getaddrinfo() problem with AIX 4.3.3 and rsync 2.5.2?
I had to apply the following patch to the clientname.c check_name() function
before I could successfully use "hosts allow" in rsyncd.conf. Without the
patch I kept getting "rsync: forward name lookup for ... failed: Host not
found"
errors. These errors were produced by the rsync daemon, and putting in a
debugging statement revealed that the port_buf being used had a large

Security assessment
Hello,
Has any consideration or work been done to document or perform vulnerability testing for the R packages? In order to bring in software to my environments, I need to research known vulnerabilities (I usually use MITRE's CVE page) and also perform local Fortify and Nessus scans to determine an NVD score. It would be a huge help to have a way to package whatever tools/libraries/etc into

Question on "read only" behavior in smb.conf
Hi All,
I've built Samba v2.2.8a on a RedHat 7.2 system and it seems to work ok.
However
I cannot understand the "read only" parameter in the following situation:
smb.conf file:
-------------------
[global]
security=user
encrypt passwords=yes
[foo]
path=/tmp/foo
read only=yes
The owner&mode of /tmp/foo is:

ZFS upgrade.
Hello,
Is there a way to upgrade my current ZFS version. I show the version could
be as high as 22.
I tried the command below. It seems that you can only upgrade by upgrade
the OS release.
[ilmcoso0vs056:root] / # zpool upgrade -V 16 tank
invalid version ''16''
usage:
upgrade
upgrade -v
upgrade [-V version] <-a | pool ...>

Upgrading from V3.0 production system to V3.3
Before I undertake this upgrade I thought I would see if anyone has any advice
on how to do this on a production system. Maybe someone has already "fought
this dragon".
Current config Gluster V3.0.0. This has been in production for over 16 months:
2 servers with 8 x 2TB hard drives (bricks) replicated

OpenSSH and Solaris 9/Native LDAP
I am trying to get the latest version of openssh to work on a Solaris 9
native ldap client. We have a feature in ldap called "User must change
password after reset" enabled. According to the openssh docs, it says that
it will work with the "other" accounts listed in the /etc/pam.conf. We have
tried a lot of different entries in the /etc/pam.conf. Does anyone have any

auth problem: wbinfo works, smbclient doesn't
Hi guys,
I have a strange problem. I can authenticate a user with wbinfo from my domain
controller (security =3D ads), however when I try and map a share, the
authentication fails. i.e.
# wbinfo -a 'COAL+bcanglo%bcpass'
plaintext password authentication succeeded
challenge/response password authentication succeeded
# smbclient '\\xxxxxxx\timtest' -U 'COAL\bcanglo'

Please help: Any way to query host membership in nested ldap groups?
Hi all,
I have a openldap server setup with netsted netgruops,. Say the netgroups are:
ngA: (host1, -, - ), (host2, -, - )
ngB: ngA, (host3, - - )
ngc: ngB, (host4, -, -)
Is there a way to find host1's membership? so that I can return: ngA, ngB, ngC?

FW: LDAP Idmap
In addition to the instructions below, you must have complied the NSS_LDAP from www.padl.com on your SAMBA PDC. I have written a how-to with instructions to compile NSS_LDAP and an example smb.conf attached to this email. I got the detailed directions from the "SAMBA 3 by example" at http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/
Good luck,
Pat
