Query re winbind, primary group enumeration from Active Directory and Services For Unix
Query re winbind, primary group enumeration from Active Directory and Services For Unix I am wondering if anyone can explain to me how the GIDs work when using winbind to extract them from an ADS server. I have Unix servers running AIX 5.3 ML-10, an ADS server running Win 2003-SP2 with SFU 3.5 installed. I have been configuring the Unix servers as domain members and using winbind to extract the

W2k to W2k3 winbind enumeration issue?
I've been in the process of decommissioning a W2k domain controller and moving the whole show to a new machine with W2k3. Everything has moved along quite well except changing the samba setup to use the new system. A little background: Samba 3.0.10 on gentoo KRB5 ver 1.3.1-r1 using winbind/kerberos to integrate the samba server as an AD member server. The Samba server holds departmental

NSS and group enumeration in CUPS...
Hai Marco, What i did, i added 1 real linux user in the group unix group lpadmin. With this user i configured the webinterface and set kerberos auth. ( i did already setup ssl things like that for the webinterface. ) Get this file. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/thctlo/samba4/master/samba-check-SePrivileges.sh This shows you all groups and privileges that are setup. NSS and group enumeration in CUPS...
I was used (in SambaNT/OpenLDAP) to put on CUPS configuration the statement (/etc/cups/cups-files.conf): SystemGroup printops and add to 'printops' group some users that can manage cups. Now i'm in AD mode. I'm in 'printops' group: root at vdmpp1:~# id gaio uid=10000(gaio) gid=10513(domain users) gruppi=10513(domain

Re: Windows Guest ports enumeration ..
Hi, I add the device in the .xml conf file using this way : <channel type='unix'> <source mode='bind' path='//var/lib/libvirt/qemu/omnivision_1.agent'/> <target type='virtio' name='omnivision_1.agent' state='disconnected'/> <alias name='channel1'/> <address type='virtio-serial'

Windows Guest ports enumeration ..
Hi, Within following page : http://www.linux-kvm.org/page/Virtio-serial_API it's mentioned a link to "GetDevidePath" . Unfortunately link seems to be broken. Is there another way to get infos on how to enumerate ports ( on Windows guest) in order to retrieve a channel device newly created on the guest by adding it on the .xml configuration file ? Thanks. Regards, J.P.

Winbind+nss working on one centOS 5.2 box but not another
Hi all, I have an odd situation on my hands: * Two CentOS 5.2 boxes both joined to an AD domain. * Same samba version (3.0.28-1.el5_2.1) smb.conf, only the netbios names differ * Can enumerate users and groups using winbind -{u,g} on both. * nss doesn't enumerate users & groups on one (same lib versions, same conf file). //bentis@testukmcsstor1//:~$ rpm -qa | grep nss-

DFS enumeration on a Samba hosted DFS tree.
I've translated a Windows based DFS tree to a Samba based (3.0.23c) one and it seems to work quite well from Windows Explorer and cmd.exe. First off, I have a relatively big tree. grep dfscmd /root/dfs.cmd | wc -l 1614 One issue I've noticed that tree enumeration and manipulation from a Windows machine to a Samba based DFS root just doesn't work at all. For instance dfscmd.exe

Advanced Winbind questions
Hello everybody, i'm using Samba 3.0.20 with Winbind to check logins against an ActiveDirectoryServer. At the first login pam_mkhomedir creates a Folder containing the Homedirectory. I've some Problems with this installation. 1. Windows does not differentiate between Capitals and lower case letters. The Problem is that users can login with different spelling of their Username. And on

NSS and group enumeration in CUPS...
Hai, @Rowland. Yes, the link is what i have setup, but in less steps without sssd. For the kerberos part, you only need to add the HTTP/UPN. After a join with winbind you have the host/UPN. I must say that the CUPS setup is working great. Only 1 or 2 problems in almost 2 years. @Marco, > ...but you have added 'locally' (eg, in /etc/group > and /etc/shadow) the user

User/group enumeration range not being used
Hi all, Samba newbie again...I thought I was sorted out yesterday but a few more thing are plaguing me.... I have in my smb.conf: idmap uid = 10000-20000 idmap gid = 10000-20000 and winbind enum users = yes winbind enum groups = yes however, 'getent passwd' shows users within the default enumeration range (ie:16777550 or something like that!).This goes for groups too. I can't

Problem with Winbind/Kerberos authentication against AD 2003R2 RFC2307
Samba Team, I have posted this issue before but it seems to have gotten "lost in the storm." I have several Linux servers set up to authenticate users using AD credentials. The one server that actually works right is running Samba 3.2.7. The presence of RFC2307 attributes in the user object, in conjunction with a UID in the range set in smb.conf determines whether the user enumerates,
