ArcView + Samba: Performance nightmare under Linux, ok under Solaris or HP-UX

Hi!
For some months now I'm hunting a Samba performance problem
without a solution yet.
Now I'm hoping someone on this list has an idea (In fact,
I already reported the problem to the mailing list but got
only one reply which did not help)
So I'm here for another try...
Here's the situation:

Extremely slow Samba3 performance with ArcView/WinXP
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi!
I have a user who is running a Samba server to store data
files for his ArcView 3.3 application. Client operating
system is Windows XP professional.
With Samba2 (2.2.8a) this was working quite fine, it usually
took less than a few seconds to load and render one of the
GIS presentations with ArcView.
We then did an upgrade to Samba3 (3.0.20b)

Mails causing imap process to hang.
Hi Timo,
We are getting e-mails from a certain domain that seem to cause the IMAP
process to hang.
Here's how it looks like if we issued a FETCH 40 FULL:

Hi all
I want to move mails from folder test-ein to another folder test-aus
with the new "doveadm move" command in dovecot 2.0.12. When I try the
following I get a "Segmentation Fault" after the mail was copied to
the new folder:

Weird samba problems / more info
I have a level 10 debug of the smbd/oplock process_local_message problem
but can still not figure out what causes the unknown UDP message command
code. I checked the source but could only see that this is an invalid
opcode command.
Anyone a clue what is happening here ?
Might wrong opcode commands crash samba ?

empty FD after reopen since version 1.2.16
Hi all,
after upgrading xapian I encountered the same problem as described in
ticket
#645 Read block errors after reopen()
in our setup its 100% reproducible after each reopen(). I downgraded
again and it seems the problem occurs in Version 1.2.16 and above.
in <=1.2.15 everything works fine without seeing this error once.
attaches strace shows read ends on FD.
strace starts at reopen()

Hang in 1.0.alpha4
My IMAP client hangs intermittently. When it does, Dovecot has prematurely
stopped sending a response and entered the poll loop. My client is waiting
for more data and Dovecot is waiting for an IMAP command.
This problem seems to occur when I connect to the dovecot process over
the network and when I run the imap binary directly via an SSH tunnel.
Below is truss output from the imap process

dovecot and time
I found something interesting via strace. lda is writing a timestamp
with utime before doign the fsync, but I'm really not a C guy, so I
have no idea why that's going on via procmail and not via commandline.
I assume it's related to the choice of pread64 vs read.
when called from commandline (working):
read(0, "July 14-20, 2013\n10 courses. Bon"..., 4096) = 4096

Assigning colors on low p-values in table
Hi all R-users,
I?m trying to assign colors on those p-value in my table output that fall
above a certain critical value, let?s say a p-value >0.05.
My table looks like this:
Assets ADF-Level P-Value
ADF-First D P-Value ADF-Second D P-Value
[1,] Liabilities -2.3109 0.1988 -3.162
0.025 -6.0281

Unit root
I am confused by obtaining different results when testing for unit root when using different packages. I have 2625 price entries for which I want to determine whether they exhibit unit root. First I test using adf.test from tseries package by running:
> adf.test(P, k=30)
Augmented Dickey-Fuller Test
data: P
Dickey-Fuller = -4.685, Lag order = 30, p-value = 0.01

Help on function adf.test
Hello everybody,
I've got a matrix called EUROPEDATA and I want to calculate the adf test statistic (part of the tseries package) on a rolling basis for window my.win on each column; i.e. each column of EUROPEDATA represents a particular variable; for the first column I calculate the adf test statistic for window my.win = 60 for example, roll forward one observation, calculate the adf

Nat issue one way audio on IP dial
hi there,
i have posted earlier on the list but got no satisfying answer. the problem
is not big.
I have asterisk server directly connected with internet (79.80.x.x) and

RTP stream not passing through router with port forwarding
Hi,
I am trying to dial a registered user via his IP:Port mechanism, but problem
is that the audio data is not reaching to dialed user. here is the scenario.
caller and callee both are registered at asterisk server. asterisk server is
on public ip so no port forwarding and natting necessary there. however
caller and callee both are behind router and there is port forwarding
enabled and nat=yes,

nls with plinear and function on RHS
Dear R gurus,
As part of finding initial values for a much more complicated fit I want to
fit a function of the form y ~ a + bx + cx^d to fairly "noisy" data and have
hit some problems.
To demonstrate the specific R-related problem, here is an idealised data
set, smaller and better fitting than reality:
# idealised data set
aDF <- data.frame( x= c(1.80, 9.27, 6.48, 2.61, 9.86,

Using ADF.Test
Hi,
I am quite new to R and would appreciate some guidance, if possible.
I have imported a csv file: spread <- read.csv("Spread.csv")
I get the following error when I try to run adf.test:
> adf.test(spread,alternative = c("stationary", "explosive"),0)
Error in embed(y, k) : 'x' is not a vector or matrix
Why is this?
