losing AD user & group information
Hello,
A few weeks ago we started joining some remote servers to our AD domain
as member servers. Several times now we have come back to them and found
ownership settings missing like the following.

Groups not recognized
I've got an issue with a fresh (and I mean really fresh) 3.0.5 + ldap
server where doesn't seem to recognize unix group membership. The
server was 2.2.8a last night and things were working. The unix side
works flawlessly, in other words if I log in as myself I can get where I
need to, but under samba I get nothing. Here's some supporting info:
my group membership information:

Ok, please post of both servers the smb.conf and tell the samba versions.
You have a misconfiguration in these.

How to give AD users group permissions on a Samba share
I have a Linux file server that is an AD Domain Member. It shares the
following (smb.conf):
[public]
path = /public
store dos attributes = no
hide dot files = yes
readonly = no
force group = ohprs
create mask = 0660
directory mask = 2770
The "force group" lets all Windows users map this folder and create
files and directories that all users can access and update. They are

Share authentication problem
Hi @ll !
I am trying to set up a samba fileserver in SuSe 42.3 as domain member
in a debian based Samba4 AD. The join seems to be ok, as I can get
/wbinfo -u/ and /-g/, and /getent group/ and /passwd/.
I can also list all browsable shares with /smbclient -L \\SambaFS
-Uusername/, but when i add -k, I get following errors :
/SPNEGO(gse_krb5) creating NEG_TOKEN_INIT for cifs/Samba1 failed

Fwd: Samba semantics error?
Hello,
I have this bug report that I have filed. Is there any specific reason why
samba behaves this way, and doesn't use the unix semantics? Since this is
even more restrictive than unix semantics, I'm more inclined to call it a
bug until I know it's supposed to be this way.
Any ideas?

Force set group id on samba domain member
For being honest, in my previous tests this user's (user test1) new files
was created with NIS\audio group as extected; but other user's files (user
amistest) was created with "NIS\domain users" group (in the same "audio"
directory). This lasted a few days.
It looked like

Dovecot + SpamAssassin through dovecot-antispam
Hello,
I am new to the list. /Waving at everyone/
I got a basic SpamAssassin working on a Debian setup (w/ debian-spamd
user), running as a Postfix transport.
I am currently trying to switch it to a dovecot plugin in order to make
it interactively work with the email storage (react to mail
classification, being able to train it from already received emails, aso.)
My problem is now making it

Samba Permissions Problem
I need help understanding what is happening and trouble shooting.
I have two servers running Samba 2.3.3, one as a Domain Controller one
as a Member Server. Both are running Ubuntu 8.10. smbd, nmbd and
winbindd using the tdb back end are running on both.
I have two shares on the member server and as far as I can tell they are
identical. [Projects] works as expected but [Windows] always asks
