vfs_shadow_copy2 with snapprefix & delimiter options
Hello all, I already successfully configured shadow copy service without a delimiter and regex. But as soon as I try to get this to work with regex, nothing shows up on the win client. My config looks like this: [global] shadow: localtime = yes shadow: sort = desc shadow: format = _%FT%T shadow: delimiter = _ shadow: snapprefix = ^\(monthly\)\{0,1\}\(weekly\)\{0,1\}\(daily\)\{0,1\}$

file permissions with inherit permission + ACL's
Hi, I have a share (testshare) where different unix groups (testgroup1, testgroup2) should have access to. But I want that new files are only created with 660 permissions. Here are the ACL's of testshare: # file: testshare # owner: ralfgro # group: ve user::rwx group::rwx group:testgroup1:rwx group:testgroup2:rwx mask::rwx other::--- default:user::rwx default:group::---

security = server, username map, different domain -> no login
Hi, I posted a similar question a few days before. I'm still confused what might be wrong with my config. Setup: - update from Samaba 2.2.12 to 3.0.10 - Solaris 8 Server - server is not a domain (EMEA) member, and it's not possible to add the server to the EMEA domain :(- server is only in workgroup ERS (our department, no DC, only a few hosts). - no winbind - authentification happens

winbind - timeouts in domain with >100000 domain users
Hi, I'm trying out samba with winbind. The domain has >100000 users and I'm having some problems with the wbinfo and getent programs. The server is domain member and running debin etch (x86_64) with samba-3.0.23d. idmap uid = 70000-300000 idmap gid = 70000-300000 winbind enum users = yes winbind enum groups = yes winbind use default domain = yes template shell = /bin/false security =

domain/unix groups and valid users parameter
Hi, I want to switch from 'security = server' to 'security = ADS'. Kerberos is working and I can login to the server. With Samba 3.0.22 I was able to restrict access to shares with the 'valid users' directive. ve is local unix group. valid users = +ve And force the group ownership with the 'force group' directive. force group = +ve [foo] comment = foo

Problem with large files
Hi we have samba 3.0.14a on FreeBSD 5.4. We tried with different kind of locking and oplocks (both enabled and disabled). If we try to copy from a Windows XP client a file larger than 3g, we get these error: Cannot copy XXX. The specified network name is no longer available. We traced this problem in the logs (log level 10) and we got this error ------------ [2006/09/19 10:29:41, 5]

3.5.9: logon scripts are not working under non root user
I have issues running logon script on samba 3.5.9 (freebsd 8.2p1) under non root user. When i login to the XP box under root all is OK. logon script is working, but it's totally not working under all other users. turning on debugging reveals that under non root it's incorrectly parsing the logon script name from config (adding full network path to filename) unix_convert called on file

home share issue: //server/homes errs, while //server/<username> works
Hello list, I'm running a samba server in AD domain, with some AD users explicitly mapped into local users by "username map = sambauser.map", which is a text file. Problem is found with explicitly mapped user, I can only access home share by //server/<ADusername>, not //server/homes (using windows explorer). This feels wrong because I also tried those AD users not listed in

home share and user map issue

Understanding NT_STATUS_OBJECT_PATH_NOT_FOUND
[For those on both this and samba-technical - sorry for the duplication. I meant to send this here, but I experienced a user error. :-) ] I'm having a problem related to the NT_STATUS_OBJECT_PATH_NOT_FOUND error and I am having a little difficulty discovering what this means. [root@monkey admin]# smbclient \\\\dapper\\dfs mypassword -U Myuser -E -W CISNET -D home\\staff\\fran -d0 -Tqca

Sorry, the commands are right :) > The all other things include the groupmaps? What do you mean... when i uses the command "./net groupmap list", i get the following back

Applciation cannot open a file
I'm running 3.0.28a on RHEL 4 U4. The problem I see is tied between an application running on winxp (Altiris Image Browser) and the samba server. The application says it is unable to open specific files. I've tried some things to resolve this. I set force user = root for the share in question. This should have fixed it, but it did not. I set chmod to o+rwx per file. I do not see this

Samba "%G" replacement not working in "Logon script" ?
Dear all, I experience now a strange bug with Samba 4.1.11 : When I define a fixed-name as logon script in smb.conf, it works : logon script = employee.bat But if I try either %g.bat or %G.bat, or even "%G.bat", it doesn't work : * logon script = %g.bat * logon script = %G.bat * logon script = "%G.bat" In the logs, there was a message showing that Samba was

Bug found in Samba 4 ?
Dear Ricky, Yes, in my original post, below, I gave some details about smb.conf, but to summarize: * I am using Samba 4.1.11. * server role = classic primary domain controller * domain logons = yes * domain master = yes * When I define a fixed-name as logon script in smb.conf, it works : * logon script = employee.bat * But if I try either %g.bat or %G.bat, or even

Samba "%G" replacement not working in "Logon script" ?
Dear Ricky, Thanks a lot for your answer. But I still have two problems: 1. I am not using samba as AD DC but as PDC. 2. What I would need is the primary group... Do you thinks %WORKGROUP% could work ? 3. And should I use %WORKGROUP% in smb.conf or in batch login script... Thanks a lot in advance for your help... Problem After Upgrade - NT_STATUS_FILE_IS_A_DIRECTORY
I'm running Samba 3.4.7 on Ubuntu 10.04. This is a recent upgrade and we've starting experience a sporadic problem after this upgrade. When users are browsing through Windows Explorer they sometimes run across folders that appear as unassociated files. This requires the user to click the 'Refresh' button in Windows Explorer to properly see the folders. The files and folders are
