Samba PDC (and Users/Machines) join Server 2003 Domain
I've been reading the Official How-To, Chap. 6, Joining an NT4-type Domain with Samba-3 because I want to join my current Samba3 PDC server and all its users (on Win XP Pro machines) to an MS Server 2003 domain. Not sure if I am understanding the material. It seems as if I can join the Samba3 server to the to the Server 2003 domain, but not all the user accounts. Is this correct? What I want

Windows 2003 server unable to join a Samba PDC
Hello, I have been trying for hours to make a Windows 2003 Server R2 SP1 join a Samba PDC. It does not work, and I simply get an error "Invalid Parameter" on the 2003 side. I have seen a old post with a similar error on the mailing-list, but w/o any answers. I am not using any LDAP stuff, just the flat file smbpasswd & Cie. I tried on Samba 3.0.20b and also 3.0.23b. It does not make

Windows Server 2003 can't join samba PDC domain
Hello! I'm running samba 3.0.20 on Solaris as PDC. But I cannot add Windows Server 2003 clients to the domain. After authenticating as root, I get the following error message: "The parameter is incorrect." in Windows. The result is that the computer isn't added to the domain. :( Any ideas? Thanks. The samba log says: [2005/12/05 15:54:37, 2]

Fwd: Not able to join windows 10 clients to samba 3.6.23 NT4 Style PDC
Hi Gaiseric, Thank you for quick reply. I configured my PDC as WINS server and specified "IP of PDC". I observed some errors in NMBD log, "become_domain_master_query failed". I am googling these errors. On Mon, May 16, 2016 at 6:57 PM, Gaiseric Vandal <gaiseric.vandal at gmail.com> wrote: > If this is an NT4-style domain, then DNS is not essential. Things like

Snap Server fails to join Samba PDC Domain
I have a Snap Server which runs some imbedded version of Samba (I'm thinking 3.X). I'm try to migrate from an NT PDC to a Samba 3.0.9 PDC (running on FreeBSD 4.10). The migration is mostly successful -- all the profiles have been moved, client authentication works great, password changes work fine, etc. My major problem is that the Snap Server fails to find the Samba PDC. However, if I

Suddenly Windows clients can't join Samba+ldap PDC anymore
Hi, i've tried adding server max protocol = NT1 into /etc/samba/smb.conf and restarting smbd and nmbd services but it didn't do the trick. I feel like Windows clients are not able to resolve SRV1 into the PDC and so they can't event try to join the domain. Just to verify, did you configure the Win 10 machine as a WINS client ? The PDC will not necessarily be the master browser (showing what resources are available on the network) - browser elections are weighted towards machines with newer OS's. You can adjust the "os level" parameter in smb.conf to bias the election in favor of the PDC but if WINS is being used none of

Suddenly Windows clients can't join Samba+ldap PDC anymore
I'm completely lost as i can ping SRV1 without issues but i'm starting to think that maybe Windows tries to join the domain through IPV6. ping -c6 SRV1 from this Windows 10 machine leads to host not found so i'm working on this direction right now. Any help will be really appreciated On Fri, May 20, 2016 at 5:04 PM, Gaiseric Vandal <gaiseric.vandal at gmail.com> wrote: > I

Non-root accounts cannot join the Samba PDC:s domain
I have a Samba PDC with LDAP as its back end. It works perfectly except for one major detail: Non-root users cannot join the Samba PDC. I change the domain on Windows XP clients like this: 1. Log in as administrator on an Windows XP client 2. Change domain with Control Panel -> System -> Computer name -> "Change..." and in the Domain field, I enter the name of the Samba Domain

Are you running a wins server (maybe you already mentioned this.) That tends to help minimize some classic samba issues. Join domain on one PDC server but not another
Symptoms: Can join machines to the domain on one PDC server, but not on another nearly identical PDC server. Details: I have two separate machines on the same network configured as PDC servers and running Samba 3.3.2. Both are running Ubuntu Linux and Samba is configured identically as far as I can tell. (Obviously, I'm missing something.) Pretty vanilla use of Samba. No LDAP or anything like
