upgrade to 3.0.22, problem authenticating to AD
We upgraded our Centos 4.3 box's samba from 3.0.10 to 3.0.22 using sernet.de rpms. Prior to upgrading, we had this box authenticating to AD just fine, but now it is broken. Here is part of my log file that might show what is going on. multiple domain and winbind use default domain
Hello I'm preparing a new fileserver, based on jessie + sernet 4.2.10 packages. the server is bound to a forest, "AD" where users account are stored, and subdomains "PSI" for computers and some local accounts The Active directory forest is managed by 2008R2 servers, with rfc2307 attributs filled for accounts. I'm using "winbind use default domain" because

How to support idmap_rid on Fedora Core 3?
Hello, Please forgive me if this has been discussed, I did not find any references when I searched. I'm trying to replace a W2K server with a samba member server in a single ADS domain. It seems that the Fedora rpms do not support idmap_rid so I am trying to compile from the Fedora SRPM. After following the docs for building and configuring idmap_rid I get no ADS users from `getent

Do you know if it is possible to use the idmap_rid feature in Centos and Winbind/Samba (v. 3.0.10)? When I try to start it with idmap_rid enabled, I get this in my log... 3.0.21c: idmap_rid segfaults on AIX 5.3 ML4
Hi everyone, I'm trying to use idmap_rid on an AIX 5.3 ML4 machine. Samba compiled successfully using the IBM compiler (vac.C) version 6. The only programs I supplied where db and libiconv. I followed the instructions, and put nsswitch/WINBIND in /usr/lib/security, and edited /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg. When I start "winbindd -i", it coredumps with a Signal 11: (dbx) where

nsswitch not calling winbindd - suse 9.3 64 bit & Samba 3.0.14a
Hi - I have a problem that is driving me round the bend. I have installed Suse 9.3 (64-bit) and compiled Samba 3.0.14a from source. The server is going to be part of an ADS network so I have Kerberos working fine and I have joined the domain ('net ads testjoin' works fine). I have compiled and loaded the idmap_rid module and that seems to be working fine too. wbinfo -u gives me all the

arrow plots
Am doing some vector plots with the arrows() function. Works well. But what I need to do is supply an arrow for scaling for the reader. I need to plot an arrow of some known magnitude somewhere on the page (preferably outside the bounds of the plot, so that it can be seen clearly) with some text underneath it that says, for instance, "10 kg-m/sec". Any ideas? Thanks.

Samba as Domain Member Server Authentication Problem
I've been working for hours with Samba on Ubuntu Server 9.10 (Samba version 3.4.0), trying to get it setup simply as a fileserver that performs authentication to an NT 4 server (yes, I know, old and out of date). After much struggling, I finally realized that my configuration *was* working when the clients connecting (from XP, and Win2k clients, mostly) were actually joined to the domain

Wbinfo -Y couldn't work with idmap_rid for BUILTIN groups
Hi, wbinfo -Y BUILTIN\group can work without idmap_rid in Samba-3.0.14a. But I'm experiencing wbinfo -Y with idmap_rid failed for SID to GID conversion of BUILTIN groups. Since idmap_rid only works in a single domain, and captures workgroup's domain sid as a real domain sid in rid_idmap_get_domains(), when running "wbinfo -Y BUILTIN/System Operators", the function

FLAC seeking error
I am writing a FLAC encoder/decoder and when I use the flac_static.lib that was compiled in debug mode in MS Visual Studio 2003, the seek_absolute function works fine. However, if I compile flac_static in release mode in the same environment, the seek_absolute function no longer works. No parts of my code change, the only difference is whether I link in the release lib instead of the debug lib.

[PATCH] xl: make libxl_uuid2string internal to libxenlight
libxenlight exports a function libxl_uuid2string which is used internally in several places but has one external caller in xl. The function mainly implements policy so should not be part of the libxenlight API. The extent to which it can be considered mechanism it is not a xen mechanism since UUID''s are not a concept exlusive to xen. The one caller in xl seems to be an

UID/GID mapping consistency across at least two Linux machines
I have two SAMBA machines they both successfully joined to the same Active Directory (actually SAMBA 4) I have copied the user files from *server 1* to *server 2* /owner id/ and /group id/s are preserved. on server 1, when is do: *id user1* I get *2001* but on server 2 the same user has different id. This is actual for groups as well i.e different id's. *smb.conf*s are identical --
