command line limit under unix?
Dear all,
I have made my testing program to run successfully under unix in the
background. However, my simulation work does not work. I read the
foo.results file, I found it only have part of my code and not any output I
want. Is there any line limit? My code is nearly 400 line. I can cut some of
them, but I want to know whether there is any limit or exactly the number of
limit is. Thanks.

run R under linux
Dear all,
Our department uses the linux system and we are not allowed to submit job
directly. We must make a batch to submit through "qmon".
so, I make a foo.sh file, which only contains one line: nohup R --vanilla <
foo.txt > foo.results
foo is all my codes. It is a simulation of 200 times. I set the seed at the
beginning. It is to estimate the success probability, which is

sapply and loop
Dear all,
I am doing 200 times simulation. For each time, I generate a matrix and
define some function on this matrix to get a 6 dimension vector as my
results.
As the loop should be slow, I generate 200 matrice first, and save them into
a list named ma,
then I define zz<-sapply(ma, myfunction)
To my surprise, It almost costs me the same time to get my results if I
directly use a loop

Question on Rprof(); was: Re: sapply and loop
Yes. It should have something to do with read/write permissions, but it is
not clear how it happens.
I can write file to C drive using R. I usually write my results matrix to a
txt file in C drive.
For Rprof(), the boot.out file can be created, but only with one line
sample.interval=20000
The situation is the same even if I specify the directory to the D
drive,where I have the full

iterative proportional fitting
Dear all,
I wonder if there are some function or package in R which can do the
iterative proportional fitting.
In the exponential model
f(y1,...yn)=exp(a'yi+b'(yi*yj)+.....+c'(y1*...*yn)+constance),
instead of the canonical parameters, I use maginal probability instead of a
and log odds ratio instead of b. and for the order higher than 3, I use the
canonical way or even assume

mp3 queue problem
Hi!
I'm using Icecast to stream ogg and mp3 audio streams.
Usually i cast 4-5 ogg streams at time but yesterday i added 3 mp3
streams to my server.
After several hours the mp3 (and only mp3) ones stop to work with no
apparent reason.
The only strange thing i could observe is that the recv-Q showed in
netstat is full of data that can't be handled by icecast
and the quantity of data

"core" installs of 5.2 missing crucial packages like yum, selinux-policy-targeted, vim-minimal, etc.
I had a 5.0 kickstart server which did "core" installs of
CentOS (i.e.: "%packages --nobase").
I recently setup a 5.2 kickstart server. Using the same
kickstart configs, I notice a few packages are always
missing, notably: yum (!!), selinux-policy-targeted (even
though I have "selinux --enforcing" in the kickstart, it
always ends up with that package missing and

How to catch EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION exceptions on win64
LLVM3.8 version.
https://bugs.llvm.org//show_bug.cgi?id=24233. The example can catch exception. But I use my own code for testing, CustomEHMemoryManager allocated memory address is very large, allocateCodeSection, allocateDataSection assigned address (more than 32 bit address space) is getting smaller and smaller. Cause registerEHFrames to fail.
3.9.1 or 4.0.0 version has been supported on win

what's the R code for wavelet decomposition (Haar transformation)?
Dear all,
Using R function "dwt", it seems that I cannot specify the wavelet
transformation like Haar. What's the R code for wavelet decomposition
which allows me to specify Haar wavelet transformation? Of course, if it
can include "db2", that is even better. In general, I want an R function
like matlab code "dwt". Thanks in advance!

How to catch EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION exceptions on win64
For help:
Llvm generated instruction calls a function (extern), the function will have a SEH exception (EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION), But JIT can not capture the exception of the EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION. I saw Bug 24233. EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION exception cannot be captured after modification.

sort the values of members and obtain their ranks within groups
Dear all,
I would like to sort the values of "member" for each group, and obtain a
variable to indicate its rank within the group.
For example, we have original dataset as follows:
df <- data.frame(group = c(rep(1, 3), rep(5, 3)),
member = c(30, 10, 22, 21, 44, 15))
group member
1 1 30
2 1 10
3 1 22
4 5 21
5 5 44

How to use the pass 'Unroll and Jam'
Dear LLVM developers,
Recently I want to try the pass '-loop-unroll-and-jam' to observe how the
IR is transformed, but I don't see the IR changed after doing the following
steps.
Here are the details for preparing my experiment and I have tried the LLVM
6, 7 and 8:
1) Simple 2D array source code (loop.c) is given

[LLVMdev] why we assume malloc() always returns a non-null pointer in instruction combing?
Hi David and Mats,
Thanks for your explanation. If my understanding is correct, it means we
don't need to consider the side-effect of malloc/free unless compiling with
-ffreestanding. Because without -ffreestanding, user defined malloc/free
should be compatible with std library. It makes sense to me.
My point is, in std library, malloc is allowed to return null if this
malloc failed. Why

help for the first poster- a simple question
Hi, there,
I cannot get accurate value for calculation.
for example:
ld<-sqrt(1*0.05*0.95*0.05*0.95)
0.05*0.95-ld=-6.938894e-18
0.05*0.95-ld==0 is False.
I met this problem in my program, how can I handle it. Thanks.

[LLVMdev] Should we enable Partial unrolling and Runtime unrolling on AArch64?
Hi all,
Partial unrolling and runtime unrolling are enabled by default in aarch64
gcc which is help to get performance better. But these two methods are
enabled for only several backends in LLVM which are X86, PowerPC and R600.
I don't know the history of these two kinds of unrolling, and why they are
not widely used. I also want to know is, for aarch64 backend, is
it intentionally to get
