Logon script
Hello, I am having a little problem with executing logon scripts on Win95 clients, logging into Samba Netlogon service. When a user logges in, a MS-DOS prompt shows up and quicky disappears. Then I get "Please Wait While your logon script executes". It hangs at that point. A user has to hit cancel to start his win95 session. I have done the logon script in MS-DOS editor. I have the

Persistant Z drive in XP
Hello. New to SAMBA.(2.2.8 on RH9) Mixed environment of 98 & (trying) XP. My "net use s: /home" command works wonderfully for XP and 98. But XP throws in an "extra" "more home-than-home" directory - namely \username\.win_profile on the Z drive. I've tried disconnecting it with: net use Z: /delete, but XP claims to have a process running on it (even after 10

login scripts do not run
I have a simple script that sets the time on a Windows client at startup. The one-line script: net time \\myhost /set /yes Works perfectly well when I double-click it from Windows Explorer, so I don't think the problem lies there. The relevant lines in my smb.conf file: [global] time server = yes logon script = smbtimeset.BAT [netlogon] comment = shared scripts path =

Samba login errors of Vista PC to Samba DC
I am very new to Ubuntu/Linux/Samb and have very simple goals: Set up an Ubuntu Server as a Domain Controller to provide single signon for students using study center PC's. All of the PC's are Windows Vista Business. I have successfully added a PC to the domain. I have successfully created a network user and logged on to the PC. However, the Samba log is throwing errors and I have a

Group logon Scripts
We're almost at the stage of rolling out our new RH6.1/Samba server - one last item. We have some 60 users and 7 departments. Can I use/how do I use a logon script to log groups onto the server. I currently have 1 logon script per user, but a small change in 1 share means updating every script. Can I log them on by group ID but still map their personal shares with the %U flag so I then

Multiple Login scripts
Hi all, Just a quick question about login scripts for a large number of users who change rooms a lot. I have several rooms each with a printer, and nearly a thousand users divided into two main groups - pupils and teachers who change rooms on a routine basis. Is it possible to set up multiple login scripts that would be executed in sequence i.e. run by user is %u, and machine is %m is it

Samba 2.2.3a + Windows XP - Office 2K & Messenger Crashes
Hi, I have a samba server running for about 2 years and now I updated the server to RH 7.2 + All Updates and samba-2.2.3a. We have about 40 win98 boxes running without any problems. Now I'm trying to configure WinXP pro boxes, I've already managed to connect them to the domain, but I'm having very weird problems using Office 2K and Windows Messenger. When I logon using an

Several logon script bat files?
I simply wonder if I can have several different logon script bat files for MS Win users that validates through my Samba PDC? Let's say that group "users" should have logon batch users.bat and the members of the group "sales" should have both users.bat and sales.bat executed at logon? Or can I in some way use ONE script with parameters that knows about what groups the user

login script problem
Hello all. I'm having a bit of trouble with login scripts. Whenever a workstation logs in, the first line in the batch file gets run, but then a "Batch file missing" error is displayed. I've checked the permissions on the file and changed them to 777 and it still doesn't work. I'm using samba 2.2.2. Any ideas? Here's my config snippit: logon path =

problem adding PC to domain
I am running Red Hat 9 and Samba 3.0.4. I have a Win2K PC. I have made the registry change regarding requiresignorseal and signsecurechannel. When I try to join the domain it pops up the username and password. I put in root and it's password (which I have added/enabled with Swat). However I get the following results. The following error occurred attempting to join the domain

Samba PDC and Windows XP not executing logon.bat
I have spent most of the past 24 hours reading various samba docs and searching google for help -- but can't find a solution. Suggestions and solutions would be appreciated. I have set up a Linux Box (Samba 3.02) as a PDC with roaming profiles. (I haven't upgraded, because this box is a model for over 100 other boxes in the field). I can add XP users to the domain and their roaming

Login script for Win95 machines
On my Samba server I created a directory called 'netlogon' and I put a batch file in there called 'login.bat'. Also did I create a share called 'netlogon' which points to the 'netlogon' directory. I set up samba to use a login script (login script=netlogon/login.bat). Strange enough it does not seem to be executed when Win95 clients logon. If I double-click the

netlogon script generation
Can anyone point me to a doc or a script that shows how to generate netlogon script on the fly and supports users having multiple groups? I tried the Perl script referenced at <http://us2.samba.org/samba/docs/man/AdvancedNetworkManagement.html> but I believe it only supports the user being a member of one group. -- Andrew Gaffney
