time delay in group listing on win-machines
Showing the group of a folder/file in a mounted samba share under XP(SP2)/2003R2-Server need some seconds. Only the SID of the group and the owner is shown initaly This problem occurs not on a mounted share from a Windows-Server. 'getent group' on the Samba machine (via nss-ldap from 2003-AD) works perfect. I've no idea, where should I search. Can anybody please help? Thanks.

reading text file not table
Hello all, I'm looking for a way to be able to read a text file into R. It's a csv file but when I do "txt <-read.table("F00.csv", header=T, sep=",")" It doesn't read the file properly, and I only get 2 columns. If I open it up in OOc or Excel it open right with 7 columns. What I would really like to do is read the file as text and then split it and

Slow Kerberos Authentication
Just to update this, I'm going to upgrade to samba4 but it won't be for a few days yet, I'll keep this thread updated with what happens. To Switch or not to Switch... that is the question....
Hi, when using multiple * boxes, there appear to be 2 choices as to how to go about sharing cards and dialplans 1) using switch 2) using dial fail fall-through ie exten => 1,1, dial(xyz) exten => 1,2, dial(otherpbx/xyz) As i see it switch could end up being recurrsive resulting in a wild ooc pbx .. anyone got any opinions ? Slow Kerberos Authentication
No, no idee, but really, upgrade to samba, best option, in my opinion. If thats not possible, it happens.. A timeout option can be set in krb5.conf for example : kdc_timeout = 5000 You have these for krb5.conf to try out also. the complete list. des-hmac-sha1 DES with HMAC/sha1 (weak) aes256-cts-hmac-sha1-96 aes256-cts AES-256 CTS mode with 96-bit SHA-1 HMAC

LDAP server listening on UDP for resource location
Hi, If I understand the MS documentation right a Windows desktop uses DNS (or WINS) to determine a DC and then connects to the ldap udp port 389 to get further details about the DC. I do not want to run a full DC but only a "simple" Heimdal or MIT kdc for Browser Negotiate authentication. Does Samba include such a standalone ldap service which just returns the only supported

winbind: idmap_rid - no user mapping
Hello, I've some trouble with winbind and the idmap_rid feature in an ADS environment. (Opteron with Debian 3.1pure64, official Samba/Winbind packet 3.0.14a) Without "idmap backend = idmap_rid:...." in the smb.conf a "getent passwd" works fine. Then I delete the /var/lib/samba/*.tdb-files, activate idmap_rid in smb.conf (see below) and join the ADS-Domain once more -

R as a server in client server computing
I like to have a continuously running R process, which can receive a dataframe from a client (over TCP/IP), does some processing, and sends some data back. What is the prefered way to do this? Using the socket interface? Using omega's CORBA stuff? Does anyone has example code for doing so? Thanks for any help Regards -- Dr. Jens Oehlschl?gel-Akiyoshi Analyse MD FACTORY GmbH Gr?nstr. 15

Problems using ADS to validate Windows Network users on a Samba3 Member Server
Dear All: I made a change to my Samba configuration to enable Solaris ACLs in my Installation of Samba 3.0.11. After then, I lost the ability to permit domain users to browse the shares. The server is running Solaris 8 2/04, and Samba is bound against MIT Kerberos 1.4 and OpenLDAP 2.2.23. It authenticates to two Windows 2000 DCs. I had obtained a Kerberos ticket from the Domain Controllers,

chown/chgrp for winbind users doesn`t work

But I can`t chown/chgrp with accounts of the trusted domain. chown doesn`t work at all. chgrp works, but then only

[olug] TINC
IPsec Pre Shared Key for enterprise wireless is worse than PPTP according to https://www.cloudcracker.com/blog/2012/07/29/cracking-ms-chap-v2/ . Make sure IPsec is used with certificates instead. tinc is an educational project sponsored by a university aiming to grow awareness of encryption over the public internet.
