KMO sampling adequacy and SPSS -- partial solution
Dear colleagues,
I've been searching for information on the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO)
Measure of Sampling Adequacy (MSA). This statistic is generated in
SPSS and is often used to determine if a dataset is "appropriate" for
factor analysis -- it's true utility seems quite low, but it seems to
come up in stats classes a lot. It did in mine, and a glance through
the R-help

Kendall's tau-c
Hello,
I can't find a package which calculates Kendall's tau-c. There is the
package Kendall, but it only calcuates Kendall's tau-b.
Here is the example from

cityriots <- data.frame(citysize=c(1,1,2,2,3,3),
riotsize=c(1,2,1,2,1,2), weight=c(4,2,2,3,0,4))

3.0.23rc3 pam_winbind error
Hi
3.0.23rc3 pam_winbind on SLES9/i386 with the provided RPMs doesn't work:
PAM unable to resolve symbol: pam_sm_authenticate
PAM unable to resolve symbol: pam_sm_setcred
Is this a compile problem ? SLES9 specific ?
I am trying to setup the cool Kerberos integration that Samba can do for
Linux. Can anyone point me to docs about that ?
Thanks,
Schlomo

SEM interaction
Hello all,
This is a general stats question--I realize it is an R help list, so
tell me to go away if it is inappropriate.
I have a 2 X 2 design, and I have specified four identical path models
(one for each level of each factor). I want to test for an interaction
at each path--essentially (A1 - A2) - (B1 - B2) != 0. I was thinking of
computing a contrast for each path of interest, such that

tinc config(?) problems
I'm having a bit of a problem getting tinc up and running between a pair of
RedHat (one 6.0, the other 6.1) boxes. It's installed and configured to the
point where they can connect, but I'm not seeing any traffic passing
between the two systems.
System A looks like -
tinc.conf:
# Sample tinc configuration.
# Insert your own ip numbers instead of the placeholders,

Can't connect to Domain Member Samba server 3.0.23rc3
Hi list,
I followed Chapter 6 in the Samba how-to collection and I have
successfully joined my samba server to my w2k3 domain.
The kerberos tickets works as planed as I can connect to my DC from
samba with kerberos authentication.
BUT I can't seem to connect from Windows to the samba server using
domain user accounts.
Below is my smb.conf output from testparm.

File attribute problem 3.0.23
We have a problem with an application that clears the archive bit before
writing and sets it after writing.
The latter one doesn't succeed if the writer != file owner.
Dos filemode is enabled and manually setting is fine.
Samba is 3.0.23RC3.
Client is XP/SP2.
Seems to loose the connection before setting the bit and a new smbd is
spawn.

Open files
Hello
I'm running a Win2K box with a dialogic voice application. The prompt files
are on an AIX 5.1 box. By using smbstatus I'm finding that the prompt files
aren't closing. The open files build up until the server hits the per
process limit, at which point everything falls apart.
I was running samba 2.07, but I just upgraded to 3.0.23rc3 and I still have
the problem.

Trouble accessing to shortcuts and Writing to Shares in Windows XP (Samba 3.0.22)
I have a Samba server in a SuSE Linux 10.1 installation (x86_64 P IV),
installed from SuSE RPMs (Samba 3.0.22). In our test instalation all our
clientes works without problem, but from time to time, our users with
Windows XP Service Pack 2 get a extrange error when trying to access or
write some files. We have isolated the problem to shared folders that
have a read and/or write list. We have this

Samba 3.0.22 PDC - "The parameter is incorrect"
Hi everyone;
I have searched the internet up & down for an answer to this problem. I'm stumped.
Here's what I've got:
Samba 3.0.22 configured as a PDC using tdbsam as the passdb backend (switching to LDAP when I get everything working).
testparm says everything is fine. I've added the root user and a normal user to the database (using smbpasswd). I even went so

3.0.22 to 3.0.23a and sambaSID
Hi,
I try to upgrade 3.0.22 to 3.0.23a and have read the RELEASE NOTES, but I
cannot connect via windows after upgrading.
So I copied the new samba.schema and added "index sambaSID sub" to
slapd.conf.
I stopped the ldap Server and ran slapindex.
So after doing an smbldap-usershow on console I saw all informations about
the wanted user, but I am not able to logon via windows.

want to open it from samba share, they can't.

Oplock break failed for file file.xls -- replying anyway
Could you tell me what can I do to solve this problem?
btw, there are no problems in network, looks like file is too large and
