Samba turning
I have a two networks (across the country from each other) that are connected via ipsec through a Cicso pix. There is samba running on a Linux machine in the main office (call it office A) and users at the other office (B) need to get to it. After about three levels down, the response time back from the server is very slow (as it appears to be caching the directory listing). After as much as

AW: Cant browse network
Hi, I cant find any wins options in your smb.conf. I think you?ll need Wins for proper Network browsing. Maybe this Link would help you: http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/NetworkBrowsing.html ________________________________ Von: samba-bounces+benjamin.oeltze=fujitsu-siemens.com@lists.samba.org im Auftrag von bclark@eccotours.dyndns.org Gesendet: Do 29.09.2005 19:48

Checking the trust account password returned NT_STATUS_INVALID_HANDLE
I'm trying to setup a FreeRADIUS (version 1.1.6 w/ LDAP support) server on our new server here at home, which in turn should authenticate against the Samba server (also on the same host - version 3.0.25) which in turn uses an OpenLDAP server (CVS version HEAD as of 20070719). Samba works perfectly against the OL server. Authentication etc is a-ok. But regarding winbind, the first problem is

netlogin scripts
running debian 3.1 "sarge" ppc and samba 3.08 I want to have my win98se computer users to have their shares automatically mapped. 1. I have read that I would use a netlogin directory and put scripts in there? 2. Does anyone know if samba has to be set up a special way ADS, wins, etc... to use the netlogin directory and it's scripts? "this server is the only smb server

SMB/NMBD configuration troubles.
Folks, I am stumped! I have followed every tech tip I could find and I am still unable to complete my SMB installation. Specifically, I fail Test 4 and Tests 9 and 10. I believe the problem has something to do with the NMBD configuration. Below are the parameters of our system. Any help is greatly appreciated. login scripts not being run at session startup
List, I have a weird problem on a 3.0.20 PDC. My users can log on correctly (user credentials is in LDAP) to the domain but the login.bat file is not always run. For some people, it is always run. For other people, it is never run. For a final group, sometimes it runs, sometimes it doesn't. There aren't any real differences in the LDAP entry for the account. The relevant line in

Netlogin Service
Hi, I am just getting introduced to the Linux world - I have taken over a network that has a Windows NT 4 server and a Gentoo Linux server and I need to add a user. The Linux server is the PDC. I've gone through everything on both machines and think I've got it set up correctly but when I try to login from a W2K workstation, it reports that "the Netlogin service is not running on

Domain logins
Hi all. I recently (like, today :) posted a message about the best way to manage two samba servers and ten or so Windows NT 4.0 and 3.51 Workstation machines. I'm not sure if my question was clear, and I've also gathered more information about what exactly I want to do. These are all 3.51 and 4.0 workstation machines; there is no NT server involved. All workstations and two samba

Locking problem reported when starting smbd on a second systen!
I was successful installing and configured Samba 2.2.5 on my first Solaris machine. However, the second Solaris machine returns errno=11 (EAGAIN ~ Service Temporary Unavailable). I have tried to delete the "locks" directory to remove possible "old" locks - upon startup the smbd create new log files, but the same errors are reported again. Why only on one of my systems - I

IPTOS constants
defines.h defines a bunch of IPTOS constants if they're not already available: #ifndef IPTOS_LOWDELAY # define IPTOS_LOWDELAY 0x10 # define IPTOS_THROUGHPUT 0x08 # define IPTOS_RELIABILITY 0x04 # define IPTOS_LOWCOST 0x02 # define IPTOS_MINCOST IPTOS_LOWCOST #endif /* IPTOS_LOWDELAY */ A few lines further down, it includes <netinet/ip.h>, which

SunOS 4.x port
This is based on openssh-2.0.0beta1. There are a few rough spots: 1) SunOS doesn't have ut_type in struct utmp so I just whacked in the old login() from openssh-1.2.3. 2) There is a SUNOS4 section added to defines.h -- this could probably be a bit cleaner. 3) sigaction on SunOS is implemented via #defines to sigvec, thus there is no SA_RESTART (this is the default behavior).

protocol question
I'm trying to understand odd behavior in my LAN. I'm running Samba 2.2.5 and trying to run it as a PDC. I have 1-2 win98 clients, 1 XPSP1 client, and 1 Win2kSP3 client. I've managed to add the XP and 2K machines to the domain successfully, but still haven't finished configuring logins to work correctly -- something about my user not having permission to write to
