Moving homes from PDC server to large fileserver
Background: 10 windows clients which also boot linux and solaris. A samba PDC+LDAP(ver 3.0.22) working on a server local to the clients(ie on same subnet). Recently recieved large Sun fileserver to house all homes and lab data. It is hosted in the server room used by our university(so different subnet). All user and nis info is in our ldap server, so autofs is used on all of our linux and

Black screen returning from console
Another problem I'm experiencing is that when I switch to the console and switch back to the desktop (vt7) it is all black, some colour remaining of the bottom panel exists for a couple of pixels along the bottom of the screen. My console is running frame buffer and gensplash. I've got compiz running with my ATI driver, and xorg 7.1.1 Is there a known bug between the frame buffer and Xgl?

RFC compliance on folder lists
If a mail folder contains quotes, the IMAP server may respond with a line like: 1 list "" "a/b/"X" Y Z" The specific example I saw had this exact form (it was in a nested folder, and one of the words was quoted). -- Anthony Kay University Computing Center (541) 346-1719 GPG Fingerprint: B0DB D46A 60AF FAE7 A94A 5075 0CB4 4D88 9F4F 7F09 Physics is like sex: sure,

Heal not working
Hi, I have a volume created of 12 bricks and with 3x replication (no stripe). We had to take one server (2 bricks per server, but configured such that first brick from every server, then second brick from every server so there should not be 1 server multiple times in any replica groups) for maintenance. The server was down for 40 minutes and after it came up I saw that gluster volume heal home0

autofs + cifs + kerberos
I'm having an issue with autofs mounting cifs using kerberos, on machines joined to an S4 domain controller. Both hosts and S4 server are CentOS 6, and the DC is running samba-4.1.11 from sernet. Autofs is getting it's maps from LDAP from the DC. This part works fine, automount -m shows: Mount point: /share source(s): instance type(s): sss map: auto.share public |

Strategy for using CentOS on laptops in an NIS environment
We use NIS (ypbind) and Kerberos at work for all our Linux and Unix systems. Home directories are mounted via autofs from an NIS map. Everything works just fine as long as all network resources are available (however, things turn ugly when the NIS servers are not reachable). Some users also want to start using laptops and bring them home or on trips to continue working while not at

No, you need to figure out what program, not autofs, is trying to access /mnt/syno-fredex and /mnt/syno-public. You moved the mounts, but some program still expects those paths to exist. autofs is just telling you that some other program is still looking in

Update to EL 6.3 breaks TCP NFS automounts
See Red Hat Bugzilla bug #846852 for details. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=846852 FYI: We discovered that after updating to EL 6.3 on our x86_64 server, autofs 5.0.5-54 broke our nightly backups that rely on automounting an NFS share hosted on another EL 6 machine on our local network. The machine hosting NFS server was configured to allow only TCP connections to the port

"if" function in pure R?
Thanks a lot Jiefei, I had thought of defining a binary operator (inspired by pipes) or simply using an additional condition in the if() calls [e.g. if(foo & fn(bar)) doSomeThing; with fn(bar) returning a logical], but both are workaround that I do not find as elegant as a proper control-flow construct. Thus two questions remain: - is it possible to create a control-flow construct in pure R?

more questions on setting up autofs on C7
Hi! Thanks to some of you I got autofs set up on my C7 netbook for mounting local cifs filesytems. Now I want to do something on my C7 desktop machine, that seems to me to be a little different, and I"m not sure how to do it. I have an external RAID1 box that attaches via USB. It is/will be nearly always /dev/sdc, but being USB I can't guarantee that it will always be found there.

Solaris SMF services and their dependencies...
Hi all, I have an NFS server on our network sharing out package files for Puppet to install to all and sundry. The clients access said NFS server via an automounter configuration (I don''t want the packages share mounted all the time, only when installing packages) As a result, installation of packages depends on autofs... So I have the following: service { "autofs": ensure

Best way to integrate CentOS in Windows AD environment
We currently use a combination of Kerberos and NIS to manage users on our CentOS 6 systems in a Windows AD environment. NIS is provided by Windows Services for UNIX (or something named similarly), which has some issues, and is also not going to be supported by Microsoft in the future. NIS supplies the passed file as well as the auto mount map for home directories as shown by this excerpt from

entropy and conditional entropy for continous variables
Hi, this is not a R question per se, but since I'm on the lookout for an R solution I thought this was the best place: I would like to calculate the entropy for a variable and the conditional entropy between two variables, H(X|Y) for variables X & Y I have coded the case for the categorical case but I'm having problems understanding how to do it for the continous case. >From

warnings when installing modules with latest from -unstable
I just cloned a xeno-unstable.bk tree ( < 30 minutes ago). autofs.ko didn''t get generated for some reason, so I did a separate make modules pass. Then I did a make modules_install from which I got a heap of unknown symbols warnings. I thought this might be fallout from the switch to 2.6.11. -Kip WARNING: /lib/modules/2.6.11-xen0/kernel/fs/fat/fat.ko needs unknown symbol _spi
