Help with NFSV4 server
Hi Everyone, I have been trying to setup an NFS v4 File Server but have come across an odd issue. Mounting the /nfs4exports/share appears to be successful and the information displayed about partition size and free space seem correct but if I try to do anything inside the mounted directory the client will just hang. Does anyone have any idea what I am missing?? I have try disabling all

Why portmap is needed for NFSv4 in CentOS6
Hi all, I have setup a CentOS6.3 x86_64 host to act as a nfs server. According to RHEL6 docs, portmap is not needed when you use NFSv4, but in my host I need to start rpcbind service to make NFSv4 works. My /etc/sysconfig/nfs # # Define which protocol versions mountd # will advertise. The values are "no" or "yes" # with yes being the default MOUNTD_NFS_V2="no"

Kerberos + NFSv4 difficulties
Hey All, I recently have been trying to setup an NFSv4 share that utilizes Kerberos. My experience in general with NFS is very slim however I feel like I am very close to getting this project completed. Currently I have the following things in place: 1) NFS server nfs.example.net (VM#2) - Running CentOS 5.4 with all of the latest updates and NFS-related packages 2) Kerberos KDC running on

Again NFSv4 and Kerberos at the 'samba way'...
Hai Marco, Hmm, yes, that is strange. This did work. Im checked some things, but im still not sure share this is going wrong. nfs-config.service is called for server and client nfs. That one usese /lib/systemd/system/nfs-config.service ExecStart=/usr/lib/systemd/scripts/nfs-utils_env.sh And the script executes. nfs_config=/etc/sysconfig/nfs << does not exist. mkdir -p

NFSv4 on CentOS 5.5
Hi, What is the magic juju that I have to put in /etc/sysconfig/autofs to get autofs to default to using NFSv4, rather than NFSv3, for mounting file systems? I don't want to place these flags into the automount maps themselves because we have a varied network with Sun, CentOS, RedHat and Macintosh systems, and the flags that have to get added to automount maps (which we distribute centrally

Netinstall & NFS using local server.
Dear CentOS community, I have install centos via CD, DVD and Directly off the net via http and FTP. Now I want to do a NFS install from a local server and a client. Both, client and server are in the same vlan 10.14.10.0/255.255.255.0. The server has a static 10.14.10.15 address and the client gets its own address via DHCP. I download the DVD image from one of the mirrors and placed it under

Samba and kerberized NFSv4
Hi Marcel thx. for your fast response. I didn't manage to follow up sooner. I had already verbose logging turned on but I don't seem to find the real reason, why the domain controller searchs for a userPrincipalName instead of servicePrincipalName. Because I wasn't sure whether it is the nfs client process or the server process that failed to get the kerberos ticket when I tried the

Samba and kerberized NFSv4
Hi Folks I'm trying to share user home directories hosted on a Samba-4 member server via NFSv4. Everything's working well with the Windows shares but when it comes to kerberized NFSv4 it fails. I can't even mount the home root directory via nfs on the server itself ("mount.nfsv4: access denied by server while mounting ..."). As far as I have tracked it down, it appears to

nfs4 and idmapd
I'm using CentOS5.9 and mounting a remote directory via NFSv4. The nfs server is OpenIndiana 151.a.7 (i.e. Solaris). Users bin and daemon have each others ID on the oposite system. On OpenIndiana: User: bin; ID=2 User: daemon; ID=1 On CentOS: User: bin; ID=1 User: daemon; ID=2 That means if I create a file as daemon on the client (CentOS), it gets saved on the server as owner bin

Re-export an NFS mount from another machine for roaming profiles
Hi, In my office I have a server running CentOS 5.5. I have Apache+PHP+MySQL running on that server, and I'm exporting /var/www/html, so I can mount it on my main desktop with NFS. Server : grossebertha Desktop : babasse [root at babasse:~] # mount /dev/sda3 on / type ext4 (rw) proc on /proc type proc (rw) sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw) devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,gid=5,mode=620)

disk space issues...any help is greatly appreciated
Hi all, Please pardon my newbie-ness on this issue....I've a / partition which is full (quite suddenly, actually) and I'm not sure how to fix this. I've searched for uneeded logs, etc in /var/log and /tmp to no avail. The system is CentOS 5.2 and is not connected to the internet, serves as a local LAN server running stock stuff...sendmail, dovecot, apache..nothing strange or

Curious fdisk report on large disk
I have a 1.5TB internal disk on my server. I partitioned this with fdisk, and CentOS-5.6 runs perfectly on it. But fdisk gives a very strange report. Here is the perfectly normal response to mount: ----------------------------- /dev/sdb10 on / type ext3 (rw) proc on /proc type proc (rw) sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw) devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,gid=5,mode=620) /dev/sdb2 on /boot type ext3

disk partitioning - I'm missing something simple, I think
Hi all, Excuse the question as I'm sure those more experienced will find it simple. I've a CentOS5.1 box with six physical drives, two of which are used for nightly rsync backups. Contents of /etc/mtab, /etc/fstab, df and a brief narrative follow: ====================================================== # cat ./fstab /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 / ext3 defaults
