Time synchronization issue (solved)
Ok, good it works now..
?
Yes, clients should be synced with the DC..
i can only think of?3 reasons why it didnt work or stopped working.
?
1)?If the pc time gets out of sync (+5min) ?for some reason, then the client wil try 8 more times and then it marks the source as unusable..
??? ( if a pc is never rebooted, this can happen also?)
?
2) u used w32time to set time, and if you run than from

Wintertime/summertime difference - Samba servers show wrong time ?
When the Central European Time was last switched back to standard,
at 03:00 last Sunday, the October 30th, a process died on one of my
Windows clients with a mysterious "unknown error". When it was
restarted it just went merrily on with its task. Luckily it wasn't
part of a life support system.
I found out that the immediate cause was how file timestamps were
interpreted/presented

Mishandling read only files in 3.0.20b vs 3.0.21c
I noticed a few days ago running Samba 3.0.20b on Linux that if I had a
file called "myfile" that was owned by "userA:groupX", writable by
userA but read only for groupX
0744 userA:groupX myfile
and that file was in a directory "/directory2/myfile" which was writable
by the group "groupX"

comparing segments of a time series
Hi,
I have a time series of 38 wintertime average snow depths
measured at a particular meteorological station. The data appear to
undergo a "climate shift" in the early 1980s: before the shift the
mean and sd are 152 +/- 58, after the shift 92 +/- 36. The
distribution is not normal; there's a hard limit at zero of course and
there are outlier years with very high snowfall. I

I am trying to extract only the winters (defined to be 01-Dec through
28-Feb) of daily data from 1948-2002. There are 90 days in each winter
season. I wrote the following code to gather the winter dates into a
single vector:
DJF <- NULL
for(year in 1949:1999) {
temp.begin <- strptime(paste("01/12", year-1, sep="/"), "%d/%m/%Y")

timezones - any practical solution?
Hello all,
Could someone help me with the time zones in understandable & practical way?
I got completely stucked with this.
Have googled for a while and read the manuals, but without solutions...

all time variables, depending on date (summer or winter) get (un-asked for

Timezone confusion: net time \\server ...
Hi list,
I am a bit confused how the time sync between samba and windows should
be done correctly.
On the samba server I have set the CMOS time to GMT (UTC) and my
timezone is UTC+2 (germany). On windows the CMOS time is set to my
timezone (windows can't handle UTC, did that change? XP here, but
dualboot to linux) and as I issue net time \\server /set /YES it sets
the time but minus one

Hi Irucka,
No problem.
I guess this could be done using:

NetBios name resolution from WINDOWS
Hi,
I've been following a similar and current thread about name resolution
from LINUX side.
I have exactly the opposite problem (running ubuntu 7.10 on a network
with a mixture ubuntu 6.06, WinXP and WinVista boxes)
The winboxes cannot see or mount this 7.10 box
I can mount WinPC shares on this 7.10 box.
I was wondering about firewalls, but I can ping this 7.10 from the
WinBox by IP address
