Scenario with CIFS
Hi all!
I'm trying to get samba working with CIFS, mounting a share on a client and
keeping the original file/dir permissions. The problem is that after I
(successfully) mount that share by CIFS, I can't write anything in it,
because I get a 'Permission denied' error. smbd version is 6.3.6.
My testparm is:
root at samba:~# testparm

Group Mapping: All Users from a Domain group should be able to write to a local group
Hello Mailinglist,
I have created a local user "localuser" who is in the local group
"localgroup"
$ id
uid=1001(localuser) gid=1001(localgroup) groups=1001(localgroup)
My machine authenticates against Active Directory - works
The AD-User "aduser" belongs to a domain group "adgroup"
$ id
uid=6161(aduser) gid=5513(dom?nen-benutzer)

ADS integration and local users...
Hello,
I have a Debian server with Samba. I've put this server in AD. Everything
is ok for domain users, but I can't connect with a local user !!!
I've created this local user :
# adduser local_user
# smbpasswd -a local_user
Then :
# smbclient \\\\192.0.0.1\\ressource -U local_user
Enter local_user's password:
Domain=[MY_DOMAIN] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.2.5]

Authentication of local users (smbpasswd) fails with security = domain
Hi list,
I have set up a samba installation (SLES 11, Samba 3.2.7) and joined a
domain. I've created local users (/etc/passwd) and can authenticate
with this users against the domain controller.
Now I want to add a local user (with smbpasswd) and authenticate with
this user which does not exist in the domain. When I'm trying to log
in with the user the log says:

Using dsync to export mail to remote IMAP account
I've read the web/man pages on dsync, but it's not clear to me whether
dsync can be used to export (rather than import) a user's mailbox to a
remote non-dovecot IMAP account.
(The intention is to use it whenever a user leaves and wants to copy their
local mail to Google or whatever. I currently use uw-imapd's mailutil --
it works, but it's dreadfully slow.)
As a first crack

SAMBA using existing users and passwords on Linux
Hello everyone.
I'm back because I decided to follow your advice and deploy the system
using a new version of SAMBA with encrypted passwords.
I added the SAMBA server in the AD domain without any problems and I am
already accessing the shares with AD users.
However I have a new problem for which I need help.
When I try to access SAMBA shares with local Linux users, it is necessary
to include

pjsip subscribe (presence) always returns: No matching endpoint found
Hello List
I am in the progress of migrating from chan_sip to pjsip.
I fear I have missed something on how hints need to be specified for
pjsip.
For chan_sip I have configured sip.conf
subscribecontext = localuser
and in the dialplan I set:
[localuser]
exten => 11,hint,SIP/11
Now if a phone subscribes to '11' this works.
Now I try to get the same working for pjsip. I understood

Authenticating AD users and Local users
Thank you for replying!
I can login with my Active Directory credentials, but I can’t login using the local CentOS “svc_dictations” account.
I created the local account usingusing “adduser”, “smbpasswd”, and then updating my smb.conf file (below).
Thank you,
Brian

domain user + local admin group
Howdy All,
My samba server has decided to throw a hissy fit and its quite distressing
( not hair tearing out yet but will be soon ). Samba Version 3.02
To give domain users admin rights to their local machine I have in the
past simply made domain users part of the local admin group. Perhaps not
the most elegant solution , but it works.
I today installed two more machines ( XP sp2 )onto the

Question about mount.cifs and smbclient
Hi!
I have a problem for a few weeks, and can't figure out what could be the
problem.
The client computer runs RHEL 5.2 (arch: x64_64); the smb server is
unknown for us.
I'm sorry, that I can't provide any info (usernames, servernames, IPs,
etc), they are masked to look like variables. But they are correct as
far as i am concerned.
When I try to mount it with mount.cifs (.smbfs

How to enable both remote and local users?
Is there any way to enable both local (/etc/passwd or smbpasswd) users
and users
authenticated remotely by winbindd?
I have a problem with samba-3.0.2a not recognizing local users at all,
if winbindd is enabled
(and vice versa, of course). However, I'd like to have local users
take precedence over
networked users, i.e. samba would let in a user, if he/she is a local
one and only ask the

Problem after joining Windows domain: Will Samba support "fallback" to local domain for authentication of local users?
Will Samba support "fallback" to local domain for authentication of
local users?
I joined a RHEL4 server running Samba 3.0.10-1.4E.11 to a Windows
2000/2003 mixed-mode domain today using "security = domain", after
having run for many months in "security = user" mode. Authentication
works fine for users defined in the Windows domain, but we have a few

lmtp_save_to_detail_mailbox override
Hi,
I have a dovecot 2.3.2.1 instance running here that is getting userdb and
passdb data from a SQL database. This was a cyrus server migrated over and
all users are happy.
All users except one: Said user asked if it would be possible to disable
subaddressing (localuser+folder at example.com) again.
The setting controlling that is AFAIK the lmtp_save_to_detail_mailbox
item.
My idea was to

samba>=3.0.4 - no more smbpasswd ? no more local auth whenjoined to domain ?
how about redirecting the smbpasswd file to the older version (assuming you
have one) using smbpasswd file = /file/path/smbpasswd , I replaced my copy
of smbpasswd for 3.09 with a 2.216 and the smbpasswd command stopped
working, (no new entry added to the smbpasswd file), but when i used that it
worked again

smbpasswd stops working post-upgrade
Background
I have a network of machines behind an air-gap, therefore upgrades are a
tedious business normally performed four times per year. The systems
run various versions of CentOS and I use the Samba that is distributed
with CentOS. Last weekend I updated the 5.7 machines with updates to 18
April 2016, not the current 5.8. Those of my users who run Windows
boxes (Windows 7 Enterprise)
