samba-vscan-clamav -realtime file scanning on Samba server
Hello List, I posted on the K12LTSP wiki an howto on how to setup samba-vscan-clamav on a Samba file server. This maybe should be on the samba wiki, but I think it would apply to most folks here using K12LTSP, as well. It takes about 15 minutes to setup and have working. I did post a link to download a precompiled module for this that will work on Samba-3.0.23c which shipped with K12LTSP EL5.it

Missing rpms for samba-ldap script
I was pointed to: http://web.vcs.u52.k12.me.us/linux/smbldap/ As an effective script to get samba/ldap configured for a PDC. It is written for Fedora 3 core or the K12LTSP distro. of course I discovered this after installing the Centos distro. Now it is decision time: stay with Centos and get this working or move the the K12 distro. This setup is for the small business network in my basement

Some repo fancy footwork?
I am looking at K12LTSP-EL5 which is Centos 5 based. Supposedly their disc2 maps to Centos 1of6 and so forth. I have a repo of the Centos 5.1 isos: /centos/5/os/i386 The question is can I put the K12LTSP disc 1 in a directory: /centos/k12ltsp-el5/i386 then with some logical link magic make this directory appear to have all 7 CDs worth of content? Or put the k12 disc 1 somewhere else

Hello I can save you a lot of time, and tell you that it wont work. It does hold some registration information in the asterisk database, but most of the information is kept internally in Asterisk. Hi all, Since September 2006, I've been using a samba PDC (3.0.20) with tdbsam, to authenticate the users of a school network (90 XP boxes). All the users are able to log in the network from XP boxes. How to use alias interface ?
HiHo, I'm using wine since a couple of years for a private Diablo game server. Now, while installing a new server I've a problem where neither the Wine-Doc nor the Wine-Faq or Google could help me in any way. My problem with the new server is that I need to configure (or better restrict) my wine to use my alias-interface instead of the primary one. I already found the following stuff

ActiveComputerName vs ComputerName
Hi! ComputerName and ActiveComputerName are values from registry (HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ComputerName\). If I use `wine regedit` to set ActiveComputerName to any value after a short time it becomes equal to the value of ComputerName. Can I set ActiveComputerName different than ComputerName? P.S. I have wine-1.3.13 and UseDnsComputerName=N.

Override unjoined computername with SAMDOM to allow connection to share
Hi, I have a Samba 4 domain (separate DC and file server), with a bunch of Win/Mac/Lin domain joined machines, everything works on that side. I have a machine with a read-only SOC which can't take a \ or @ in the username, and in the samba file server logs, I see it is authenticating with it's computername in place of the domain: [2023/08/02 09:46:24.265533, 3]

Migration: server with smb 2.2 -> new server, 2.2 too, weird issues
Hello all at the samba list. The other day there was a migration of server; the old one had Samba 2.2 (.6) working normally. Every user logged in the domain without problems, their SIDs and the domain SID were right, everything was ideal. But a server update was needed, and a new server was installed, also with Samba 2.2 (.12). The difference in version is not important this time as other

network drives
Another nicety may be handling network drives. I''ve been using a ruby script which manipulate using the "net use" command to map network drives, disconnect network drives, query to see what drives are connected, etc..., but it''d be sweet if this type of functionality was included in win32 package. Maybe usage like: nd = Win32::NetworkDrive.new(

The easiest way for Fedora 14 to Centos 6 migration?
I manage several Fedora 14 servers. They was not upgraded due to several reasons (systemd unreliability, K12LTSP support absence), some newer packages I was building & updating manually, some other (OpenOffice, Mozilla) was possible update from projects binaries. Now I consider the options to migrate them to Centos 6, possibly the easiest possible way. What I'd like is some as yum

Changes to the profile will not be copied to the server. Possible
