Having a go at Rpad
Context: FreeBSD 6.1on a pentium 4; apache 2 server up & running; mod_perl
installed; java & php 4 working.
Willing to use Rpad on an office intranet, I installed the Rpad package
(R2HTML was still there) and carefully read the instructions to set up a
server.
Now, on the server I can start the http://localhost/Rpad homepage, I can
click on and browse the three examples

Apache + auth_mod_kerb + Active Directory = SSO
Hey List,
I have been setting up SSO on our Intranet Apache server. All seems
well, I think I have just about cracked it but it seems a little rough
around the edges;
I enabled auth_mod_kerb, and created a test directory in my web root
(/secure) and added a directory directive under the httpd.conf, I
created a user in Active Ditectory, used ktpass.exe to map the user to
the service principal and

Hi All,
Im going nuts trying to get a mixed environment going. I have a couple

Client drops off Active Directory when DC changes its IP
Hi all,
I have a Linux webserver VM running in a windows network. It's accessible
via http://hostname on our intranet. Our DC is a Windows server (I think a
2008 R2 box). Now, for the most part, this works pretty good. But it's
unreliable.
Every so often, it seems the Linux client drops off the network. I find
that the DC is every so often changing the IP address of the client. The

Cannot change directory permissions
Hi Rowland,
yes I do have two separate config files for smbd/nmbd and winbindd.
You can tell winbindd to load a separate config file via the "-s" command line switch.
Therefore I set "WINBINDD_EXTRA_OPTS" in "/etc/default/sernet-samba" to "-s /etc/samba/winbindd.conf".
The "cached_login" option for pam is also set and working.
The problem was

Problem With Groups in Samba 3.0.23 ?
Hi all,
I just upgraded a test copy of my samba server from version 3.0.10E to
the latest, 3.0.23D - the RPM available for Red Hat AS4 on the samba.org
site. There was no samba-common, just samba, samba-client and
samba-winbind RPMs. I installed all three successfully. I backed up my
configs before hand and replaces / adapted them afterwards. I
successfully added this server to the

Samba and Active Directory 2008
I was wondering if anyone has had any luck getting samba working with a
Windows 2008 domain? I've got mine working for the most part except for UID
lookups. I've got identity management for unix installed on on the windows
box and have several users configured with custom home directories, login
shell, and UID on the Unix attributes tab. My samba server is joined to the
domain, wbinfo -u

Hi Rowland,
I had to split smbd and winbindd config to work around some bugs in credentials offline caching.
I have a separate winbindd.conf, it looks like this:

server string = Fileserver (%h V:%v)

Windows 2003 Active Directory - Cannot access Samba shares
Hello,
I've spent the last couple of days following the HOW-TO's on how to make a
Linux server running Samba part of a Windows 2003 Active Directory, and a
lot of supplemental research from these groups and elsewhere, but now I'm
totally stuck and I can't seem to find the answer anywhere.
Basically, most of the configuration seems to be working:

Debian 9 + Samba 4.5 + Winbind 4.5 = Can't authenticate user for shared folder
I joined my Debian 9 server into a Active Directory Structure as a domain member. Not as a DC. Then when I try to share a folder on this server and the client PC can't correctly authenticate and use the folder. It keeps saying "Access Denied" on Windows client PC. There is no error in log files (/var/log/samba/). If I allow anonymous users, it works fine. I used to use the same

samba shares and active directory
I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I know I'm
very close but I'm missing one little piece. I have added a samba
machine to my domain using net ads and winbind and it's working
lovely. I can log into the linux server with my active directory
credentials but I am unable to access shares on the samba server from
windows using active directory credentials.
