The problem I am having is with a Windows 2000 default domain setup an AD object is created: CN=Users,DC=Domain,DC=Com Generally all users created belong in this container. I am able to

OU vs. Default CN?
I am having a hard time getting any information from this list about the default OU's used when running the net ads join command. After mapping to the wrong OU in Active Directory for a Samba Domain Member Server (ou=wrong_container,dc=server,dc=com) I cannot change this back to the default (cn=users,dc=server,dc=com). Any help is appreciated and here is the result of net ads dn command:

AD4Unix & Samba-3.0.20b+winbind (UPDATE)
The nss_ldap has some performance problems and doesn't have any caching features that windbind does. What I was aways wondering is does IDMAP write UID/GID derived from SID to the extended schema in AD? Can winbindd use this extended schema, instead of using nss_ldap? -----Original Message----- From: samba-bounces+letz_samba=realmspace.com@lists.samba.org

Bad Password Count Problem -- LDAP connection failed
Dear Help, Initially, I thought that I had solved this problem, but it turns out that I haven't. I currently have Samba set up as a PDC with an eDirectory/LDAP backend. There are also a few Samba BDCs in play as well. If a user enters the correct password, there are no issues and everything authenticates fine. If I turn off the PDC and force a user to authenticate against a BDC with the

Log on problems since update from 2.2.12 to 3.0.10
Hi, I want to move from Samba 2.2.12 to 3.0.10. I downloade the 3.0.10 sources and compiled them (Solaris 8). Everything went fine. After the install, I tested the new 3.0.10 Samba with the old smb.conf from 2.2.12 (the docs say this should work). I could not log in anymore. I switched back to 2.2.12 and tried the 3.0.10 install on a Suse Linux 8.0 - with the same results. I used most parts from

Unable to login using 3.0.2a-SuSE as PDC and WinXP
Hello, I've got a strange problem here: I installed Samba 3.0.2a using the official rpms on a SuSE 9.0 machine. I configured samba in the smb.conf as a PDC and created user and machine accounts on the system as well as in the smbpasswd. Afterwards I was able to join the domain with my Windows XP client. After a reboot I am unable to log on to the Domain on my WinXP client. There's just the
