Dovecot and IPA
Hi Ranbir
I've worked with freeIPA a little, but without your doveconf or some other
context information, it is difficult to identify the issue.

Dovecot and IPA
Hello,
I'm trying to get Dovecot to use GSSAPI for authentication. I have an
IPA server on CentOS 7 with a bunch of my servers attached to the IPA
domain, including the server running Dovecot.
I've followed official documentation from Red Hat and read numerous wiki
articles on how to configure Dovecot to get it to use GSSAPI correctly.
I don't think I've done anything

Oracle java RPM
Hi Everyone,
Years ago the recommended way to install Sun's java was to install from
the tar.gz file because the RPM they supplied did some bad things
(clobbered other files or something...can't remember the details). Is
this still the case with Oracle's java RPM, or is it now safe to
install?

kvm in Centos 5.3
Hi All,
Is KVM support in CentOS 5.3 complete? That is, can a CentOS 5.3 system
host KVM VMs or does CentOS 5.3 only support being virtualized via KVM?
I ask because I installed KVM on a CentOS 5.3 host, but I can't find a
kvm module anywhere in /lib/modules/* (let alone the running kernel).

[OT] External RAID storage / NAS
Hello List,
I need storage for my home network - lots of storage. It's going to
hold pictures, home movies, music, other bits of data, etc.
I'm looking to start at about 500 GB, but I'd need to eventually grow
that to 1 TB, or more. I also want something that is quiet, has hot
swappable drives (not necessary, but a plus), is fairly easy to manage,
and
can be directly attached to

CentOS 6 x86_64 DVD doesn't boot
Hi Everyone,
I downloaded the CentOS 6 x86_64 DVD ISOs and burned the first image to
a rewritable DVD. When I tried to boot my new home server off it, it
didn't, and then this was printed to the screen:
ETCDisolinux: Found something at drive = EF
No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found!
boot:
The same disc works fine in my 4 year old HP laptop, and when installing
CentOS 6 as a KVM.

CentOS 4.4 not seeing all RAM
Hi Everyone,
My server is only seeing 4.8 GB out of 6 GB available. I don't know
why.
I have a CentOS 4.4 x86_64 server running on a Tyan s2895 with 6 GB of
RAM (two 1 GB sticks and 2 2 GB sticks). I upgraded the RAM, powered up
the server, and when CentOS was finished booting, checked the available
RAM with free. This is what it's reporting:

Adaptec 2230SLP not detected
[I originally sent this using the wrong email address - apologies if it
appears twice]
Hello Everyone,
Has anyone tried installing CentOS 4 x86_64 on a machine with an Adaptec
2230SLP card? I've just tried it, and Anaconda could not detect the
card.
I've manually loaded the aacraid driver, which then starts the install
process. But, when the install gets to disk partitioning, the

nut rpms for CenOS 4
Hello Everyone,
Does anyone know where to grab RPMs for nut? Or, at the very least, a
spec file that could be used to build a new one for CentOS 4?
I'd much rather use apcupsd, but the UPS in question is only supported
via nut.

logwatch reports not benig emailed
Hello,
I have a couple of CentOS 5 servers, and third running in a FC6 domU.
I've configured postfix on those servers to not deliver any email to the
local system, but to instead relay mail to an internal mail server. I
also set up /etc/aliases to send all mail to root to me, ksandhu.
I can send mail on the command line, and I get it at my email address,
delivered to the internal mail

freeradius version
Hi All,
The freeradius version in CentOS 5 is ancient, so I've been considering
rebuilding the Fedora 10 rpm for freeradius-2.1.3 on CentOS. That means
I'll have to maintain the package, and I'm not an uber packager.
Normally I wouldn't care, but in this case I do because the freeradius
server is going to be critical.
So, should I rebuild the F10 rpm, or should I just stick with

saslauth in postfix 2.2 on CentOS 4
Hi All,
I have a mail server with CentOS 4 (fully updated) running dovecot and
postfix. I have a couple of virtual domains, so I've setup postfix and
dovecot accordingly. That is, dovecot is doing the auth for internal
hosts, and postfix is handling sending/receiving for both domains.
What I want to do now is open up pop3s and smtp over TLS, which will
give me access to my two domains from

RAID: by host or within KVM?
Hi Virtualizers,
I just setup a CentOS 6 box (at home) to run as a KVM host. It's replacing
an absolutely ancient CentOS 5 server that's running Xen. I have one OS
drive, and two drives in RAID 1 with LVM on top which is being used as the
KVM storage pool.
I created a KVM that will run OpenMediaVault (OMV). OMV requires an OS
drive (which is really a LVM), and a separate drive(s) to

Default printer environment variable
Hello All,
I'm trying to get the iSeries Access for Linux client (IBM 5250
emulator) working on a CentOS 4.4 system. The client is mostly working
- it connects to the remote AS/400, the custom keymap I created is
recognized, etc. The only problem is printing to a local printer.
The docs for the client state that it reads the default printer
environment variable to figure out which printer

Evolution forgetting read mail
Hi all,
Has anyone seen Evolution "forget" which emails have been read in CentOS
4?
I have a client that's reported he's reading his email, closes
Evolution, and when he starts it again, the messages are marked as
unread.
I found bug reports about this here:

Assign external esata drive to KVM
Hello Everyone,
I have a CentOS 6.3 host running a few KVMs. One of them is a CentOS
6.3 KVM that I want to use for making backups with BackupPC. What I'm
having a problem with is assigning the KVM an external drive.
I used to run BackupPC on an Ubuntu box. The backups went to an external
eSATA 1.5TB, ext4 format, single partition drive (regular 3.5" in an
enclosure). I want to now

Raw print queues in CentOS 4.4
Hi All,
I have a raw print queue configured in CentOS 4.4 for a printer
connected to a Windows PC. The printer doesn't have a Linux driver of
any sort, so this was the only way to print to it.
The printer is an Okidata dot matrix printer. Users can print to it
from a console application, but if they try printing to it from OOo
Writer, the printer spits out reams of pages with what looks
