How can I prevent deleting of primary directory while allowing full privileges to subdirectories
Greetings - In general terms I would like to prevent users from deleting or moving a primary directory within a share, but allow users to create / delete / move subdirectories and files that reside under these directories. My reason for needing this type of setup is to prevent an accidental deletion of a common directory and to maintain a planned directory structure at the top level of the

automount, samba, desktop.ini issues
Program: update_links.pl Author: Ryan Wyler <ryan@nhorizon.net> Problem this program solves: Windows machines taking a LONG time to browse shares of automount points which include directories that are inaccessable to the samba server. How many namespaces for several groups of shared mailboxes ?
Hello Timo, let's say you want to implement several distinct groups of shared mailboxes via one (several) public namespace(s) with dovecot-1.1.x/Maildir. For instance, team1, team2 and team3 work on different projects (project1, project2, project3). Obviously, as many public namespaces (#team1, #team2, #team3) would do the trick, but then, any user (including users who don't belong to

svnserve with encryption on CentOS
Hello, I've got a CentOS box that i'm wanting to set up svnserve on. I've read much, and am confused. Does svnserve support data encryption and also restricting users from specific repositories? I'm thinking of a single repo structure under /var/svn-repos and I've got two users user1 and user2, each should have access to their own projects in this case user1 can access

BUG: cannot move messages to root mailfolder in namespace "There can be only one namespace with inbox=yes"
Hi Martin, Thanks for the reply. I got the error below, but when I changed the prefix in 4archives to Archive/ I am getting indeed something that is looking ok, I still have to test with a few clients. Why did you call the namespace 4archives? Because it would load before inbox? Or does this not matter at all. Error: namespace configuration error: Duplicate namespace prefix: ""

Dynamic Task Bar Menu Items
Am looking for a way to dynamically add menu items to a task bar icon menu. And then once selected - I would like to get the title of the menu item. The general idea is to read a text file: Project1 Project2 Project3 ===== Add those to the task bar menu, and when i select (for example) Project2, I want to pass the string "Project2" to the code. Also - Am wondering about how to get

BUG: cannot move messages to root mailfolder in namespace "There can be only one namespace with inbox=yes"
Hi, this setting might work. The default namespace "inbox" is managing INBOX and defines Special-Use folders on the same hierarchic level as INBOX. There is an extra namespace "4archives" which defines Archive as a mailbox on the same level as INBOX but stored on a different location. Set mailbox attribute auto to your liking. namespace inbox { type = private disabled = no hid

Multiple groups and access
Hi folks. I have set up a Samba server for a small company to share docs. The implementation was smooth and has been stable ever since. Now, the admin staff needs a change made and I am wondering how best to implement it as painlessly as possible. The requirement is to change the folder/file access so it denies access for some members while still allowing access for others. Simple, right? Wrong.

CATIA V5 & SAMBA Problem
I'm not sure if the problem I'm about to describe is related to configuration or a limitation in SAMBA, hopefully you'll know the answer... We have a SAMBA server that provides Windows workstations access to CATIA V5 CAD data which resides on other NFS servers. The SMB shared directories are all under a single directory called 'catiav5': /catiav5 /server1

CentOS 7 install software Raid on large drives error
Greetings - I am trying to install CentOS 7 into a new Dell Precision 3610. I have two 3 TB drives that I want to setup in software RAID1. I followed the guide here for my install as it looked fairly detailed and complete (http://www.ictdude.com/howto/install-centos-7-software-raid-lvm/). I only changed the size of the partitions from what is described, but ended up with the disk

Problems with group memberships in AD
I have a Samba box joined to a Windows 2003 AD. I have noticed a strange problem with adding users to groups. I added user 'shw' to the group 'project1' on the AD. When the user logs in the the Samba box, he does not have the permissions of someone in the 'project1' group. When I run 'id shw', group 'project1' shows up. However when I run 'id'

Advice on CentOS 7, software raid 1, lvm, 3 TB disks
Greetings - I am preparing to order a new desktop system for work. In general the new system will be a Dell Precision T3610 with two 3 TB drives. I plan on installing CentOS 7 as a KVM host, with virtual machines for Win 7 Pro and Linux Mint. I am looking for some advice or a good how-to on configuring software raid on the two drives, then using LVM for the host and virtual machines. I

workspace vs. image
Hello [R]ians, I'm hoping someone can clarify the difference between a Workspace Image and Working Directory. I created a directory on my PC, say, "C:\Program Files\R\Project1" and then saved my objects in "C:\Program Files\R\Project1\.Rdata". Then, in a subsequent session, I reloaded these objects using > load("C:/Program Files/R/Project1/.RData") At
