Bad Password
Everyone,
I am going nuts trying to figure this problem out. I have
successfully joined a SUSE 10 server to our domain and configured samba
for ADS authentication. This exact setup works on all my other servers.
On this one, I keep getting access denied when entering my domain
password despite the fact that I have tried it literally dozens of
times. I am 100% confident I am

Excessive traffic causing slow logons
I am seeing some extremely slow logons to my SUSE servers. All are
configured exactly the same. When I attempt to log on, I can enter my
domain (AD) account without any problems. I then enter my password and
sit and wait for several minutes until it eventually takes me to my
desktop. In attempting to debug the problem, we have been able to see
millions of calls to the domain controller. They

Can anyone shed some light on this error? I can't seem to find any

Authenticating another domain
When I attempt to authenticate a user from another domain, I am seeing
some strange issues. My winbindd.log shows that I am indeed already
trusting the other domain. (I am a member of the na.uis.unisys.com
domain.) However, when I try to gain access to a share where the
username EU\INBLR-AUTH1 has access, I get prompted for a username and

Problem with Universal Groups
Everyone,
With many thank to Jerry, my cross domain authentication is now
working. This leads to a new problem. I cannot get samba to
authenticate a remote domain user in a Universal group to authenticate
properly.
Here are the details:

Trouble with Homes
I am having trouble with getting my Homes section to work properly.
When I browse to the server from a Windows client, I can see my home
directory. However, when I try to access it, it challenges me for a
userID and password. No matter what I enter, I will not allow me
access. Can someone point me in the right direction to solve this?

Winbind problem with more details.
Everyone,
One of our developers was kind enough to insert some bug checking into the mod_auth_pam and mod_auth_sys_group so that we could see a little more of what was going on with our authentication failures. Here is what we just saw. Two of our users NA\connelmp and NA\guminssa both started getting messages that they were not part of the required group. Here is the log for

Problem with winbind not seeing a user as part of a group
Everyone,
Here is a challenge for all of you samba experts! Lately I have been seeing a problem where winbind is not correctly identifying a user as a member of a group he most certainly belong to. This is with a Domain Local group so I know samba should support it.
Users access a HTTPS (SSL) webpage that is secured by a Domain Local group. Sometimes they get in,

Samba and ufw
Louis,
Followed your instructions so far. Take a look at the output of the
various steps. I'm down to removing items form /etc/ufw. I'm not sure
what I should delete. I know some of the files are backups generated
after some rules were deleted. Please tell me what is safe to delete
before I procede further.

Mongrel+Mint
Hi,
I''m attempting to migrate an app from Apache+FCGI to Apache+Mongrel. I''m using Apache 2.0 with the latest Mongrel release. I''m having an issue with the Mint stats package and Mongrel not picking up the following url: /mint/?js
Basically inside the /mint folder there is an index.php, so the url /mint/?js should really be going to /mint/index.php?js
When I had my

Possible solution to R installation problems for Linux Mint 19 users
Hello!
After posting this a version of this on r-help, Bert Gunter kindly
suggested I should also post it here. Apologies for any cross-posting which
may occur. My thanks to Jeff Newmiller and Marc Schwartz for setting me
straight on one or two matters.
If you're a newly-minted (pun _fully_ intended) user of Linux Mint 19
("Tara") and you find you're having issues installing R

Mongrel & Mint (PHP related)
Hi, Does anyone have the Mint stats package setup with their Rails
application. I have uploaded Mint to the public folder, but when I try
and request domain.com/mint/index.php the page is served as a download
instead of being processed by mod_php. Im guessing this isn''t really a
Mongrel problem but what I actually need to do is prevent Apache
proxying certain requests to Mongrel.

[LLVMdev] A better CMake
I've been using CMake on my LLVM project for several years now (ever since
I abandoned using SCons, and before that, autoconf). During that time I've
grown to both love and hate CMake - that is, I love the idea, but hate the
language and its limitations.
However, due to the recent thread on this list, I realized that I wasn't
the only person that felt that way - that there were a lot
