3.0.21c safe_strcat string overflow w/ "net rpc share migrate files"
When migrating files off an existing Win2K file server using "net rpc share migrate files" with Samba 3.0.21c on SuSE 9.3 Pro I stumbled across a number of "string overflow by X in safe_strcat" errors on a few files with non-ASCII characters: myserver# net rpc share migrate files myshare --acls --attrs --timestamps -S win2k -U 'XXX\administrator'

ERROR: failed to setup guest info.
OK, I had this working a few days ago, but have evidently changed something that I cannot locate. Someone hit me with their 2x4. Samba 3.0.22, Fedora Core 4, ldapsam (OpenLDAP 2.3.24). smbd will not start, with the "ERROR: failed to setup guest info" error (I have "guest account = guest", which is a valid user with correct info in LDAP): ldap_connect_system: Binding to ldap

Inherit Permissions addition
Gentlemen, I was delighted to read about and test the "inherit permissions" feature of version 2.0.7 for myself. This is a wonderful addition to Samba; thank you, David Lee, for your fine work. After initial testing, it became apparent to me that inheriting the 'group' permissions on a subfolder within a share without also 'forcing' the group ownership on the new files

Greetings ... I saw a question about this go out a little while ago, I was wondering, if they are bad, or if I can just ignore them? I am using a Samba 3.0.2rc1 if that makes a differance ... Samba 3.0.14 (Debian Sarge) Memory Leakage
Hi! Our Samba file server seems to have a memory leakage. We are using samba as file server out of the box (debian sarge) on kernel 2.6.16.31. After a while users who have some shares and files open are acquiring more and more memory until the smbd dies. Here is a small shortcut from top: PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 13843 gxxxxx 16 0 51792 44m 2552 S

Samba works GREAT with these exceptions...
Hello everyone. I think Samba is wonderful. I have a full domain running here using ldap servers as the back end. The PDC connects to the master LDAP server while the BDC's do localhost lookups as they are slave LDAP servers. The following are snippets of logs that are appearing on my syslog host. Error is on top explanation below. Could anyone point me in the right direction? I am running

SMBFS stack overflow?
Sorry about the previous message... Note that the maintainer listed in MAINTAINERS is no longer active, so perhaps it should be updated? I've found a problem with SMBFS and *really* long pathnames. It causes the kernel to OOPS, and sometimes corrupts the kernel stack. I've even had it corrupt the SLAB allocator so bad that no binary could be run :) REPORTING-BUGS format answers, let

copy d:\bugs.ps \\ouessant\lexmark after having deleted all the samba log files and restarted the SMBd daemon from the SWAT Web interface. This leads to the INTERNAL ERROR, see samba.oulx Now, to locate the problem, I tried the same kind of command on the same file, bugs.ps, but using the SMBCLIENT application from the Linux server itself, without changing anything, nor restarting the SMBd

Samba 3.2.5 and vscan-clamav.so
Hello Recently I migrated from samba 3.0.24 to samba 3.2.5 on Debian etch amd64. In old system I have working samba-vscan used with ClamAV 0.91. Now I have ClamAV 0.94.2. I compiled vscan-clamav successfully, but when I try to connect to the share, it fails and I get some strange messages in the samba logs: "Error trying to resolve symbol 'init_samba_module' in

heartbeat segfaulting on CentOS 5 x86_64 (xen guest)
Hello, I'm having trouble running two linux-ha heartbeat nodes and have them talk to each other (or actually one of the nodes just doesn't work even for local basic admin stuff, including a simple "service heartbeat stop") and apparently it all boils down to the following Bug in Linux-HA: http://developerbugs.linux-foundation.org//show_bug.cgi?id=1678 I'm persuing this with

Does this mean pool allocation is using TDeq and not BUeq

1.4 segfaulting when manager client is connected
I was just trying astman with the latest svn trunk from Dec 31. It connects, but if I attempt to make a call, asterisk segfaults, but in pthread_kill in /lib/tls/libpthread.so not in the asterisk code. Is this something others have seen? This is with glibc-2.3.4-2 I just upgraded to 2.3.6 (the lastest for Fedora core 3) and it's the same. Not much of a traceback, it's happening here:

Asterisk SVN bug segfaulting
hello everyone! I just got the newest asterisk SVN: trunk# svnversion 152803 and compiled it. then I made some test-calls. 1. Calling my mailbox. It worked, but quality was not good, in comparison to 1.6.0-beta9. I called via mISDn. 2. Just call myself. Result: Ringing and asterisk segfaulting. 3. Same for calling some gtalk-number and using app Dial mISDN/1/my_number. I got this a
