How can I change the localSID for a SAMBA Server?
I am trying to change the localSID for a SAMBA server, however I am unable to. I have tried the command "net setlocalsid" to no avail. To troubleshoot I have also stopped the smbd and nmbd services, but this did not help. Any help would be great! root at TheWiggle:~# net getlocalsid SID for domain THEWIGGLE is: S-1-5-21-748580849-194208185-3916830000 root at TheWiggle:~# net

Weird statup probems TLS & SSL openldap and samba 3.0.23
Hello, I am kind of confused with this situation. I am attempting to build a PDC using TLS/SSL with the following version of software. Samba 3.0.23 OpenLDAP 2.3.19 Fedora Core 5 When I startup the Samba server via the "service" command (service smb start) I get the following errors in my logs. problems with samba upgrade from 3.5.4 to 3.6.9
Hi @ all, we use samba as a fileserver on CentOS and an OpenLDAP server on Ubuntu 10.04. The samba server shared only files, so we can access with the win7 clients (and OpenLDAP credentials) to the files on the linux environment. So after upgrade we don't can connected us to the samba share. I have tested the connection with the tool smbclient "smblcient -L <servername> -U

Samba 3.0.0rc1 and 2 servers - PDC and homes
I have Samba 3.0.0rc1 installed on a linux server DC-01 and it's configured as a PDC. The only share it has is netlogon. Users are stored in an LDAP passdb. All our users' home directories are on a second linux server, FS-01. It's been joined to the domain (command "sudo net join -U Administrator", which is the name of the "root" account). And here's a

ldapsam_compat - join workstation to domain problem
Hi there I am using Samba 3.0 release with the ldapsam_compat backend until we are ready to migrate to the new LDAP samba schema. Using the same "root" LDAP user (and smbldap-tools) that Samba 2.28 allowed me to add workstations to the domain successfully, I receive a new error - "No mapping between account names and security IDs was done". When I switch to the domain

SID of member server in Samba domain (smbldap_search_domain_info: NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL)
I have a domain with Samba 3 acting as PDC, and using LDAP (passdb backend = ldapsam). I now wanted to add a second Samba 3 machine as a simple file server. I get errors with getdomainsid and getlocalsid, so there is obviously still something wrong with my config. The PDC runs Samba 3.5.6 on Debian Squeeze. Sid queries return: # net getdomainsid SID for local machine MY_PDC_HOST is:

Migration from samba-3.0.21b-i486 to samba-3.0.27a-x86_64 corrupts root group mapping
Hello. I went and copied the config files from <source>/etc/samba/* and <source>/var/cache/samba/* to the target server and deleted the browse.dat and wins.dat files. The source and target servers have different IPs and hostnames, so we use "netbios alias". This has worked fine a couple of years ago. Now after all files have been copied, the old server shut down and the new

Hello, I've a Samba Server 3.0.24 with LDAP backend. I've tried to migrate to Samba 3.5 (Version 3.5.2-SerNet-Debian) with again a LDAP backend. But once the server was installed, my XP machine can't connect the domain. The error is : netlogon_creds_server_check failed. Samba+LDAP: NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL because of primary group SID mismatch
Hi, I'm trying to get my new samba server running for a few days now and I start losing my mind over not figuring out what I'm doing wrong. Here's my setup: OpenLDAP 2.4.21 server with ~15 groups and >100 users, all having a unix and a samba NT password stored in the LDAP as well as a User SID and Primary Group SID assigned and stored in the LDAP, derived from the SID of the LDAP

net getlocalsid and net getlocalsid <domain>
Hi, does the output of the two commands really mean that the server FILESERVER is not in the domain?: # net getlocalsid SID for domain FILESERVER is: S-1-5-21-4161338278-3756552359-245403906 # net getlocalsid <domainname> SID for domain <domainname> is: S-1-5-21-2018781741-1218349122-1862352094 Is there another method to check if a server is in a domain? Migrating samba domain to new computer.
Should have read this first: http://samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/upgrades.html#id2600749 Problem is I did it the wrong way on a few production systems. Odds are this is the second time I did it wrong. Running Debian Lenny using smbldap. It mostly works. Existing members of the domain are working OK. The first thing that got my attention is was not able to join a new xp workstation to

Dovecot & LDAP Take #2: Authentication failed and logging
This is the user DN: > cn=Klara Fall,ou=People,dc=[domainname],dc=de According to your Dovecot configuration > auth_bind_userdn = cn=%u,ou=People,dc=**[domainname]**,dc=de if you login with "klarafall" it will be expanded into cn=klarafall,ou=People,dc=[domainname],dc=de which is not the correct DN for Mrs Klara. So if you login with "Klara Fall" it should work,
