Need Help: Sometimes Stop during smbd start
Hi during Startup of SuSE-Linux 7.2 Prof. the PC is sometimes ( 1 of 10 times) stopping by start smbd. Reset knop the help only. I have this problem with the samba version in SuSE package and version 2.2.5 too. In the file ../rc3.d/S12smb I added 2 lines to see if nmbd and smbd are startet. I see nmbd is starting always, the text "SAMBA smbd gestartet" is in case of fault not printing.

Proper way to start multiple icecast services through bash script?
Philipp, I replaced: ps -ef | grep icecast | grep -v grep | awk '{print $2}' | xargs -r kill -9 with: pkill icecast This works. I did try "pkill -HUP icecast" but it didn't seem to have intended effect of refreshing certificate. ________________________________ From: Icecast <icecast-bounces at xiph.org> on behalf of Philipp Schafft <lion at

hosts allow option is not applaying without restart smbd
Hai, As Harald showed, this is a known thing, this did hit samba, after the multi threaded support. See also : systemctl cat smbd.service For what works what not. For a reload the kill -HUP MAINPID is, as i know, the only thing that works atm. Is this a AD DC or a member? ( sorry didnt follow the complet thread ) this catch my eye just now. Imo, for a member it should work, but i've

How to - Samba, winbind and Active Directory
Hi, I finally was able to to get samba/winbind to authenticate off W2k3 Active Directory. I seen a lot of info on the web on how to do this but I never seem to have one site that got me through it all. Anyway, with all the info I gathered I was able to put it all together, get it working and documented all the steps I used. I'm running Redhat 4 (2.6.9-55.0.2) with compiled Samba 3.0.25c

samba 2.05 with RH6.1 and Win98
Hello, I had samba working fine with RH6.0 but now I cannot get it to work... I cannot even see the SAMBA machine in my network neighbor hood. TCP/IP connectivity is fine... Has something changed in this version?? Why does the smb.conf now have 'server string' instead of 'netbios name'??? I have attached smb.conf and smb thanks Ken -------------- next part --------------

startup script for icecast
Hello, I was wondering about the feasibility of including a startup script for icecast for redhat/fedora installs? I've had to do an rpm install on an fc4 box, and a source install, rpms couldn't be found for an rh9 machine, yah i know that's old. And in both cases i had to drop in a custom-made startup script, see below. I was wondering esepcially in the case of the rpm, and

Help: Icecast running multiple times on Cent-OS
I'm not the most experience Linux user on the block so please excuse me if this is an easy fix. I noticed the other day while looking at my active services that Icecast has started more than once on my server. I'm wondering if someone would be able to look at my config and tell me why this is happening, or how to stop this from happening. My guess is that since I'm binding to an IP,

Xen and timekeeping
Hi everyone, I have the problem with Xen domU's and timekeeping in dom0. Time in dom0 was incorrect by 5 hours due to wrong timezone assumed. Fixed it by ntpdate ntp.nist.gov. The time on a dom0 was changed. I didn't append xen.independent_wallclock=1 to sysctl.conf thus the time in all domU's was also changed. But THEY DIDN'T "KNOW" THAT! The 'date' output
