how to do a simple update on the server from a change of a select box?
I have a list of items on a page. Each item has a select list. If
someone changes the select list I would like to update the appropriate
record on the server....nothing else. I suspect I am making this too
difficult.
I have an action on my controller for updating this value. I just
tried the ''remote_function'', ah, function. It invokes the action on
the controller but the the

Persistant Z drive in XP
Hello. New to SAMBA.(2.2.8 on RH9) Mixed environment of 98 & (trying)
XP. My "net use s: /home" command works wonderfully for XP and 98. But
XP throws in an "extra" "more home-than-home" directory - namely
\username\.win_profile on the Z drive. I've tried disconnecting it with:
net use Z: /delete, but XP claims to have a process running on it (even

XP SP2 connecting to 3.0.10-1.4E
I have been running our companies XP Pro systems on our Samba domain
controller (version: 3.0.10-1.4E) with local administrative rights up to
this point. Everything has worked fine.
We are getting larger now and I'd like to make the logins locally
restricted (I want them to have XP's "Users" rights and "Remote Desktop
Users" only). When I restrict the accounts

I must have a misunderstanding of partials, maybe one of you can help me
out. I have a page that initially displayed via the following:

Can't join my domain
Day 2 of my adventure into Samba. Having had such success with
workgroup-based Samba, it was time to try Samba as a PDC. Unfortunately,
it got cut short very quickly because I am not able to log into the domain
from the XP client.
I took the following steps (I'm using Samba 3.0):
- modified my smb.conf as per instructions in O'Reilly Using Samba, 2nd

Installing windows drivers into print$ on OS X 10.5 Leopard
Has anyone had any success installing windows printer drivers onto a
leopard-hosted print$ share?
If I use the Add Printer Wizard method, if copies the driver files to \
\SERVER\print$\W32X86 then fails with an "Operation cannot be
completed."
If I use the rpcclient method I get a WERR_INVALID_PARAM error. Using
the Adobe Generic PostScript driver as an example.

how can I be a domain admin in 3.0RC3 ?
Hi !
I'm using samba-3.0RC3 as a PDC (for testing).
I'm using the ldap backend.
I created 1 user, 1 computer and some groups.
I mapped the unix groups domainadmins to "Domain admins" with
my_personnal_sid-512.
I added my user to domainadmins.
I set "admin users = @domainadmins" in my smb.conf, but I still do not
have domain admin rights on workstations :(
Any idea

domain admin
Hi !
I'm desperately looking for an answer here...
I've been fighting all week-end with samba-3.0 and there's still
something I can't do...
Basically: how can I add some of my users to the Domain admin group ?
I use FreeBSD-5.1+samba3.0RC3.
My group maps:
Admins du domaine (S-1-5-21-xxxx-512) -> domainadmins
Utilisa. du domaine (S-1-5-21-xxxx-513) -> domainusers

Swat, winbind, authentication, @DomainAdmins
Hi all,
I have rather a perplexing question...
I'm just setting up a new linux (Redhat 7.2) samba server with
authentication using winbind and pam. Everything seems to be working well on
the authentication side except in Swat.
If I go to the machine ( http://machinename:901 <http://machinename:901> )
it pops up the authentication dialog which is obviously authenticating

smbcacls cannot locate the object of a samba share
Hello
smbcacls is not able to locate the object of a share.
I've attached a copy of the smb.conf file and the debug output of the
smbcacls command.
Within XP/NT I'm able to get and set the acls with no problem.
Thanks

Komal

Windows 10 and Samba 4.1.17-debian (NT Domain)
OK, then here's the weird part. I have another server, hosting other files,
lets my Windows 10 system connect. The main server won't though. They are
both running Debian Jessie 8.3, and Samba 4.1.17-debian. Below is the
/etc/samba/smb.conf file *that works with Windows 7 and 10*:

samba 3 as PDC
Hi,
I'm configuring samba as PDC for my network, but I'm having a few problems:
1) roaming profiles are not working, even if I've made up symbolic links in
the directories, such as (for user luca):
sede:/home/samba-ntprof/luca # ls -l

adding machines to the domain with Samba 3.0.0
Is there something special I need to do to let root add computers to the domain in 3.0?
When I try to add the workstation I get an error about 'user not found' even though I can
logon to a workstation joined to the domain as 'root'. I was able to add computers to the
domain with 2.2.8 with an 'add user command' entry and 'domain admin group = root' in my

Windows 10 and Samba 4.1.17-debian (NT Domain)
Hi all,
After some config changes and reboots, I got the Samba server running
properly for my client computers running Windows 7. My issue now is with
Windows 10.
I see threads relating to setting "max protocol = NT1", but this seems to
break the Windows 7 clients (which are finally working again). Below is my
smb.conf file (which works for Windows 7):
