Smbd won't bind - any clues?
Hi folks, I'm trying to help a fellow sysadmin configure Samba on his DG/UX server. He's installed 2.0.5a, and everything seemed to go well in the configure and make stages. However, when he tries to start 'smbd' by hand he gets the errors below. Our machine is binary compatible with his, and I sent him my copy of smbd (from version 2.0.3), but it made no difference. I had

Trouble starting smbd
Hi folks! I'm helping install samba 2.0.5.a on a Data General DG/UX Intel based Aviion server. The config and compile went well, but when trying to start the daemon, we get the following errors: [1999/10/07 11:49:44, 0] locking/shmem_sysv.c:sysv_shm_open(597) ERROR: root did not create the semaphore [1999/10/07 11:49:44, 0] locking/locking.c:locking_init(174) ERROR: Failed to

R CMD check and DESCRIPTION file with Authors@R only
Section 1.1 of R-exts mentions that the Maintainer and Author fields can be omitted from the DESCRIPTION file if Authors@R is supplied. However, R CMD check does not seem to like this. package.skeleton("foo") desc <- readLines("foo/DESCRIPTION") desc[6] <- "Authors@R: person('Mathew', 'McLean', email = 'name@example.com', role =

detecting a key press
Hi Folks, I'm relatively new to r. I'd like to have a user respond by pressing a 1 or a 2 and determining their choice and the time of response. Previous postings have indicated that keyboard responses can be processed using scan and readline but both seem to wait for the user to also press return. Is there a way to detect the initial key press without requiring them to hit return?

Determining if a queue member is paused in Dialplan logic. [1.8]
Thank you Kevin, I've looked at your solution and while I agree it's not ideal it does appear to be something that might work for me. I'll see if I can maybe backport the QUEUE_MEMBER stuff to 1.8 from 11. I'm also exploring an idea with a co-worker of using an AMI listener that will fire off actions in response to the member being paused and doing things that way. I looked at

Help with Merge - unexpected loss of factor level
Hi, Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me, I am very stumped on this problem... I use R every day and consider myself a confident user, but this seems to be an elementary problem.. Outline of problem: I am analysing the results of a study on protein expression in cancer tissues. I have raw intensities from 2 different types of cancer and normal tissue, which can be taken from several

Users with changed passwords can connect locally, but not remotely
Hi. I've just run into a very strange problem with a Samba server. I'm running version 3.0.2a, which came with Yellow Dog Linux (a Mac that originally ran OS X server, but that I like better with Samba). I migrated a complete Samba configuration from an old server, including the entire /etc/samba directory and all user accounts, making sure that the UIDs all matched (and, while

Users with changed passwords can't log on remotely (but can locally)
(I submitted this last week, but hopefully someone who knows the intricacies of secrets.tdb and machine migrations will read this ...) I migrated a complete Samba configuration from an old server to a new one, including the entire /etc/samba directory and all user accounts. At first, no clients were aware that anything had changed. But when I changed the passwords of two users they suddenly

rsync not prompting for username, only password
Hi guys, can anyone suggest why, when I connect to my rsync server, I'm not prompted for a username and password but instead I'm only prompted for a password? I have "auth users = username" set in /etc/rsyncd.conf and a corresponding entry in /etc/rsyncd.secrets but still rsync only asks for a password. Samba 2.0.7 poor performance
Recently I shutdown my RS6000 running AIX 4.3.3 and Samba 2.0.7 and rebooted. Since rebooting, the performance of the Samba server has dramatically decreased. Nothing has changed on the AIX box. I recently added a Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 to the network. I thought that may be the culprit. I shutdown that server for a few days and the problem still exists. Any help would be much

troubleshooting help
Hi, I've installed Samba and started up the processes; however, I do not see the Samba server in Network Neighborhood. In using the DIAGNOSIS.txt file, I cannot get past test 3: ./smbclient -U% -L localhost. The output is as follows: added interface ip=140.188.120.55 bcast=140.188.120.255 nmask=255.255.255.0 session setup failed: Call returned zero bytes (EOF) Any insight into this

Determining if a queue member is paused in Dialplan logic. [1.8]
Howdy, I'm looking at enabling autopause on one of my queues where my queue members are bad about leaving their desks without pausing. The problem I see is that when the queue pauses an Member it doesn't jump into the dialplan to do so which means my handy device state and asterisk database driven Light for the Member showing their paused status won't update. My idea for solving

strange password problem with rsync
Hi guys, I am experiencing a very strange problem with passwords and username with rsync. I have a "auth users" line in my /etc/rsyncd.conf file (see below) and a corresponding username and password in my /etc/rsyncd.secrets. The strange thing is is that authentication for the module listed in /etc/rsyncd.conf (unixadm) only works IF the username in /etc/rsyncd.secrets is the same as

ISOLinux Windows / linux Install DVD
I am trying to create a DVD with ISOLinux as the bootloader to allow my users to select to install either Linux or Windows. Having read the article http://syslinux.zytor.com/archives/2002-October/001135.html i am left in a bit of a confused state as it sort of half explains things. All i think i need to know is: 1. What files are needed to boot windows? 2. Where do i have to place the

[LLVMdev] How basic block layout is determined during scheduling?
Hi Yang, > bnz R2, LBB0_34 > > I do not have any clue what happens when compiling with -O2. > Can someone make a suggestion? Is the "bnz" instruction marked "isBarrier" in your TableGen files? If so, that would mean LLVM considers fallthrough impossible and decides it can move LBB0_33 around at will. It's still very odd that it thinks it can put it

Likelihood ration test on glm
I would like to try a likelihood ratio test in place of waldtest. Ideally I'd like to provide two glm models, the second a submodel of the first, in the style of lrt (http://www.pik-potsdam.de/~hrust/tools/farismahelp/lrt.html). [lrt takes farimsa objects] Does anyone know of such a likelihood ratio test? Chris Elsaesser, PhD Principal Scientist, Machine Learning SPADAC Inc. 7921

alternative to EMV?
I need a package that can compute missing values of n-dimensional vectors for n > 2. This is a kind of interpolation, complicated in dimensions higher than 2. The idea is that I have a set of fully specified vectors (i.e., with no missing values) and I get a new vector that has one or more missing attributes; I need to fill in the missing values with values that are, based on the 'training

Memory accesses and determining aliasing at the MI level
In order to implement a subtle memory access optimisation during post-RA scheduling, I want to be able to determine some properties about the memory access. If I have two registers referring to memory, how can I determine if they are derived from the same base-pointer? Often LLVM will optimise to use intermediate registers holding partial displacements, for example, when a 'struct'

crossed random effects
Hi, I have a data set on germination and plant growth with the following variables: dataset=fm mass (response) sub (fixed effect) moist (fixed effect) pop (fixed effect) mum (random effect nested within population) iheight (covariate) plot (random effect- whole plot factor for split-plot design). I want to see if moist or sub interacts with mum for any of the pops, but I am getting an error
