Joining Samba 3.24 to 2003 ADS
I'm hoping someone can give me a clue what I am doing wrong here,
Running Debian Etch AMD64, I followed the samba wiki at:
http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_
<http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_&_Active_Directory#Prerequisites>
&_Active_Directory#Prerequisites.
I get mostly good results, except when I try to run 'getent passwd' or

Help with RHEL4 and AD 2003 Authentication
Hello,
I've been reading up on lots of documents that mention the different ways to
do things as far as joining a linux machine to AD and authentication. I've
tried most of them but its not helping at all. I've included my config files
for smb.conf, krb5.conf, pam.d/system-auth and the applicable
nsswitch.conflines. For security reasons, i've obscured part of the
domain name. Any

Can't configure GDM after update to CentOS 7.6
Hi,
It looks like the upgrade to CentOS 7.6 has been unusually disruptive
with the GNOME desktop version bump and a series of moving targets under
the hood. The result is some wreckage at my client's desktop
installations, which I've been busy to repair since yesterday. First
things first.
I have a custom configuration of GDM, which consists mainly of two things.

gdm login as root automatically
Hi all,
I was wondering if someone knows how to "automatically" login as root
with gdm and gnome.
I have been doing some searching, and havent been able to find a method.
I dont want to login
automatically all the time - its just part of install setup.
1) kickstart install
2) post section do somethings
3) setup so on reboot auto login as root
4) complete installing some things and

What is the proper place for GDM related dconf settings now?
Mr. Pearson,
Thanks for that, I do not have a RH support account. I will put in
the scripting to ensure the directory is there. I can confirm that
after putting it in there manually everything seems to work correctly.
That said, I guess I'm interested in the "design" choice and if there
isn't a more appropriate place to stick this type of config under the

gdm postsession scripts
Its seems that only the "Default" script in /etc/gdm/PostSession gets
processed. Is this the intended behaviour? This makes packaging harder.
Or can drop-in scripts/files be enabled?
Thanks for hints,

Loading GNOME with GDM
Hi,
We have a few PC with CentOS 4 installed.
By default, it runs to runlevel 5, which displays the GDM.
I'm just wondering, how do I actually make the GDM to start GNOME
automatically (after a successful login) for all normal user account
without having to add 'exec gnome-session' in every user's ~/.xinitrc?
The current scenario is, only successful 'root' logins starts

How to setup VNC for GDM access on 6.3
Hi all,
I'm looking for pointer for setting up VNC so that access to the system is via gdm/kdm. Yes, I know about vino, and /etc/sysconfig/vncservers but what I'm looking for is a sertup
that allows me to see the *dm login screen instead of being dropped direct into a desktop.
Thanks in advance

XDMCP - no GDM login, only gray screen with X
I'm having trouble getting the GDM login screen to show up when I
connect from a remote host. I'm using Xming on the local Windows
machine, but every time I connect to the remote server all I get is a
gray window with the X cursor. I have "Enable=true" in the [xdmcp]
section of /etc/gdm/custom.conf. IPtables is disabled. I've googled
around and read through the xdmcp page

gdm-simple-greeter, redux
Does *anyone* have a clue where gdm-simple-greeter stores the usernames it
presents? I know that it is not getting it out of /etc/passwd. based on
users who can log in, since I have several machines where one user, who's
rolled off, is still showing, even though /etc/passwd has him as having a
shell that doesn't exist.

problem with gdm
Hi folks,
I just used cvsup to upgrade my system to 4.8 stable. Now I have problem
with gdm. When I have logged in as other user, I will log in as root. That
happens when I automatically start gdm after booting. But if I start gdm
myself after boot, I won't have this problem. I don't know why. Does
somebody have the same problem before?
Thanks!

IMAP COPY creates invalid index data with zlib and mail_log plugins enabled but zlib_save off
I've noticed that maildir IMAP COPY commands can generate invalid
dovecot.index entries when all seven of the following are true:
- The zlib plugin is enabled;
- The zlib_save/zlib_save_level options are NOT enabled;
- The source message being copied is compressed;
- The mail_log plugin is logging "copy" events;
- The mail_log_fields setting includes at least one message header;

What is the proper place for GDM related dconf settings now?
Hello,
It seems that with CentOS 7.6 and Gnome 3.28, a clean install of a
Workstation package profile does not build the /etc/dconf/db/gdm.d/
directory tree. I have several desktops in operation which we
kickstart built with an older 7.3/4/5 version of CentOS as the base
install media. These all have a dconf directory for gdm, and I assume
a dconf profile directory for gdm as well (though I
