exponential model with decreasing
Hi everybody,
I try to do an exponential model with decreasing. In my data, there is no
data missing but there negative values. I adapted this following code whose
the origin code comes from in this forum:
Regress<-read.table("C:\\Users\\Regression.csv",sep=";",dec=",",header=TRUE)
Regress
f <- function(x,a,b) {a * exp(b * x)}
x<-Regress$EWT

Hi Guys,

follows:
Samba 3.0.22 on Debian Sarge 3.1 . I 've got SFU 3.5 installed on a W2K3
DC with SP1. I 'm using winbindd in "idmap proxy only" mode. Here 's my

X100P fails to initialize
So I took a chance with an X100P knock-off on eBay. I'm running Asterisk +
FreePBX on a PowerMac G3 (beige desktop) using Slackintosh 10.2 and kernel
2.6.16.16. Everything has been fine up until now.
I compile the 1.2.5 Zaptel drivers without a problem, get the udev
configuration in, modprobe zaptel, and finally modprobe wcfxo. At this
point, I get the message:

linking to R.dll on Win32 - issues with recent MinGW?
I encountered several strange issues when linking to R.dll on Windows
and I wonder if anyone of the Windows savvy-folks here had seen some of
the issues before and have some explanation.
My Rserve links to R dynamic library. That works perfectly on unix
boxes and worked fairly well with older MinGW and older R (<=1.7.1).
What I do in fact is that I specify
-L$(R_HOME)/bin -lR
when linking.

Script editor for Windows GUI
Dear R users / devs,
There's been requests in the past for a text editor built into the Rgui
for Windows, from which code can be submitted to the R console.
Something along the lines of the script editor in S-Plus. Currently
Rgui can only display a file read-only in a pager. As far as I can tell
there's been little motivation to implement an editor, as most
developers use (the

Authentication incompatibility?
I recently compiled Samba 3.0.23d on SuSE Linux 9.0 on an i386 computer.
The software appears to work but its not compatible with other SMB /
CIFS clients. If I use the newly compiled programs on two different
machines they can login and browse each others resources using the
'smbclient' program. If I try to use a windoze computer, the Linux
kernel (2.6.16.16 built on the same

Buffer Overflows in WindowMaker/LibPropList
Back in June when I was fooling around with some programs I was writing, I
found a serious buffer overflow in WindowMaker 0.60.0 and 0.52, but I assume
previous versions are vulnerable as well. By replacing argv[0] of a program
with a string longer than 249 characters, it is possible to overflow one of
the programs buffers, causing it, and possibly X as well to crash. It is
assumed this can

Response to R across the university
This email isn't asking for assistance, but I thought R-help readers
would find it interesting. This week we offered a half-day
introduction to R for researchers at Augsburg University. The
response was astonishing. Although Augsburg has no medical faculty
and no engineers, there was far too much demand, with interest from
every faculty (barring theology, "for one small

eventloop
Hello.
I'm writting a glx device and I've some performance problem with the
eventloop registration system. The device is not refresh when there's no
X event. That's problematic for animation and "smoothness" of display.
Should I use threads or fork the R process to get and independant
way to refresh my device ? Or do you know another way to refresh it ?
Thanks

Changing journaling mode on root / loop-aes
EXT3 developers:
I am curious, if EXT3 is currently being used on the root
partition in "data=ordered" mode (the default as I understand), and I
want to have the it come up in data=journal mode, how do you effectuate
this conversion? I would also be curious how to know if anything special
is required for doing so for the /boot partition as well. I believe that
with the /home partition,

Using interactive plots to get information about data points
I have been experimenting with interactive packages such iplots and playwith.
Consider the following sample dataset:
A B C D
1 5 5 9
3 2 8 4
1 7 3 0
7 2 2 6
Let's say I make a plot of variable A. I would like to be able to click on
a data point (e.g. 3) and have a pop-up window tell me the corresponding
value for variable D (e.g. 4). I am also trying to produce multiple

UNREACHABLE messages
I get these on a consistant basis for most of the providers I have
configured. Some less than others. I even get it from my phone at
home to my * box at our data center.
What I'm confused about is why it always shows the ping times at right
around 2000 ms. That just can't be right. It's always right at 2000
ms. Never less or more by more than 100 or so.

R-devel with Darwin: some issues (mostly due to latest R.framework changes)
Some issues with the recent R-devel (rsync today) on Darwin:
1) Recent R-devel is a bit misleading concerning the R-framework
installation:
A new option --enable-R-framework was introduced, but
install-Rframework ignores its absence (or --disable-R-framework for
that matter) and tries to install the framework anyway in / which fails
just after the R itself was copied into /Versions/.... I

R's DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH override problems on Mac OS X
In Mac OS X native version: The R shell wrapper (bin/R) overrides
default library search path with DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH and adds (among
others) /usr/X11R6/lib. This causes problems when modules need
(directly or indirectly) libraries from Apple's frameworks which are
masked by X11. Examples for such packages are SJava and RGL. SJava
needs JavaVM which in turn loads OpenGL framework. RGL

RAqua too hungry of cpu time
It seems that RAqua consumes too much cpu time when doing nothing.
I can't see exactly why this is happening. We have few days to fix this
up. Any idea (after having look at the code) would be fine.
