Is there a method of notifying users of a domain about a server or print queue reboot/shutdown/maintenance/problem? Our old Netware servers used to do this, and everyone seems to rely on the fact that they will be told they have X minutes remaining on a power failure, ect. Ideas on this anyone?

I'm running samba 2.2.2-6 on a redhat 7.2 box running 2.4.9-7 kernel... I'm trying to upload printer drivers from a Windows 2000 client. I've followed the instructions in the samba howto collection. I've created the print$ share, created the printer directory and subdirs, and made sure they are writeable by me. I put myself in the write list and the printer admin list.

Is there anyway we can stop this 'need Employee' or other kinds of spam that seems to infiltrate this mailing list? Joe

I have my network printer configured under Samba. When I logon to W2K, I can see the printer, but I am unable to open the printer to spool files. I changed the paper-size in the printer-settings and the device-settings from letter to A4.
