samba-3.0.20rc1 winbind Windows 2003 SP1 ADS wbinfo all fine, but getent passsd or group does not work...
Hi, I've joined a Suse 9.1 Pro linux computer to a Windows 2003 SP1 ADS using: # kinit Administrator@DOMAIN # net ads join The computer account is created on the DC and wbinfo (-t -u -g) all work. Then I try getent passwd or getent group and nothing. This is with: #grep winbind /etc/nsswitch.conf passwd: compat winbind group: compat winbind # ps -ef | grep -E

Solaris 9 winbind/getent group issues
Hello everyone, I've got samba 3.0.10 compiled --with-pam and --with-winbind , have put libnss_winbind.so into /usr/lib and created the appropriate links, and have edited /etc/nsswitch.conf to have group and password point to files then winbind. I joined my domain successfully. I'm running on a Solaris 9 system with the 9_Recommended patch cluster installed. Relevant smb.conf lines:

winbind on Solaris 10
Hello, I'm trying to get a Samba to work on a Sun Solaris10 SPARC. The Samba has to be a Domain member in order to use the NT-Users and Groups. So I need winbind. The preinstalled Samba, winbind is not compiled in and the precompiled Samba on sunfreeware.com is nether delivered with the libnss_winbind.so. So I compiled my own one. I tried with 3.0.20a, 3.0.22 and 3.0.24. ./configure

getent passwd not returning users/groups
I'm trying to get my CentOS 5.6 machine setup as a Active Directory Domain Member with Windows 2008 level domain and samba 3.5. I haven't tried this before. I can successfully join the domain and return users using 'wbinfo -u' and groups with 'wbinfo -g' but when I try 'getent passwd' I only get the local users. I'm not sure what element that indicates is

samba-3.5.2 - "getent group" not returning any info
Hello there I just installed 3.5.2 and encountered the following. Compile worked all right but "getent group" would not give back any results, though "getent passwd" did list those AD users. The server runs as AD member and winbind seems to work normally. "wbinfo -u" and "wbinfo -g" return the desired info just "getent group" sucks. It works

winbind: wbinfo -g sees "domain users", getent group does not
I have configured winbind on a Linux file server, connecting to a Samba PDC. When I run wbinfo -g, I can see the group "domain users". On the other hand, when I run getent group, I do not see this group. Apart from a few other groups, all groups are visibile in both wbinfo -g and getent group. When running for the first time wbinfo -u, getent passwd and wbinfo -g, I got the results

getent passwd & getent group returning UID and GID using Winbind 4.1.x series samba
Just to make sure that I'm on the right path to get this working the way I would like. I have a linux file server that has used LDAP the user and group information in the past. I would like to migrate (recreate) the same users and groups in the samba4 AD DC, adding the UID and GID attributes. So that I don't have to change the UID and GID permissions on the file servers. The migration

getent group not listing domain groups / wbinfo -r not working
I know, I know, this again :) The company I work for would like to use squid for proxy authentication purposes using NTLM, using a Windows 2008 R2 server as a DC. I've managed to setup samba/winbind to use ads and successfully joined the domain. Configured nsswitch.conf to lookup winbind entities (however I didn't touch PAM configuration, as I don't actually want the users to be able

"getent group" shows AD groups; "getent passwd" only shows local users
I had winbind configured so that it could fetch users from AD. Everything was working properly, but something happened in the past couple of days (no change in the Samba config) I'm not able to diagnose. "getent group" enumerates groups, "getent passwd" doesn't. "wbinfo -g" returns groups, whereas I get this error when trying to get users: # wbinfo -u

winbind -u works, getent passwd dont't work
This is all correct and by design. Try : getent passwd username If you running this on a Samba AD DC. If you want to see if you pam setup is done, run : pam-auth-update But still you only see the users with : getent passwd username Greetz, Louis > -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- > Van: samba [mailto:samba-bounces at lists.samba.org] Namens basti via samba > Verzonden: maandag 30

winbind and getent again
Hi everyone, I'm trying to use winbind as nsswitch module on a domain member against a samba PDC, and it used to work fine with samba 3.4. But now after upgrading to 3.5.11, getent group/passwd don't show domain users/groups anymore. However wbinfo -g and wbinfo -u work as expected. Also: # wbinfo -i matare matare:*:50011:50000:Victor Matar?:/home/SGI/matare:/bin/false # wbinfo -U 50011

After Samba update getent returns just local users and groups
Yes, this is a bug somewhere, and my guess is its related to the precompiles debian/ubuntu packages. Try getent passwd username id username wbinfo -g do these work?
