Two differents sambaSID ! Very strange !
Hi,
I've configured the SambaSID of my domain manualy with "net setlocalsid
S-1-...."
I've done a check with "net getlocalsid" and everything seems to be ok,
but when I add a new user with smbpasswd, his sambaSID doesn't
correspond to the Domain SambaSID ! And in the LDAP directory, the
sambaSID of the sambaDomain ObjectClass doens't correspond to the

samba 3.0 with ldap / sambaSID
Hello,
I'm lloking for a way to convert my company's existing samba2.2 ldap
backed service to samba 3.0. What's particulary making me curious is the
sambaSID. As I've read it is the unique identifier of a PDC in the
windows world. So, how does samba3 generate this? Is it supposed to be
changed by the admin or is it determined by samba on the first startup?
Any pointer to a doc

object class 'sambaSamAccount' requires attribute 'sambaSID'
Hi,
In the continuing saga of not being able to join machines to my
openldap 2 & samba 3.0.23c controlled domain I now get the above error.
The schema is the one distributed with 3.0.23c. I've seen many postings
about the same error but no fixes for it. Does anyone know where to
look?
Thanks alot,
Greg

Hi,
samba 3.14 with ldapsam, working fine.
I tried this usrmngr.exe thingie because one of our admins is very
gui-oriented, wanted to see if it worked fine.
For most users, it is. I can change details, logon hours, groups, passwords.
But for 3 of them I get this message:

Hello
When a windows xp workstation join a domain, by windows gui parameters, ldap
machine attributes are not filled correctly:

If i create a user, rid (sambasid) equal a 2*uid + 1000 (and sambaprimarygrousid

LDAP and Domain
Hi to all,
I'm configuring a samba server to act as Windows Domain Server through
ldap,
I've created the users for the domain, and seems to work fine when I'm
not trying
to log against the domain, (I tried with smbclient and mac os x).
The problem is when I'm trying to add a windows machine to the domain,
it ask me

Cannot make Windows join Samba domain
Hi,
I'm having an issue trying to make a Windows machine sambaserveroin a Samba domain. Samba is running with LDAP backend (OpenLDAP). When I try to join the domain, Windows says that the machine account does not exist. The machine account, however, is successfully created in the LDAP directory after the join fails. When I try to join again, Windows says that the account already exists.

Fwd: Migrating server
Hi Gruss,
At this stage there is only one server, running 3.6.25 on Ubuntu12.04. The
plan to get LDAP to work on this one. Then add the second server 4.x and
the promote it to BDC and then demote this one. Just a side info, we
didn't want to go tdbsam in both as I read it breaks the domain trust.
The domain names are real ones.
I ran the commands you suggested, nothing in reply. I tried

sambaUserWorkstations (with LDAP) not working with Groups of Computers ?
Hi,
I'm trying to use the sambaUserWorkstations option to allow users to log
on certain computers only. This option looks great... In fact it looks
now a lot better than the 'ldap filter' one than was deprecated with
samba 3.0.20...
The fact is, if the sambaUserWorkstations option works well with machine
names, it doesn't seem to work when specifying groups of machines.

Problems ldap authentication for Samba 3.5.11-2-1
Samba team,
I'm having some problems to have a client Windows XP, I believe all systems
could have the same issue, using Ldap authentication with Samba.
This is a native OpenFiler configuration with a local LDAP server for Samba
shares. The problem is that sharing is never authenticated where my
suspicious is about sambaSID.
Basically I create a test user called "rlvcosta". This
