connecting to samba from 2003 sbs domain client running xpprofi
Hi, Addition to my message below.. Computers which doesnt login to the domain controller at startup like windows xp home ed. , dont seem to have this effect. It seems that you have to keep the connection up and running on the xp profi pc's to stop this problem from happening. ??? We were using samba with security = domain (which I believe stopped working - I was on vacation at the time the upgrade was done) and are now using security = ads. We're using samba-3.0.23b-0.1.35 on SuSE Enterprise Linux Server 9 SP3 x86_64 The samba machine has been sucessfully joined to the domain with: kinit

Samba 4 migration from dead SBS 2003
Hello, I have successfully joined a SBS 2003 (SRVACMPDC01) domain with two additional Samba 4 DCs (SAMBA4PDC and SAMBA4DEDI, currently both 4.0.4-GIT-9899851). Everything worked fine: DNS / AD replication etc. The windows server was still responsible for DNS / DHCP / all FSMO roles. Now the original SBS 2003 crashed and refuses to start again (long story). In order to get a temporary workaround

For whatever reason when I try to dcpromo the windows DC it fails because it says it cannot contact the samba4 DC. I have checked replication as per https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Verifying_the_Directory_Replication_Statuses All of the tests pass. Since we are going

Samba (old) and shared printers on MS Win 2003 SBS
This might be a rube question; if so I apologize in advance. Someone asked me to help and I don't have much info, but I have a limited window and have to be forearmed with as much information as possible before I set foot in the door. The guy that asked for help runs a Red Hat 6.2 box with the version of Samba that came with RH 6.2. I asked him what version of Samba it was. He

Windows 2008 SBS suddenly disappearing on Xen 4.0.0
Hi all, when running Windows 2008 SBS on Xen 4.0.0, it disappears after some time (longest time I had it running was 20 minutes). In /var/log/xen/qemu-dm-win1.log I find: xc_map_foreign_batch: mmap failed: Cannot allocate memory xc_map_foreign_bulk error 12 Anyone any idea how to troubleshoot this? The Hypervisor has 16 GB of RAM, currently 2 GB are allocated to Dom0. This specific DomU has 8

virtio or IDE on SBS 2011 (or any domain controller)
CentOS 6.2, using latest KVM drivers for Windows guests. Using LVM for storage, software raid 10, RAW with write cache disabled in the virt manager. When using virtio drivers for disk drives Windows Server complains about write caching being enabled. I can't disable it either. Using IDE prevents this from being happening, however the performance sucks. All searches related to fixing the write

Migrate DC from Small Business Server 2011 to Samba 4
Hello Thor, >From our experience with one client whom had the same situation as you, we first migrated exchange to another mail system then we migrated the AD part. The SBS version we had to migration only allowed a secondary DC for a fixed period of time . The Exchange mail extensions were properly handled by Samba, even if they weren't used anymore. I don't remember the exact
