How to replace ntfs by ntfs-3g?
Hello, I can write to an ntfs partion if mounting it by hand with 'mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sdf5 /mnt/xp'. But if I use the mount option from the kde Storage Media panel applet (kdebase-3.5.4-13.6.el5.centos) then the partion will be mounted without write support. So how to say kde and CentOS to use ntfs-3g and not ntfs? Maybe by changing some links? Thank you very much. regards Olaf

My problem is, that windows takes the size of the base partition to be the size of the whole share. If I try to copy anything larger than the base partion into a partition that is actually larger Windows reports insuffient disk size

iSCSI disk preperation
I am currently going through the process of installing/configuring an iSCSI target and cannot find a good write up on how to prepare the disks on the server. I would like to mirror the two disks and present them to the client. Mirroring isn't the question, its how I go about it is the problem. When I partitioned the two drives and mirrored them together, then presented them to the client,

Re: Windows apps from windows parttion
I'd have to guess "no" on this one. I believe wine uses it's own registry settings, so for most windows apps to run they need to be configured in the windows registry -- unless they happen to be stand-alone apps that don't require any special files or registry settings (some of these do exist). I'm assuming you'd like to run programs installed on your windows

Using a Windows partition as libvirt media
I'm running Ubuntu desktop 12.10 with libvirt and virt-manager (gui). I have been led to believe that it is possible to use and existing partition as the disk storage volume for a virtual machine. The windows partition is /dev/sda2, but if I use fs: Pre-formatted Block Device I can select the partion. What I can't figure out is how to tell the vitual machine to use this volume. I tried

Spaced text (from Digest)
On the suggestion for double-spaces, I share the general 'oh no'. I see an explosion of people with iPads etc trying out Markdown in education because formatting sucks on iPads. They struggle with needing new lines (see recent post for an example). In short, they struggle with white-space (invisible) mark-up. Added to that, frequently cut and paste leaves double spaces (eg in BBEdit
