5 server. It's joined to an Active Directory 2003 domain controller using Winbind, etc. I'm able to connect from various workstations using active directory user accounts/credentials just fine to shares on this server, permissions work, and all is well. I'm guessing this is set up correctly. However, from another Fedora 5 server,

rsync bug with --relative and --delete fixed in CentOS5?
Yohoo! I'm using rsnapshot-1.3.0-1.el5.rf (from DAG) and rsync-2.6.9-1.el5.rf (from CentOS5) together. Rsnapshot now starts every task with the "--relative" switch. Without this switch it will backup all subsequent folders (like /proc and so on) which isn't desired. So I can't omit the "--relative". But there was a bug for rsync prior to 2.6.9 that it won't

problems xp joining samba pdc
Morning, I have three machines, two xp and one win2k, that join the samba pdc fine. I have tried to join others to this same samba pdc using the same accounts for authentication without success. The xp machine first says the user does not exist, I click ok and go back to the screen for the domain account authorized to join the domain and press ok (or next) again and this time the xp box says the
