Mount CiFS as root on Linux
Could it be possible nowadays (understand: with the newest kernels and tools) to mount the root filesystem of a Linux client over CiFS? Just like what is already possible for a long time with NFS. The server would be Samba, not Windows. Just wondering... -- J?r?me Warnier FLOSS Consultant http://beeznest.net

RE: Samba - cups rights problem
Hi, wel, i didn't solve it, i just let my users print multiple times and if they want lots of prints, i print it for them. What you can do, ( i didn't ) is add the Domain users to the printer operators But if 1 users change the printer settings it goes to all users. > I also have people unable to delete each other's jobs while they are >allowed in CUPS. this is correct

Samba as PDC for WinXP, Win9
Simon, What version of Windows XP are you using? If your client has purchased computers from Best Buy or a similar electronics "mega-store" they likely received WinXP Home Edition. (Which is what it sounds like based upon the use of Win9x machines you mentioned.) If that is the case, then you will be unable to get the WinXP machines to see the Samba Server (or a Windows

IPIP Tunnel
Hi guys, I''m trying to setup an IPIP tunnel between a Cisco router and a firewall running Debian GNU/Linux Sarge with Shorewall 2.0.13. I''ve read and implemented the http://shorewall.net/IPIP.htm document, but I don''t understand why there should be at the same time a "tunnel" and a "tunnels" script. Shorewall still refuses to let the

PHP bindings Debian/Ubuntu packaging wiki page does not mention ~
Hi, On http://trac.xapian.org/wiki/FAQ/PHP%20Bindings%20Package, it doesn't say where the commands should be executed. For some reason, if a user executes them from /tmp/ on Ubuntu trusty, the following error message is returned and prevents the packaging to work (at the env ... debian/rules line): env: debian/rules: Permission denied However, executed from the home directory (or one of its

PHP5 - Query Parsing Bug
I'm replying to a very old thread (9 years ago) here http://grokbase.com/t/xapian/xapian-discuss/072tprmr6h/php5-query-parsing-bug So not sure if that's going to end up being more or less readable... I have this error : Fatal error: No matching function for overloaded 'new_Query' in /usr/share/php/xapian.php on line 2607 Line 2607 (and surrounding) looks like this and are in

Hi, I'm trying to run tinc 1.0.9 on freebsd 7.1-RELEASE-p4. I tried: Device=/dev/net/tun0 DeviceType=tun I tried it without the device-line, i tried the other devicetype-options, none of them work. local address announcements
Hi everyone, you can find the current version of my enhanced tinc using subversion: svn://tardyon.mon-clan.de/tinc I allowed anonymous read access, so feel free to download the sources. Unfortunately, my enhancements are based on a rather old git-checkout from Guus. The version should run under windows and Debian/Ubuntu. Xen and USB device access from guest
I'm trying to get access to an USB device from a Linux Xen guest running on Debian (tried with Etch, Lenny, and Bastian's kernels), without any success so far. All report I can find on the web state that it is not working on Xen yet, but are talking about Xen 3.0 or earlier. Performance is not an issue, as this is just for a hardware dongle for a proprietary software which only checks

PHP bindings on Ubuntu 15.10
Hi folks, Did anyone try building the PHP bindings on Ubuntu 15.10 using the instructions on http://trac.xapian.org/wiki/FAQ/PHP%20Bindings%20Package recently? I get a few errors. Before I get deeper into it, I wanted to know if the documentation was up to date. http://pastebin.com/BHTb6MkH Regards, Yannick

How to remove zpool name "alias"
I''m not sure about the right naming, but here is what I did and what my problem is now: I imported a "syspool" as another name (that''s why I use the naming "alias"), using the following command: zpool import -f syspool original My problem is that after reboot, the syspool is available both as "syspool" and "original" pool names at the same

weird routing issue
Hi, I have the following tinc grid: http://keetweej.vanheusden.com/stats/tinc-fvh-network-graph.png Now a funny thing happens: bpsolxp routes traffic to clientbp via 'server', not directly. Hi, Do you have any documentation on the protocol used by the icecast-server? I wrote a tool for multiplexing (proxying) shoutcast-sessions and I would also like to convert it for icecast-sessions. This shoutcastproxy makes it possible to listen with a couple of people to a session while only 1 is retrieved from a shoutcastserver (http://www.vanheusden.com/shoutcastproxy/). <p>Folkert van
