samba 3.0.22 possible bug - sid for bdc
Hello Lads, Problem could be smbldap-tools, im using 0.97. I have manually set the sid on the bdc which seems to work. I am confused because I thought net rpc getsid stored the sid from the pdc on the bdc in secrets. I wasn't aware that net getlocalsid should return identical results on both pdc & bdc. Please explain this - why isnt the BDC obtaining the sid automatic as it should

Local vs Domain sid using net commands
I am curious. I have joined my 3.0.6 samba server to my NT4 domain. However, when I do a net groupmap list, I notice that the SID of the Samba Domain accounts (i.e. Domain Admins, Domain Guests, Domain Users) is not the same as the sid of the domain that it is joined to, when doing a net rpc getsid. Why is this? Does this mean that the Domain accounts in Samba are not really associated with the

Creation of Domain- and PDC-SID in samba
John, I finally decided to go for it and kick off our NT-PDC (UB-SERVER). I want to transfer our domain (UB) to Samba 3.0.1 with OpenLDAP (2.1.23-1) as backend on Debian Woody (this machine's netbios-name in my test environment is UB-KIOSK). I read all documentation I could get a hold on and followed these procedures you suggested, but I am stuck... > * From: John H Terpstra >

[Old] Clients cannot login into Samba-Domain
I had a working "Samba-2.2.7a-SuSE" domain (with roaming profiles, etc.) but this server crashed. So I copied the samba directory with the config files (including secrets.tdb, passwd, ...) from my backup to the second server and started nmb and smb, but the Clients could'nt log onto the domain. The error was something like: "You couldn't log on. Please check username and

Transferring PDC responsibility without LDAP
I'm using a NT4-style domain on my home network, with Samba 3.5.3 acting as PDC. I would like to transfer PDC responsibilty to a different GNU/Linux machine so I can retire the original PDC. With Windows DCs, I understand this is simple -- just create a BDC, promote it, and remove the old. However, an analogous approach would be problematic here, because in Samba going from one DC to two is

Clang executable sizes and build stats
Hi all, I recently did a run where I built clang executables on FreeBSD 12-CURRENT [1], from trunk r250000 (2015-10-11) all through r327700 (2018-03-16), with increments of 100 revisions. This is mainly meant as an archive, for easily doing bisections, but there are also some interesting statistics. From r250000 through r327700: * the total (stripped) executable size grew by approximately 43% *

[cfe-dev] Clang executable sizes and build stats
Thanks for raising this. This is something we've recently been looking at too at Sony, as over the course of PS4's lifetime so far we've seen our clang executable on Windows approximately double in size, which isn't ideal for things like distributed build systems. A graph of clang.exe size on our internal staging branch matches yours closely with it being more of a death by a

Samba 3 Beta3 using LDAP and NT4 Migrate
Hi, I am trying a test of migrating a NT4 Domain to Samba 3 Beta 3 configured to use LDAP on Redhat 8. Is this possible? Details ------- I previously had Beta 2 on LDAP running as it's own domain controller without problem and could create users (in LDAP) with smbpasswd -a. XP clients could join and login OK. Now I have flushed that setup and have loaded Beta 3 configured to use LDAP,

I just knocked ~400k off the size of the x86 scheduler tables by reducing from 5k+ entries to 2k+ entries per cpu. ~Craig On Tue, Mar 20, 2018 at 6:34 PM, Andrew Trick <atrick at apple.com> wrote: > > > On Mar 17, 2018, at 4:04 PM, Craig Topper via cfe-dev < > cfe-dev at lists.llvm.org> wrote: > > I'm sure the x86 scheduler models are causing bloat. roaming profile trouble
Maybe this is not the right place but i'm still having trouble with synchronisation. Samba 3.0.14 as pdc. I used gpedit.msc to tell the computer not to sync Documents ( i used the italian name Documenti, since my windowsxp is in italian ) on login/logout. I mapped documents using regedit on drive z: (i.e. the roaming profile on the samba server), but when i logout i have been still seeing

roaming profile
Yes, it was maybe a sync trouble. But after some trying i realized it was not a good way for two reasons: At the end windows xp tried to sync the folders loosing as much time as with the usual roaming profile; Disabling the sync i used to loose something anyway. So now i'm looking up a new solution: activated the 'use only local profile' in the gpedit.msc config tool, so the client

I'm sure the x86 scheduler models are causing bloat. Every time a single instruction appears on a line by itself like this in a scheduler model: def: InstRW<[SBWriteResGroup2], (instregex "ANDNPDrr")>; It causes that instruction to be its own group in the generated output. And its replicated for each CPU. We should look into better using regular expressions or taking

Trouble Building RPMS v3.6.16
Hi, My system: OS: Centos 6.4? Samba: 3.6.16 I'm trying to build the RPMS from the packaging/RHEL directory.? After I patched the samba.spec file the build is successful.? All packages install without an issue. But when I try to install the SSSD, its dependencies get errors that it conflicts with libtalloc, libtdb and libtevent. from the samba-common. If I try to use the external

Replication oddities - different sizes between replicated nodes
Dear Dovecot community, As discussing on IRC with Aki, I have the following thing happening: I got an alert from my mailservice last night that I was running over quota. My quota reached almost 91% (coming from 30%) in one day. I do not recall receiving so much email (we talk about multiple gb?s additional space usage), so something was acting up. When I logged into my mailservers (I?ll
