Are these events normal?
We have dropped dovecot in place of UW-IMAP for about 40000 users
and have solved our immediate problem: disk I/O overload, mainly
from people doing POP3 and "leave mail on server". Thank you!
Now i got loads of dovecot error messages in the logs and don't know
if there is any significance. Here are a few examples:

Winbind Samba 3.5.1
Somehow I can't figure out what's going wrong. I have a Samba server
running as PDC. Workstations can join the domain and users can logon. So
far so good. I need winbind to be able to authorize a radius server to
the PDC. This I cannot achieve. If someone got give me a clue, I spend
already quiet some time Google the net :(
Thanks,
Mark

No IN and OUT on ISDN line at the same time?
Hi,
I like to forward an incoming call on an ISDN line to my mobile phone.
Since ISDN offers two channels, I thought that this should work, but Asterisk tells me, that there is no channel available.
There is no one else using this line, so guess I made a mistake in the configuration or it might not work for another reason.
Here's the CLI output , the capi.conf and extensions.conf. 83086921 is

Setting up asterisk for one user in private ip NAT.
Hi.
I've just bought SIP telephony service from a Swedish telco.
I've managed to make and receive calls with kphone.
Now I want to set up asterisk to be able to add fancy features like
voice mail and recording conversations. But first I
have to get the basic setup right. I'm running asterisk and kphone on
the same machine, behind at NAT-router.
When I make a call (from my regular

Are User Logon Hours Enforced on 3.0.7?
I have a single SuSE Samba PDC (only DC) domain w/three winxp using roaming profiles. I have no local domain accounts on any machine. Said setup has been stable for many weeks; I updated from 3.0.5-SUSE to 3.0.7-1.1-SUSE rpm (samba.org) tonight and converted from smbpasswd:/etc/samba/smbpasswd -> tdbsam:/etc/samba/passdb.tdb
My task is to define logon hours for my kids to prevent the urge to

Problem after upgrade from 3.0.14a to 3.0.21a
We have 2 Samba Domain Controllers and 1 Samba Domain Member Server, running
on Solaris 9. The Solaris servers are native LDAP clients to two OpenLDAP
servers. All user-info is available on these servers (getent passwd).
Before upgrading to Samba 3.0.21a, we were running Samba 3.0.14a. On the
Domain Member Server, when selecting the security-tab of a file or folder, the
users were listed as

smbpasswd and rpcclient differences between 3.0.14a and 3.0.21a
Hi all,
The problem is that from version 3.0.21a the commands rpcclient and
smbpasswd does't work as before (and as I wish), when connecting to
remote Windows2000 domain controller.
Below are some tests and outputs, which show the command outputs. In
both cases samba is compiled from original sources. OS - Debian testing
and verified on Ubuntu.

bug in 3.0.21a?
hello
when I try to connect to a share from my windows xp client, it does
not work. In linux via smbclient, there's no problem.
see below for the error log
version = 3.0.21a
security = server (the problem only seems to occur on servers that
rely on another samba server for authentication).
any ideas?

SOLVED was Re: Any ESRI users? Upgrade 3.0.14 to 3.0.21a broke Arcmap layer loading?
Did not hear from anyone on this, so maybe we are the only ESRI users who
got bit, but this turned out to be an issue with oplocks. Disabling oplocks
on the server eliminated the problem.

3.0.21a cross-compiling (uClibc) for mipsel fails
I'm trying to cross-compile Samba 3.0.21a to run on mipsel (using uClibc).
It fails at some point however, and I can't spot the problem:

problems upgrading from 3.0.20b to 3.0.21a
I ran into some problems last night upgrading from 3.0.20b
to 3.0.21a. I did my usual build from source, but when I
ran it, winbindd would die on me.
So I invoked it with -d10 -F and watched the progress on the
console. It takes a while reading the winbindd_idmap.tdb
file and then eventually, it displays the message "Aborted"
and dies. Any ideas?
As it was on a production server, I

Any ESRI users? Upgrade 3.0.14 to 3.0.21a broke Arcmap layer loading?
We just upgraded our samba server from 3.0.14 to 3.0.21a and have discovered
a subtle but very painful problem.
Users of ESRI ArcMap (on fully patched Windows XP clients) are unable to
read complex layered file data.
Arcmap works fine with 3.0.14, it works fine with the data on a windows
share, and it works fine when I set up a server to run the version of samba
shipping with Solaris 9 (3.0.2! ).

Samba 3.0.21a panic - oplock problem?
I upgraded from Samba 3.0.20 to 3.0.21a last night on my Solaris 10
machine. After the upgrade, everything seemed to work fine, but I see
that Samba is panic'ing in the logs. As far as I can tell, the client
retries whatever it was doing and succeeds (at least, we've had no reports
of problems from our users).
I have attached a level 10 debug, backtrace, and my smb.conf. The
