Interdomain Trusts and Winbind
Hello all,
I want two Samba PDC's to trust each other.
It says I need Winbind to be running on the trusting domain.
To run Winbind, one of the steps is to join the PDC domain.
Can one PDC join another PDC's domain??
Can someone please tell if i'm configuring this correctly?
Thanks.
Jason.

Secondary Group Access on another Samba PDC
I have 2 Samba PDC's, one on DomA, the other on DomB.
My pc is connected to DomA and i can access DomA's shares all fine.
When I access DomB's shares it connects me as the user with the same
name (diff UIDs) in the passwd file. The user it connects me as on DomB
is a secondary user of GroupB.
When I try to create a new file in a folder on DomB that has GroupB
permissions. It says

Looks like a bug in subsetting of a complicated object
I don't understand what is happening! I have a (large) object sim1, an
matrix list
with dim c(101,101) where each element is an 3*3 matrix. I am
subsetting that with
a matrix coo, of dim c(100,2), of unique indices, but the resulting object
has length 99, not 100 as expected.
Code reproducing the problem follows:

persp3d and rgl.viewpoint for rotating 3D plots
Dear R-users,
within the rgl-package, I would have a question about the usage of persp3d in combination of rgl.viewpoint.
I am not able to figure out how to let a 3D plot rotating around likewise the example in ?rgl.viewpoint. It seems that when I use persp3d(...) I see something on my screen, which is different from what I get when it's rotating. Is there any different behavior between

Strange unexplainable CUPS problem after upgrade to 5.10
I manage a bunch of workstations at the Wendell Free Library. They are all
diskless, boot via PXE and mount all of their file systems via NFS from a
server. All of the machines are 32-bit and run CentOS (fully up-to-date
running 5.10). There are two printers with queues managed on the server. The
server 'shares' these printers on the local LAN (eg with all of the
workstations).

CUPS setup with 3.0.3pre1
Hello,
I am currently trying to setup Samba 3.0.3pre1 to share my freshly
installed LaserJet. I have NOT had any printer until now, so I can't
tell you if the behavior was different before 3.0.3pre1.
The problem:
My smb.conf contains:

> ## Printing
> load printers = yes
> printcap name = cups
> printing = cups
> [printers]

resdiuals of random model estimated by plm function
Hi all,
I have estimated a random panel model using plm function.
I have a question about the vector of resduals obtained with the
object $residuals.
example:
data("Produc", package = "plm")
zz <- plm(log(gsp) ~ log(pcap) + log(pc) + log(emp) + unemp,
model="random", data = Produc, index = c("state","year"))
res<-zz$residuals #

Samba / cups problem
Hi all,
I have set up a printer in cups and I can see it with lpstat -a, and I can
print to it. I put what I thought was the appropriate stuff in smb.conf, and
yet no printer shows up to the NT client I'm testing with, or in smbclient -L
output. Any ideas at all? Here is the relevant info:

Samba/CUPS new printer not showing up, must restart
Someone please say it isn't so. I'm running Samba 2.2.7 on Linux,
compiled from source. I use CUPS for my printing needs and I have samba
setup to load printers.
I'm having 2 problems:
1) if I add a new printer to CUPS (which in turn adds it to
/etc/printcap) it doesn't show up in Samba. I've tried to -HUP the smbd
process to get the printer to show up and that

Cups printers troubles
Ok... here we go,
I have a server running RH 7.3, samba 2.2.3a, and CUPS 1.1.14. All the
printers we have are networked printers sitting off of Linksys
printservers. On this server I am sharing all off our printers out via
Samba. See my smb.conf file below. This server works perfectly. All
printers are shared out successfully.

Which versions of CUPS and Samba are you using?
And are you *really* still using the "cupsomatic"-PPD
from Linuxprinting.org for that *PostScript*-printer??

printing = cups issue ....
Using samba 3.4.9 and cups 1.4.3
I have "printing = cups", but for some reason samba is not picking up the cups printers or creating the printers share.
The problem is obviously this, from the samba logs:
[2011/03/28 14:09:43, 0] printing/print_cups.c:103(cups_connect)
Unable to connect to CUPS server localhost:631 - Connection refused
However, cupsd is most certainly listening

Construction of a large sparse matrix
Dear List:
I'm working to construct a very large sparse matrix and have found
relief using the SparseM package. I have encountered an issue that is
confusing to me and wonder if anyone may be able to suggest a smarter
solution. The matrix I'm creating is a covariance matrix for a larger
research problem that is subsequently used in a simulation. Below is the
latex form of the matrix if

Clarifying CUPS Printing
We have been using CUPS to handle printing and have run into some "features"
some of which a fresh install of the responsible server will probably fix.
However there are some disparities between the documentation and our
practical experience for which a clear statement would help others.
The docs state when using CUPS the relevent lines of SMB.CONF should look
like this:
printing=cups

Slow printing to HP jetdirect from cups
I've googled for this and poked around linuxprinting.org, but couldn't
find anything helpful.
I have a CentOS 5 server with an HP LaserJet 4 attached via JetDirect
with the hplip driver. The problem is that when I have multiple print
jobs in the queue, there is a delay of about 15 seconds between each
job. This gets very annoying when there are 10-15 one-page jobs in the
queue.

biplot package
Dears,
I've been learning biplot (Gabriel, 1971) and I found the function 'biplot', inside of the package 'stats',
useful but, a bit limited.
So, I'm thinking to start a colaborative package to enhance this methods to other multivariate methods. In this
way, I would like to start it, making public a new function (biplot.pca, still in development, but running)

Samba and Cups [BUG in alpha24]

Not "vice versa". CUPS must be up and running ("lpstat -r" must be
returning "scheduler is running").
This is precisely because of the described bug, which causes
Samba *not* to update the list of available printers
