Unable to add computer to domain
Dear Expert, Pls help, I am in the progress implementing Samba as LDAP as PDC on FC5, I followed the instruction of "samba3-ldap-howto", now I am unable to add computer to domain.. Tried to check /var/log/samba and found the following: [2006/07/18 14:55:44, 0] rpc_server/srv_samr_nt.c:_samr_create_user(2404) _samr_create_user: Running the command `/usr/sbin/smbldap-useradd -w

add machine script problem
I am having trouble getting samba to execute the add machine script properly. It seems to be executing this script as a non-root user. I am running trustix with the 2.4.30 kernel. Samba is version 3.0.14a. Here is the output from testparm: Load smb config files from /etc/samba/smb.conf Processing section "[homes]" Processing section "[netlogon]" Processing section

Enter or quit a samba's domain in pdc
Hello I configured my domain under samba pdc. with bind and dhcpd for the network, and samba for the sharing. Having correctly configured the global (I think, because in workgroup it works very good, and testparm finds me no error), I obtain following both problems: 1. Refusal to join the domain. I modified well the key in my Windows, I was kind enough to change domain. That recognized it

add machine script almost succeeds
All - I am in the process of writing my own "add machine script" to use with Samba 3.0.20a and our OpenLDAP setup. For the most part it seems to work fine. If I run the script from the command line, I can see that the entry has been added to LDAP. If I then go to the Windows machine and tell it to join the domain, after giving it the Admin login and password it connects up with no

I have created a file in my home directory mapped to my documents. I can change rwx permission on linux and windows and it works perfectly. but this file has as a group my default group. this file should be read by users from accounting and managers

smbldap-tools problem with Samba 3.0.1/LDAP 2.1.22/Fedora Core 1
I'm trying to setup a samba PDC/BDC with disconnected auth. and am stuck at step one because I can't get smbldap-tools to work right. First when I do a smbldap-useradd.pl -a test, it works fine. ldapsearch shows the entry properly. Then I try smbldap-usershow.pl or smbldap-userdel.pl or any other one for that matter and they all fail with a "user test does not exist"! Also if I

Users can read/write to other user's directories
Hi, I am setting up Samba on my CentOS server and have Samba version 3.0.28-1.el5_2.1. I started configuring the smb.conf file and then went on to use webmin to configure it. I have made sure I have restarted Samba after making changes. When I connect from my Windows PC to the Samba server, I can read and write to other Samba user's directories. Here is an ls from my CentOS server:

With these to computers I want to be able to share files in-between the two of us. With samba I can see my XP computer with no problems. I just have to type in a user name and password. Fedora Core 3 and Samba
Over the last week I've upgraded one of my samba servers to FC3. I ran into some problems joining XP machines to the domain. Tracing back the problem I've found that FC3 has changed the behavior of the useradd/adduser script. It will no longer allow a UNIX account to be added to the system that has a '$' in it. I've verified this behavior by trying it at the command line,
