ldapsam ignores "ldap user suffix" when doing username lookup
Greetings.
Since this is my first post to this list, hello everyone. Here's an
issue concerning the ldapsam backend.
I'm having a problem with the "ldap user suffix" param not being
honored as expected. Specifically, when a user logs on, the "ldap user
suffix" is ignored and the ldapsam backend attempts to lookup the user
doing a full subtree search in the context

LDAP: strange "net groupmap" behaviour
Dear Sirs,
I did the following command (against ldapsam backend):
net groupmap add rid=3002 unixgroup=wheel type=local ntgroup=Marketoids
comment=Mm -d 10
I just wanted to add new group. But instead of that I saw many-many-many
records:
lib/smbldap.c:smbldap_search(963)
passdb/pdb_ldap.c:ldapsam_getgroup(2008)
they all wanted to find group with gidNumber=4294967295, yes, sure,

hi,
today i experience a very crazy behaviour:
1) yesterday my winbindd crashed (s. log.crash) (status: "dead")
2) restarted winbind and saw that some files have no owner (just the
uidNumber)
3) getent passwd, wbinfo -u shows me all users (authenticating agains
Windows PDC)
4) i'm using nsswitch (passwd: files winbind, group: files winbind)
e.g. (getent passwd)

pdbedit password policy - not updating ldapsam
I have Samba and LDAP up and running, but I'm having problems editing the
password policy using pdbedit.
(I'm running 3.0.22)
I've had a look at the man page for pdbedit but I don't really fully
understand what it does in relation to passwd backends. Does pdbedit update
just one backend and expect a user to export the updates to other backends?
I think I've set up ldap as

Hi
I thought I finally had this PDC pu and runing but I don?t. Samba is working fine ?cos I can see the shares from other machines
(I?m yet to join them to the domain). I have a mandrake 9.2 and using samba 3.0 and ldap 2.1.22 as backend and not able to
join machines to the domain so I used ldapsearch and net groupmap to see what?s up with the ldap server and it came up with the

Réf. : Re: Réf. : Re: SAMBA Groups and Permissions

now everything works
samba recognises user "test_user" in group "users" AND "kids"....
i dunno why ?!?!!?
i did nothing, i just removed "valid users" from this share and reloaded
smb-conf...nothing special !
if i could reproduce it, it would be better then seeing it working now
and not knowing why....

ldap smbpasswd UH???
I can't really guess the point of your intelligent answer from this.
If I have to assume you're surprised, I guess I am too.
The cn exists in ldap, with all the attributes that I imported from
other databases, the message given by smbpasswd suggests that it either
tried to create an entry or update it with sambaaccount attributes (
which it didn't ), neither of which are the expected

User/Machine RID generation error?
Hello:
I'm using:
- samba-common-3.0.9-1
- kernel 2.6.5-1.358
- FC 2
- openldap-servers-2.1.29-1
We're running an NT4 domain using an LDAP backend, and everything was running fine until recently. The first thing that I noticed that new users were suddenly being assigned SambaSID's that were previously being assigned to machines.

LDAP with Netscape 4 & Solaris 8
Hey all,
I'm trying to get Samba 3.0.4 to work with Netscape Directory Server
4.x with LDAP. The problem is that I'm not getting authenticated thru
LDAP. I've tried searching the archives(MARC), google and can find some
info but nothing seems to fix it. I've loaded the Netscape V4 schema
from the examples/LDAP.
Included at the end is both my smb.conf file and my LDIF

strange DOS-Error 58
Hi,
based on Bart Lagerweij's ( www.nu2.nu ) bootdisk, I've created a small
DOS system that users can start by booting from network ( PXE ). The
system is configured to map a network drive from a Suse 9.0 Pro / Samba
server with various tools on it. The connection is anonymous.
Until recently everything worked fine but suddenly there are strange
errors:
