IDMAP dump and restore for second server.
Hello all.
I use Samba 3.6.3 on FreeBSD in combination with ZFS, and it all works fine.
I use zfs send to receive my store on a backup machine and i want the users id to be the same as on the master server so to say.
Keeps my backups easy accessable with samba!
Now i know i can dump the IDMAP database using the following: net idmap dump.
I expect a whole bunch of lines,but i get the following,

Bringing up interface causes smbd to become unresponsive on that subnet
This is a strange problem I can't seem to wrap my head around.
I have a server with 2 interfaces. Samba is serving happily on one, and
will remain on a single interface (eth0, subnet A(/22), vlan 101). I wish
to bring up a second interface (eth1, subnet B(/24), vlan 102) that will be
serving up nfs and ssh traffic only. Currently, Samba will process
requests from any computer on the

CTDB -- manually setting winbind uid with wbinfo
Hi
We have a ctdb cluster setup as follows
ctdb version -- surprisingly difficult to determine. I think it is
1.0.99 (dragged from a include file somewhere, I forget where exactly ).
If anyone can tell me how to determine this proberly then I would be
pleased to know.
samba version 3.5.8
I was hoping to be able to set the UID to SID mapping manually using the
following procedure.

idmap_ad - Unix attributes vs. Windows attributes vs. Winbind
Hi,
I'm using Debian Stable with Samba from SerNet (3.0.28-21).
Most of it is working, but there is one issue:

permissions on Samba share mount point in RHEL 5
Dear friends,
I am straight away coming to the point I have a samba
server<http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/#>and I have created a public
share (with full permissions for every user in
network) and I have mounted it on a RHEL machine. The problem is that
permissions on the mount change when I restart the samba server and other
thing is that when any user on rhel machine creates any folder

multi-subneted network browsing problem
Hi *
I have a question about windows network browsing from linux box in a
multi-subneted network. I have such network topology: my subnet is
10.105.27.224/27, there are 10 boxes in my subnet; also there are
several other subnets - 10.105.27.0/27, 10.105.27.96/27, ...,
172.17.51.64/27, ..., 172.17.48.0/26, ...
In our network we have one wins server with ip 172.17.48.13 that very

smbd Process Changes Ownership - lsof output
Hi,
When using lsof, I see that smbd changes ownership from the actual user
who made the connection, to root. Also seeing odd behavior with certain
files accessed from XP boxes suddenly becoming "read only" to the user
mid edit, and appears to be related.
Ex: lsof output at 8:45 AM:
smbd 11987 user1 cwd DIR 253,3 4096 704687

Users Losing Data - Excel Files Not Locking Properly
Hi,
We have a problem like I've never seen in 8 years of running Samba in
production. Two users can overwrite each other's open Excel
spreadsheets. It occurs very infrequently, basically randomly, never
happens on a recently restarted smbd instance, and is extremely
difficult to troubleshoot due to samba switching process ownership from
the user to "root" shortly after

Using idmap_rid backend, cannot browse home directory from XP
Samba version is 3.0.10 on Gentoo linux. I am trying
to use idmap_rid backend in a Windows AD environment,
the Linux PC acting only as a domain member. I am
using idmap_rid because I need UID/GID predictability.
I can log in to console correctly, and it shows the
right user and the "Domain Users" as the group.
When I use default winbind TDB, I can browse the home
directory from an XP

doveadm purge -A via doveadm-proxy director fails after some users
Hi,
we have configured userdb and passdb in the director and try to
iterate all users and pass the "purge" command via doveadm proxy to
port 19000 on the correct director backend host.
A single purge -u username at example.org via doveadm-proxy works correctly,
but iterating over some users with -A fails.
Note: users/domains have been anonymized in output:

Possibly WERR_DS_DRA_ACCESS_DENIED or NT_STATUS_CANT_ACCESS_DOMAIN_INFO
So we have two different Samba servers we are trying to connect to what was
originally a Windows 2003 AD and was raised to 2008R2 (both Forest and
Domain).
(We really only need to connect one of them - the one hosting Samba 4.7.6).
Any ideas or suggestions are helpful! We've scoured the lists (Rowland -
you are amazing), but still not found what is wrong (we think it is
probably a config

Prohibit removing INBOX
Hello list,
I'm using dovecot 1.1.11 and I'm going to prohibit users to remove
their INBOX and some other directories in the mailbox root.
I used Access Control Lists (http://wiki.dovecot.org/ACL) to do this:
protocol imap {
mail_plugins = acl
}
plugin {
# With global ACLs in /etc/dovecot/acls/ directory:
acl = vfile:/etc/dovecot/acls
}
/etc/dovecot/acls/.DEFAULT:

smbd crashs while using keytab
Hi All,
Here is my situation:
I run 3.014a samba server. It joins different ADS domains through out
the day and every day.
Configured it with "use keytab = yes" but did not execute the command
"net ads flush keytab" after each new domain join.
While trying to map a share from a client with a clock offset of more
than 6 minutes, smbd crashed. (Of course, not the main

doveadm proxy list repeats header line
Hi all,
just a minor thing: Why does `doveadm proxy list` repeat the header line
after each entry? Too me, that just makes the output harder to read.
So instead of this:
root at mail1 ~ # doveadm proxy list
username proto src ip dest ip port
info at domain1.de imap 80.152.196.98 222.133.127.53 993

Samba rejecting authentication from Windows machines
Hi everybody.
First a short overview of our setup:
We have 2 Samba DCs in Domain 1
We use a Windows 10 Pro VM for the RSAT Tools which we access via RDP
We have 1 Windows Server 2012 DC for Domain 2
Between Domain 1 and 2 is a Trust for cross-domain file share access
Since the last reboot of our samba DCs they suddenly started to block login attempts on the RSAT-VM and also the Trust to the
