receive_smb: SMB Signature verification failed on incoming packet
Hello,
I am trying to connect a 2nd Linux machine to my Samba PDC using
smbmount. Both machines run Samba 3.0.14a. However, when trying to mount
using
machine2# /usr/local/samba/bin/smbmount //pdc/wpkg /raid/samba/mount -o
username=abc,password=123
it takes some seconds and then only brings up an I/O error. The log on
the primary machine brings up

signing_good: BAD SIG: seq 1 & SMB Signature verification failed on incoming packet!
When winbind is started I get the following log messages:
signing_good: BAD SIG: seq 1
SMB Signature verification failed on incoming packet!
After extensive googling the only reference I find is that my kerberos might
be too old. (using krb 1.2.4). Can someone confirm is this a bug in kerberos
or a bug in samba. If the later is there a workaround or do I have to
upgrade to new kerberos?

SMB Signature verification failed on incoming packet
My setup is Samba/smbclient version 3.0.1 on linux RedHat 9.
\\snapper\dfs is a dfs share on snapper, a Win2k3 Active Directory
server. My smb.conf contains:
[global]
realm = ciswinnet.cis.uab.edu
workgroup=CISWINNET
security = ADS
encrypt passwords = yes
password server = snapper.cis.uab.edu
client use spnego = yes
I am trying to run the following command:

SMB Signature verification failed on incoming packet!
I am running Samba 3.0.9/KRB5 1.4 on Centos 3.4 on x86 with security = ADS in a Win2k3 domain. I have successfully used kinit to authenticate, joined the domain, and wbinfo -g/-u/-t return the expected results. However, when I try and access the samba shares from a Win2k3 box, it fails telling me I don't have permissions to access the share. Needless to say I am thoroughly perplexed. I have

SMB signing broken? 3.0.7 -> 3.0.8
Hi all.
I originally suspected this problem was with netbios (which I have
disabled by default) and Jerry has helped me out a bit with but I've
been doing some more digging and I think the problem lies back further
than I expected.
I was trying to upgrade from 3.0.7 to 3.0.11 so I've recompiled all
versions back from 3.0.11 and the problem first occured in 3.0.8. The
issue is with

3.0.23 - different errors on solaris 8 (Error in dskattr...)
Hi,
I just compiled samba 3.0.23 on our Sun Solaris 8 server. 3.0.22 was
running fine and I used the same compiler options for 3.0.23.
$ ./configure --with-acl-support --prefix=/usr/local/samba3023
--with-quotas --with-included-popt --without-ldap --with-vfs
gcc version 3.4.2
GNU Make 3.80
Running make now throws a lot these warnings:

I got it (was: Cisco 7940 with asterisk)
Hi again,
I found chan_skinny and that seems to work pretty good. the SCCP one
filled out all the buttons really nice, but skinny seems to be
working.
How do I fill out the second line button on the phone with skinny.conf?
Thanks much!

XP and ACL info
Hi,
I have an XP machine, I have turned off Simple File Sharing and have assigned an ACL to a share.
I can mount the share like so
[root@bk1 ~]# mount -t cifs //192.168.1.64/BK_TEST ./TMP -o username='test'
Password:
[root@bk1 ~]# ls ./TMP/c*
./TMP/cv_tbx.doc
But I would like to get the ACL info in linux so I try this but it does not work.
smbcacls -d 5 -U=test -N

dreaded Caller*ID failed checksum
Caller*ID used to work as some point, but I can't seem to get it going
these days. The card is a x101p. I've tried going up and down the
rxgain scale. Can the txgain effect it at all? When I plug in a phone
into the line with a splitter it can decode caller id with no problems.
Reading through the mailing list archives hasn't given me any
move clues. Any ideas?

Problems accessing shares with dollar signs
I'm having various problems accessing shares with dollar signs in
their names (e.g., \\server\c$); however, there doesn't seem to be
much consistency to the types of problems.
Details:
>From my CentOS 4.3 box running Samba 3.0.21b, mounting \\server\data$
(a Windows Server 2003 DC) or \\domain\data$ (the same share, shared
over DFS) using mount.cifs doesn't give any errors, and I

quota and dict
I have a question about using dict and quotas. I want dovecot to send
quota queries to a custom dict server over a socket. I'm doing this
because I can't do group quotas based on domain since a customer can
have each of their users associated with different domains under a
single account. I need to lookup the account ID and group based on that.
I'm worried putting everything in mysql

accumulating orphaned processes
I'm getting orphaned processes on our mail servers. Some machines has
processes hanging around from a week ago. I'm running the current stable
of dovecot 2.1.15, but the problem has been happening for a while now. I
thought it would be good to report the issue.
I ran an strace on one of them and this is the output:

server signing broken for non-kerberos auth
I'm working with the Solaris bundled version of samba 3.5.5 and having a
problem with server signing. samba is configured into an active directory
domain with security = ads.
With signing enabled, connections from clients in the domain work fine.
However, connections from clients not in the domain fail:

Failed to join domain: failed to set machine spn: Operations error Win 2k8 samba 3.2.0rc2
Hello,
I'm trying to join Samba 3.2.0rc2 with Windows 2008 domain.
Net ads join returns:
Failed to join domain: failed to set machine spn: Operations error
Tried to use ktpass and keytab, but it also failed. Tried googling failed to set machine spn, but got no results.
What else could I try ?
Some more debug info:

Need fast Maildir to mdbox conversion
I looked around the 'Net to see if there might be a custom program for
offline Maildir to mdbox conversion. So far I haven't turned up
anything. The problem for us is that the dsync program simply takes a
lot of time to convert mailboxes. I wonder if time could be saved with a
program that is optimized to convert mailboxes without the fancy locking
that dsync needs to do. Does have (or

Time out failure with mvfs on Linux
I have tried Samba 3.0.2a and 3.0.4. We use Active directory. The server
is running on RHEL3.
When I connect to the server on a share that is acutally an ext3 or NFS
file system, I have no known problems. We use ClearCase on Linux and I
am trying to access my workspace (view) as I have done many times before
on Solaris, but now we are running on Linux and with a newer version of
