Samba sending broadcasts on wrong devices.
hi,
first of all i want to thank all the developers of Samba for that wonder ful
piece of software.
Now to my problem.
I run a samba server (smbd --version: Version 3.0.22) on a server that serves
two networks (eth0:192.168.0.254/24 and br0:192.168.1.254/24).
br0 is a WLAN interface with WDS support but i don't think that should be a problem.
I got it configured with

arp corrupted
Hi,
I've been trying to get a couple of routers up after h/w failure.
The border router is an OpenBSD firewall running NAT between the Internet and
a DMZ like subnet, and in that a Linux antivirus server is running NAT to the
LAN.
When the client does a DNS query it reaches to the f/w where dns is running
and is returned into the A/V server but never hits the 0.254 interface.

Samba browsing and NAT
BACKGROUND
---------------------
I have a system running Red Hat 7.1 (2.4 kernel) that I've set up on a
local subnet to server as a router to the outside world, including the
Internet. IP forwarding and NAT work just fine on the TCP/IP level.

Symlinks deletion behaviour
Hi List, hi Samba-team,
Recently I've faced some problem with directories deletion trough Samba and trying to clarify the root cause. The following happens:
1. There is a directory my_dir and symlink to it my_dir_link

$HOME/.shosts and setegid()
Hello,
The ssh deamon from OpenSSH_2.5.2p2 first does a seteuid(uid) and then
stat($HOME/.shosts) to check whether a .shosts file is there. This
seems to be a problem when homedirectories are only accessible "by
group permission"; for example in the following (as I guess quite
common) case:
drwxr-x--- root mygroup 512 Apr 10 12:09 mygroup
And my personal homedirectory would now

Hello,
I have set up a cups print server and would like to offer Point'n'Print
functionnality for the windows computer clients.
So, i've followed informations from the man page of cupsaddsmb as
resumed below:

-add x86 and x64 CUPS drivers (from cups SVN)
I then launch cupsaddsmb using the

No print to Samba (Linux) printer from Win98 - SOLVED.
I now have the deskjet print printing from my Win98 box. Something in the
"hpdeskjet" entry was causing the error of "No machine name found" to appear when
I tried to print from Win98. I fixed this by deleting the entry and re-creating
it. I also specifically added allowed IP addresses instead of using "all" in the
config file. I created a generic text printer

Cannot see the samba shares with Windows XP professional

My name is Chris and I'm new with Samba. Currently, the problem I'm having

Can connect directly, but not browse samba server from Windows Workgroup network
Dear Samba gurus,
I have a Fedora 8 linux server, running samba 3.0.28a-0.fc8. I am
doing the simplest thing of all - exposing a public read-only share
within MS Workgroup environment. My server has a fixed local IP
address (192.168.1.200) and it's on the same subnet as the rest of the
machines. The server and machines are connected to a 24 port CISCO
switch.
My problem is that I can

No joy adding a CUPS printer
I'm trying to change my Samba setup from LPD to CUPS, with little
success. I've followed [and re-followed] the setup documentation
from CUPS and I just can't get Samba to recognize my printer.
The catch is - it sort of recognizes it :-(
First I added these lines to my smb.conf:

I thought I had this configured correctly, but it stopped working when
I rebooted the other day. I looked through the archives and tried all
the stuff that looked relevent, but to no avail.
I have a redhat 6.0 server running samba-2.0.3, and a bunch of
windows98 clients. I'm trying to serve a shared directory with
basicly /tmp permissions and my printers.

smbprint'ing problem
Hey Folks,
I've spent several days weeding through list archives and FAQs.
I've been given the task to debug a samba printing issue and have
really no idea where to start. The version is 3.0.15a and the config in
question is exactly the same as the previous version we used. I believe that
was 2.8.x (not sure though)
I guess the problem is that no matter what I've tried the end

Where did I go wrong with this Samba configuration?
I'm just about to give up in despair of getting Samba working on my network. I've browsed through several books, HOWTOs and websites and still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Before I quit, could someone double check this and maybe spot what I've missed?
First, let me describe my network. Names and IP addresses have been changed to protect the innocent. :-)
