Winbind on AIX 5.2
Has anyone had luck getting Winbind from Samba 3.0.11 to compile and
authenticate users telnetting (or ssh'ing) into an AIX lpar? If so,
what'd you do? :)
I've compiled kerberos and openldap, both installed. Able to run the
configure script for Samba, pointing LDFLAGS and related to the correct
location for the openldap libraries. I've been unable to get Samba

You know, that might be a very good ideea -- e.g. have a security team and
list for ports as we have one for the base distribution.

[PATCH] Clean up failed login logging.
Hi All.
As noted in a previous post, the logging of failed user logins is
somewhat spread out. This patch creates a record_failed_login()
function in sshlogin.c and moves the AIX and UNICOS code to it,
eliminating 3 #ifdefs from the main code. It also provides an obvious
place to add the code for any other platforms that support this.
I've tested this on AIX 4.3.3. Wendy Palm was kind

a question about spatial autocorrelation in R
Dear all,
I am currently facing a problem related to the spatial autocorrelation of
a sample of stations; these stations supply weekly data for a fixed
time-window during the year (namely, 4-6 months per year).
For this reason I'm trying to use the R package 'spdep' (specifically
Moran's I) in order to get rid of it.
Does anyone know how is it possible (if it is...) to

Adding labels on maps (using sp, maptools, or something else suggested)
Hello,
I would like to place region names (or abbreviations if space is too
limited) on a map. I have tried the following, copying and adapting
various examples I have seen but without success. The first example
is self-contained, but the second one requires the .shp file, which
can retrieved at http://www.gadm.org/country.

libvirt call qemu to create vm need more than 10 seconds
Hi all:
It takes more than 10 seconds to create a vm on a Dell R830 machine, but it takes less than 2 seconds on other machines. This is not normal, so I turned on the debug log for libvirtd. I analyzed the log and found that the time was spent on libvirtd calling qemu. Thread 95225 calls the qemuProcessLaunch interface at 14:22:30.129 and then builds the emulator command line, but the

echotraining=yes in misdn.conf is invalid or out of range.
Hi.
I'm having problems with chan_mISDN configuration. Line
"echotraining=yes" causes warning, when Asterisk is parsing misdn.conf
and I'm confused why the PBX doesn't accept the setting. No matter
which section I try to offer it, it is always invalid or out of range.
The setting itself is supposed to be valid, it is in the sample
configuration file of chan_mISDN 0.3.1.

Redirecting Calls
Hello All.
I am stumped, please help me out..
I have the following setup:
VOIP provider = VOIP GW (asterisk GW1) = VOIP server (asterisk - VS1)
The gateway is there to get around the limitations running on the VOIP
server.
I can call out from and receive calls VS1 no problems at all. However,
when I try
and redirect an inbound call out via the GW, it drops out.
I have found that if I

ANOVA and Levene's test in nested model
Dear All,
I sent already before a message concerning Levene's test in nested model,
but I didn't get any answer. Optimistically I hope to get an answer this
time. I also point a new question related to the whole model, because I
haven't find any sure answer if I am analysing it in a suitable way or
not. I really have tried to do my homework.
I have response variable (y) and four

Details related to Levene's test
Dear All,
I am willing to test homogenity of variances using Levene's test. I know
how to do it with simple model, but I am lost when dealing with a
little bit more complex model.
I have response variable (y) and four factors (a, b, c, d). One of
these four factors (d) is nested within another factor (c). In addition,
I would like to take into account only 2nd degree interactions in my

Hi,
is there a possibility using the step() function together with a glm()
model, to force keeping some of the covariates in the model ?? and not
having them dropped ??
Thanks,

Slow Samba share--why?
I trying to figure out why copying from a Samba drive to Windows XP is
slower than an FTP transfer beween the same two machines. To copy the 110
MB file from Samba takes 400 seconds, and to transfer the same file by FTP
takes 41 seconds.
From using ethereal, and comparing a fast smb copy to a slow smb copy, I
can see that the slow copy has a _lot_ more tcp traffic for a SMB single
