Samba 3.0.21b winbind crash
I'm using Samba 3.0.21b on SuSE 9.3 Pro (x86) with the binary RPMs from samba.org/suse.com (3.0.21b-1.1.2-SUSE-SL9.3) on a Domain Member Server in ADS mode with winbind against W2K3 SP1 AD servers and idmap uids/gids stored in a central OpenLDAP directory. Unfortunately, winbind gives me a hard time and reproducibly dies with a PANIC on a "wbinfo -g", although I think I've

Domain "ABC" is the resource domain where the servers are located. Domain "XYZ" is the domain that the primary user accounts

Winbindd startup kerberos fail
I'm trying to learn about the interactions between SAMBA and Win2k DCs.??The eventual goal is to have a Win2k server with ADS working with a FreeBSD SAMBA server.??I've?used?the?setup?from http://oslabs.mikro-net.com/fbsd_samba.html and many other articles as the basis for what I've done so far. Winbind seems to work and I can show users and gropus using wbinfo although I see some

smbstatus output question
Can anyone tell me how smbstatus does its host name resolution? When I run smbstatus with no switches (3.0.20 on Suse 10.0), the output of hosts mostly shows IP addresses, but a couple hosts will show up by name. I've confirmed that all of the hosts are resolving in DNS through both forward and backward lookups (dig and dig -x) from the Samba host. Also, wins lookups also seem correct

smbstatus not working as non-root user
Hello all, This is for HP CIFS Server A.01.11.03 / Samba 2.2.12, on HP-UX 11.0. I've got a problem with smbstatus: if run as root, it displays everything as expected. If run as a regular user, it displays only the following: $ smbstatus tdb(/var/opt/samba/locks/connections.tdb): Failed to create active lock file tdb(/var/opt/samba/locks/connections.tdb): Failed to create active lock file

smbstatus connection.tdb not initialised
HI, I recently upgraded from SAMBA 2.0.7 to SAMBA 2.2.2. I downloaded the binaries (from samba.org binary packages) for HP UX 10.20. I am able to map drives and print however when I execute smbstatus (even at the root level) I get connections.tdb not initialised. This file does not exist in the /var/opt/samba/locks directory. I changed my log level to 3 to try to see what is going on but

What is the meaning of the output from smbstatus?
Hello, If I use Samba as a PDC, what does the output from "smbstatus" mean? Will all logged in users be displayed at all times when I do "smbstatus -b"? The reason I ask is that users who are logged in occasionally disappear from the output of smbstatus, even though they are still logged in. Is this to be expected? regards, David

smbstatus for open files?
Hello, can I use smbstatus to get all open files? Prior to 3.0.21a it works fine with "smbstatus -d 0 -L | grep DENY | wc -l", but now I get files and directories. Is there an other way to count all files opened by users? Kind regards Matthias

smbstatus -b shows bogus connections
Hi, I have samba 3 (samba-3.0.10-1.4E) on RHEL4.1. I have updated from RH9 and samba 2.x The 'smbstatus -b' command shows connections that does not exists. For example, a user connects to their windows XP session and then disconnects. But smbstatus -b shows that the user still connected even if that user have used only 10 minutes the cliente PC. I think it should be a problem with .tdb

smbstatus after upgrade from 3.5 to 3.6
Hi, recently I updated my samba from 3.5.19 to 3.6.12. After that smbstatus only shows the 'Locked files' section if run as root. I found a bug report related to my problem, but there is no answer: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9432 Was the change intentional and/or is it possible to restore the old behaviour? regards, Hilko

2.0.0: lost localized characters in smbstatus
linux 2.0.35, samba2.0.0 compiled from tgz. I have: character set = ISO8859-1 and client codepage defaults to 850, so that testparm shows client code page = 850 With samba 1.9.18p8, smbstatus showed the filenames with localized characters ok (ie: libert?.txt) I use the same smb.conf with 2.0.0 Now, with samba 2.0.0, if I connect with smbclient to a Samba share I see those characters ok, but

smbstatus information and layout
Hi, I am working on a product that collects information about what is happening on the operating system. I was wondering if the information provided by the smbstatus command is available in a programmatic way? The reason for asking this is that I have access to several systems using samba and each one is running a different version and I have seen two distinct formats for the data. If there

"smbstatus" reporting strangeness
I've recently added the following line to inetd.conf, to allow clients to connect at Port 445: microsoft-ds stream tcp nowait root /usr/local/sbin/smbd smbd -d 1 That works, but the connections that are started that way produce the machine name "smbd" in the output of "smbstatus". The machines that connect to the main listener (at port 139, started with
