Failing to join an ADS domain
Hi,
I am trying to join a microsoft AD domain using RHEL 5.3. I tried with the
default Samba release (provided by redhat) with no luck. I've just upgraded
to Samba 3.3.6 (using http://ftp.sernet.de/pub/samba/recent/rhel/5/x86_64/)
but it still fails.
The AD domain is "example.domain.org" and has its own DNS servers.
My /etc/resolv.conf file redirects DNS queries to the AD DC DNS

Domain Admins
Hi,
I'm trying to set up one of my users to be a domain admin. I have
unix/ldap group called "domainadm" with "user1" a member of the group.
When I run "net groupmap list" I get the following:
Domain Admins (S-1-5-21-186220259-3826000728-3192352269-7033) -> domainadm
But when I go to log in to the domain with "user1" on a winxp machine,

Share management, user rights, core dump
Hi All,
First post so I hope this is pitched right.
I've been successfully using 3.6 as an AD authenticated (winbind) file
server for a while, and decided to have a poke around with 4 (I'd read
somewhere that someone had got zfs filesystems to work with full windows
acls with samba 4).
I've got as far as compiling 4.1.6 and setting up a similar share.

Winbind?
Okay,
I have a functioning Samba/LDAP PDC working. I also have a samba domain member server that uses the same ldap backend. Saying all this, everything works, domain logins, etc. But as I read the samba docs, they suggest that you use winbind also. So far, I haven't used winbind in my configuration and was wondering if I'm missing out on something. Is it necessary to use winbind,

Samba 3.0.21a (64 Bit) dumps core when trying to join domain on Solaris 9
Hi,
I recently tried to get Samba 3.0.21a running on Solaris 9 several
times, using different build environments. The compilers in use where
Sun Forte Version 11 and gcc 3.4.2. The binaries where compiled for 64
bit, using CFLAGS="-m64" for gcc for example. I just used
configure --prefix=<path>
The core file analysis of the latest build shows that strlen() is called:
