SElinux and Samba
Ok, so there is not a problem with SElinux and Samba. But it is a
pain to set up so it will work right. I finally figured out how to
set up SE and Samba so you can be able to write and delete files.
I found in one of that man pages "man samba_selinux", you can just
disable SE for samba. I am sure there are other ways also but this
is what I have found so far. I tried to just

here's the whole story:

Samba 3.0.20b - still getting "Winbind Dead but subsys locked"
I can remove the /var/locl/subsys/winbindd file to clear the subsys locked
message but this does not chnage the winbind crash problem.
I originally noticed this problem on 20a and thought that 20b had a fix for
the winbind crash.
Any clues?
I am running RH ES 4.0 64 bit with samba packages downlaoded from

re: Support of Samba on RHEL4?
Alex,
I could not agree more with you.
BTW, perhaps you already know, but just in case:
If you want to see the patches applied to a package during its
history, and you don't need to dig into the sources themselves, you
can query the changelog for an rpm package without having to download
sources:
rpm -q --changelog package
for example for my samba-3.0.10-1.4E.2
rpm -q --changelog samba

Fedora packages or Enterprise packages of Samba on RH EL4?
CentOS4 RPMS for x86-64 would be awesome.

Fedora packages or Enterprise packages of Samba on
Hello List,
In regards to RPM packages, what is the difference in the prebuilt ones for
example the FC5 RPM's directly from samba.org or obtaining the latest
.tar.gz and running ./makerpms.sh for the desired distribution.
Does this way optimize for example - x86-64 or SMP ?
Cheers,
Adrian Sender.

cacti on centos
Hi all,
I'm trying to get Cacti installed on my CentOS 4.3 x86_64 box. I've
got all of required packages installed, and created database file, and
followed all the instructions in install manual.
However, when I get login screen and use admin for username/password,
it simply redirects me straight back to login screen. Looking at
user_log table, the authentication was

Having problem getting Asterisk to work on CentOS 7
What are you using for the database - SQLite?
I am using mysql (mariadb).
I am not familiar with SQLlite. Can you access the database from the
console - look up the list of tables - display the contents from a
table? Anything to see if your SQLite is working and has asterisk data
in it.
From your Asterisk console,
|CLI> core show help database|
should give you a list of commands that you

I actually modified the old UW IMAP 2002 SPEC file from RHL9/FC1,
and modified a few config files, to support UW IMAP 2004b.
I made one with both RFC3501 (no text passwords over SSL) and
non-RFC3501 (legacy, text passwords

Bug report 3.0.2a; INTERNAL ERROR: Signal 11 in smbd; PANIC: internal error
Dear Samba team,
I?d like to a report a bug (INTERNAL ERROR: Signal 11 in smbd) that I
encountered with Samba after uploading printer drivers to the PRINT$ share,
while I was configuring the ?Printing Defaults? in the ?Advanced? tab.
Here?s the overview of the Samba server I use:
RHL9, Samba 3.0.2a compiled with MIT 1.3.1-7 and CUPS. Samba is a
domain member in a Windows 2003 ADS. No local

My Samba 3.0.4 server is an W2k3 ADS domain member, it uses winbind and
kerberos as authentication for shares, so "security = ADS".
I have the same

Dear list,
I?m using samba 3.0.4 on a RHL9 server as domain member in a W2k3 ADS (native)
environment.
The shares on the Samba server are used by XP clients and these clients get the
shares via scripting while they logon on the ADS.
In the ADS domain there are several ADS servers (on remote locations, connected
via routers) that have the same global catalog. This means that an XP client that

username.pem
Hi, folks,
Our system gets/creates /var/lib/ssh-x509-auth/<username>,pem, then
deletes it when the log out. selinux (in permissive mode) complains.
First, I changed the context to cert_t, and *now* it complains that
ksh93 wants write, etc access on the directory. grep ssh-x509-auth
/var/log/audit/audit.log | audit2allow offers me this:

"user 'root' does not exist" in winbindd.log after upgrade from 3.0.2a to 3.0.3
Dear list,
After the upgrade from 3.0.2a to 3.0.3 I see in my winbindd.log file all the time "user
'root' does not exist" messages.
I didn't get these messages with my 3.0.2a samba setup, but after the upgrade to
3.0.3 it is flooding my winbindd.log file, sometimes I get this message every minute in
my log file.

Fwd: Installing EnterpriseSamba (Sernet-samba) on Ubuntu
I will add here that my server provisioned yesterday afternoon. However,
I did not have time to do any testing.
So, this morning testing and the first thing I discovered was
"sernet-samba-ad" service was NOT running.
I found a Debian Wheezy sernet samba posting (via Google) and within it
read that users need to edit "/etc/default/sernet-samba" as follows:

patchless client on RHEL4
Is there instructions on how to use the patchless client on RHEL4 ?
For version 1.6.2
We would prefer a rpm, but we are not scared of doing a build if
needed.
